Chapter 73 You're the One Who Lied!
Standing on the stage, Molly looked at the expectant eyes of the onlookers below and Grandma Foster's eager gaze. She couldn't help but roll her eyes in her heart. Fortunately, she had only given money to Brandon before to save some money.
She greeted them.
If she really bought the genuine piece, today she would probably be cheated by this shameless old man!
With these thoughts in mind, she glanced at Grandma Foster, feigning a smile. "Grandma, where did you hear that?"
"I keep my word. Although Jasper and I called off the engagement, it was done amicably. We didn't have a falling out, and also..." She smiled and glanced at Lauren's direction. "Even if the engagement is called off, we are still relatives."
"You've taken care of me for these five years, so it's only right to give you a gift."
After speaking, she turned her head and looked at her assistant in the distance. "Bring my gift over."
Amidst the crowd's praises, Molly accepted the box handed to her by the assistant, elegantly opened it, and showcased it to everyone:
"This was personally crafted by the renowned jewelry designer, Master Y."
"As is known to all, Master Y recently announced his retirement, and this jewelry set, Counting Stars, is his masterpiece."
Molly proudly raised her head, smiling as she introduced it to the audience. "After Master Y's retirement, the prices of his works skyrocketed. I had to have someone search for it abroad for a long time and bid a high price to acquire this jewelry set."
The stage lights focused on the jewelry in Molly's hand.
The diamonds sparkled, and there were sapphire gemstones on the platinum chain as a highlight.
Combined with the designer's exquisite craftsmanship, this set of jewelry was so beautiful that it amazed everyone present.
"It's so beautiful! Miss Collins is really extravagant!"
"It's evident that Miss Collins is grateful. Even though Jasper called off their engagement, she still gave such a wonderful gift to the elderly."
"I heard this set of jewelry starts at a million dollars. Miss Collins treats Grandma Foster as her own family!"
"It's a pity. Even with the engagement called off, Miss Collins' sister is probably not even half as good as her, right?"
There were all sorts of discussions in the venue.
Meanwhile, on the stage, Grandma Foster was already staring at the jewelry, too overwhelmed to move.
She thought that with Jasper and Molly's engagement over, her jewelry would surely be lost!
She didn't expect that Molly, who usually kept a close eye on everything, would be so generous at this moment!
Unable to control her excitement, she hurried over, holding the jewelry in her hands lovingly. "Molly, you're thoughtful, truly thoughtful! I never thought that at my age, I could..."
"But..."
Before Grandma Foster could finish, a sweet and crisp voice interrupted from the crowd. "But, the jewelry in your hands is fake, you know."
Lauren's voice rang out.
The venue instantly fell silent.
All eyes were focused on the little girl nestled in Jasper's arms.
Grandma Foster's excited body quivered slightly.
She narrowed her brow and looked at Lauren, "Is it fake?"
Molly rolled her eyes, "I bought it at a high price, how could it be fake?"
With a fierce glare, she scolded Lauren, "Children shouldn't tell lies."
Lauren blinked her big watery eyes at her, "I didn't lie. Your jewelry is fake."
Sitting beside Lauren, Jasper furrowed his brow and glanced down at the determined little girl next to him, "Lauren, how do you know it's fake?"
"Because..." the little girl blinked her eyes, "because the real Counting Stars jewelry..."
She pursed her lips and timidly looked at Jasper, "I designed it."
Her words landed like a bomb thrown into a calm lake.
The venue exploded.
Some laughed, some sneered, some were shocked.
On stage, Molly couldn't help but burst into laughter, "Lauren, didn't your mother teach you not to lie?"
"You designed it?"
"Tell me, how old are you? Have you seen the design sketches? Can you draw?"
"And you designed it?"
Molly snorted coldly, contempt visible in her eyes, "It seems like your mother hasn't taught you well all these years. She even taught you how to lie."
Her words were harsh. Jasper frowned and protectively held Lauren in his arms, whispering, "What's really going on?"
He didn't believe his daughter would lie.
But... it was incredulous that a six-year-old could design such beautiful jewelry.
"I designed it," Lauren nodded earnestly.
Pushing Jasper away, the little girl jumped off the couch.
"Auntie!" Adeline responded, quickly standing up and walking to Lauren, holding her small backpack.
Jasper glanced at Adeline, hesitating to speak.
"Actually, I brought the jewelry I designed today too, planning to give it to Grandma," Lauren said, reaching into her backpack while smiling at Grandma Foster, "But Counting Stars was given to Grandma by Auntie, so Lauren couldn't give it."
As she spoke, she pulled out a small box from the backpack.
The little girl opened the box.
Inside the box, Violet lay quietly, showcasing a magnificent set of jewelry.
The design, appearance, and even the colors of the gemstones were almost identical to what Grandma Foster held in her hands.
But it was evident that Lauren held the original.
The jewelry in her hand was even more beautiful.
Lauren placed the jewelry in Adeline's hand and reached into her backpack to find several drawings. "I brought the design drawings I made; I don't know if Auntie can understand them. They are quite professional."
With just one sentence, Molly's face darkened.
She gritted her teeth, "It's impossible!"
This set of jewelry was designed by the renowned foreign jewelry designer, Master Y. How could it be created by a six-year-old girl like Lauren!
"It seems Auntie doesn't understand." Lauren sighed and turned to Jasper, glancing at him. "Daddy, can we find a professional designer? Someone who can instantly grasp the design concept of my work."
Jasper furrowed his brows and instructed the people around him, "Go find one."
"Yes Sir!"
Before Ryan could even leave, a voice filled with worldly experience resounded.
"Allow me."
Everyone turned their heads in response.
Standing at the entrance was a man with silver-white hair.
This man had strikingly similar features to Jasper, but he looked to be in his fifties.
Someone in the venue exclaimed, "It's Mr. Foster's father, Derek."
"Mr. Foster was a renowned jewelry designer back in the day..."
"It's a pity that he hasn't worked in the industry ever since his wife passed away..."
"I never expected him to come..."
Amidst the murmurs, Derek calmly walked up to Lauren.
He squatted down, his long fingers taking the design drawings from Lauren's hand. "Let me see."
Lauren froze for a moment, instinctively glancing at Jasper.
With Jasper's permission, she pursed her lips and handed him the remaining drawings from her bag. "Grandpa, can you understand them?"
"When I designed this set of jewelry, my thoughts were..." she timidly glanced at Adeline, "my thoughts were of when my mom and dad would be able to reunite and love each other."
"I wanted to have a complete family, but I know it might be very far away, like the stars in the sky."
"So, I named this set of jewelry 'Counting Stars'."
Derek silently looked through those drawings and said, "Good child."
He raised his hand, gently rubbing Lauren's head. "I believe this was designed by you."
Derek had noticed the jewelry designer called Y a long time ago.
The reason he paid attention to her was because he found the designs to be similar to a set of jewelry he had once given his loved one.
He was willing to come back for Grandma Foster's birthday banquet this time because he heard that 'Counting Stars' would be unveiled during the celebration.
Having been keeping track for a long time, when he saw Lauren's sketches, he knew they were her design.
The man lifted Lauren into his arms and turned his head to give Molly a cold look. "Miss, did you just say that my granddaughter is lying? Yet, it is clear to me that the one who lied is you!"
