Chapter 732 What If She Isn't
Was Zara in trouble?
Oliver jumped up, abandoning his conversation with Jasper, and rushed out the door. "Dennis! Dennis!"
From a distant room, Dennis, smelling of medicine, threw on a coat and pushed the door open. "What's going on?"
Oliver didn't have time to explain. He grabbed Dennis by the wrist and pulled him outside.
Dennis, still in slippers, lost one as Oliver dragged him barefoot to the car.
Jasper stood by the window, watching Oliver's worried expression. He couldn't help but follow them out.
The servants and drivers were off duty at this hour, leaving only a few bodyguards around.
Oliver got into the driver's seat but was too anxious to start the car.
Frustrated with himself, he angrily grabbed his phone. "Get a bodyguard to drive Dennis and me to the hospital!"
Just as Oliver made the call, the driver's side door opened.
Jasper frowned at Oliver. "There aren't many bodyguards left at this hour. Joseph and Nova are still asleep. If you take all the bodyguards, what about them?"
Jasper's words made Oliver fall silent.
He bit his lip. "But Dennis can't drive..."
"I'll do it." Jasper took a deep breath and pulled Oliver out of the driver's seat. "Given your current condition, it is unsuitable for you to drive."
Oliver hesitated, exchanging a glance with Dennis in the back seat. Neither spoke or moved.
Jasper understood their worry. "I'm just the driver this time. I'll wait downstairs and won't go up. The Phoebe family won't notice me."
Despite his lingering resentment towards the Phoebe family, Jasper owed Oliver for his recent help. He wouldn't let Oliver be troubled by this.
Finally, Oliver took a deep breath and got into the passenger seat.
Jasper's driving was indeed steadier than Oliver's.
Knowing Oliver's anxiety, he pushed the car to its safe speed limit.
Soon, they arrived at the hospital.
After Oliver and Dennis got out, Jasper reclined the seat and lay down in the car.
The dim light from the parking lot's street lamps barely illuminated the area. Jasper lay there, unnoticed.
They hurried into the hospital.
Jasper closed his eyes, trying to rest, but a loud roar of an expensive sports car interrupted him.
He lifted his head slightly and saw Daisy through the window crack.
She parked her convertible not far from Jasper's car, elegantly stepped out, and fixed her wind-tousled hair, showing none of Oliver's earlier panic.
Daisy leaned against her car, lit a cigarette, and made a call.
The person on the other end of the line said, "Your intel is pretty good. How many spies do you have in the Phoebe family?"
"Yes, I'm at the hospital." Daisy responded.
The person added, "You said Howard is sentimental, right? When Esther died, he lost half his life. If Zara dies, will he lose the other half?"
Daisy smirked, "I hope they both die. With them gone, only Oliver and I will be left to fight for the family's fortune. Their real daughter won't come back. Your plan will fail. This is your karma for what you did to me six years ago."
After finishing her cigarette and call, Daisy stubbed it out and strutted into the hospital in her high heels.
Jasper watched her leave, a mocking smile on his lips.
The contrast between Oliver's worry and Daisy's calm was stark, despite both not being Zara's biological children.
Jasper lay back down, closing his eyes with a cold smile.
From Daisy's words, it seemed Howard and Zara's real daughter wasn't the deceased Molly.
And when Aunt Esther died, Howard lost half his life?
Such lies were likely to paint Howard as a faithful man, but Jasper didn't buy it.
He remembered how heartlessly Howard treated Lily. If he truly loved Aunt Esther, why didn't he hesitate then?
Jasper closed his eyes, sneering at the thought.
Inside the hospital, the emergency room light kept flashing.
Howard sat on a bench, covering his face in silence.
Dennis had already gone into the emergency room.
Oliver stood against the wall, staring intently at the door.
The elevator dinged. Daisy rushed out, her high heels clicking, looking anxious.
"Mom, what's wrong? She was fine when we parted tonight! How did this happen in just a few hours?"
Tears welled up in Daisy's eyes as she turned to Oliver. "Oliver, Mom will be okay, right?"
Oliver glared at her coldly, saying nothing.
Daisy cried harder. "Oliver, I know you have misunderstandings and prejudices against me. But with Mom like this, can't we put our differences aside? I've stepped away from the Phoebe Group. It's all yours now! Isn't that enough? Why do you still treat me like this?"
Oliver squinted at her. "How dare you say such things? Is it my fault you left the Phoebe Group?"
Howard looked up, glaring at them. "Enough! Your mom is in there, and you're fighting!"
Howard's words silenced Oliver.
Daisy covered her mouth, crying. "It's all my fault! I knew Adeline was ruthless but still supported Molly going to Radiance Springs to find Jasper. I thought she and Jasper had feelings, and Oliver was there to look after her. If Molly were alive, Mom wouldn't be so sick now."
Howard sighed deeply. "Yes, if Molly were alive, Zara wouldn't be like this. It's all my fault."
Daisy bit her lip. "If I had gone with her to Radiance Springs, I could have protected her, even if it meant my life. I thought Oliver would keep her safe."
Howard, already troubled, frowned at Oliver.
Sensing her words taking effect, Daisy continued, "If Molly, your and Mom's real daughter, were still here..."
Oliver, fed up, interrupted, "You keep saying Molly is their real daughter. What if she isn't?"
