Chapter 857 Then There's Nothing to Discuss
The police arrived.
The forensic examiner rushed to the balcony immediately.
After a thorough check, it was confirmed that Giselle had no signs of life.
There was no need for any resuscitation.
The examiner called a few brave officers to help with Giselle's body.
As they were about to carry her away, Jasper stepped in, frowning.
He gently hugged the body through the white sheet.
"Giselle, don't worry."
"I will find out who did this to you."
Jasper sighed softly, took off his jacket, and placed it over the white sheet covering Giselle's body. He turned to the examiner.
"Once you finish the autopsy at the station, take care of her."
"Her dress is too revealing. Use my jacket to cover her for now."
"I'll have someone bring her a new outfit in the morning."
The examiner nodded, and they carried Giselle's body away.
Jasper watched as they took Giselle, feeling a mix of emotions.
Giselle was a young woman, beautiful and new to the job, with decent skills.
Apart from her youthful confidence, her crush on him, and her jealousy of Adeline, she hadn't done anything wrong.
Jasper was almost certain that Giselle's death was connected to him.
She wouldn't have made enemies, but he would.
If it weren't for the photos and videos of him and Adeline circulating everywhere, he wouldn't have brought her to this wedding to avoid suspicion.
Who could have thought Giselle would die in such a setting?
When he finds the real culprit, he won't let them off easily!
As Giselle was taken away, Jasper turned and saw the police handcuffing Adeline.
Her face was still pale, and she looked sickly.
No matter what the police asked, she just shook her head silently.
The cold handcuffs clasped around her slender wrists, and she stared blankly at the light reflecting off them, unable to say a word.
Even though she said nothing, the police still took her away.
Giselle's death made her the prime suspect.
Jasper, along with Howard, Oliver, and a few security guards, were also taken to the station for questioning.
During this time, Jasper asked Ryan to contact Giselle's family.
Ryan found out that Giselle was an only child, and her parents were in poor health.
Since it was already 11 PM, they decided to wait until morning to notify her parents.
By the time they finished their statements at the station, it was past midnight.
Ryan and Saul waited outside with drivers.
Oliver and Howard were the first to come out.
Earlier, when Adeline was announced as the CEO of the Phoebe Group, they were beaming with pride. Now, they looked lost and unsure of what to do.
They didn't rush to get in the car but waited outside for a while.
Soon, Jasper came out.
Oliver and Howard exchanged glances and walked over to Jasper.
"I want to talk to you about Adeline," Oliver said.
Jasper, hands in his pockets, already had an idea in mind.
"There's nothing to talk about."
Oliver frowned. "This is about proving Adeline's innocence!"
Jasper smirked. "Are you worried about Adeline's innocence or the CEO of the Phoebe Group's innocence?"
Howard's face turned pale at Jasper's words.
Oliver, however, remained unfazed and frowned at Jasper.
"What are you talking about?"
"Adeline is family. Of course, I care about her innocence!"
He took a deep breath.
"Even though Adeline and I never liked your secretary, Adeline would never kill anyone. You know that better than I do."
"And I just learned from the police that there's a fingerprint on the weapon, but it's not Adeline's."
"There are no cameras on the balcony, only the security guards' testimonies."
Oliver took another deep breath.
"Adeline just became the CEO of the Phoebe Group today. She can't go to jail now."
"The security guards' testimonies aren't enough to prove Adeline's guilt."
"When Giselle's parents arrive tomorrow, I hope you, as her boss, can talk to them."
"Get them to deny Adeline's involvement and push the police to investigate the fingerprint suspect."
"If they speak up, Adeline can be bailed out until the case is solved."
Jasper chuckled coldly.
He looked at Oliver and then at Howard.
"So, Giselle's death means nothing?"
Oliver rolled his eyes and spoke seriously.
"She won't die in vain!"
"The police will investigate, you will investigate, and the Phoebe family will investigate."
"Right now, we need to get Adeline out on bail!"
"If Adeline is bailed out, the Phoebe Group won't be affected, right?"
Jasper coldly interrupted Oliver.
He leaned against a pillar and elegantly lit a cigarette.
Through the smoke, he glanced at Oliver and Howard.
"I can talk to Giselle's parents, but I have one condition."
Howard perked up.
If Jasper had conditions, there was room for negotiation!
He was excited. "What condition?"
Jasper took a deep drag and blew out a smoke ring.
"Adeline must immediately step down as CEO of the Phoebe Group, cut ties with the Phoebe family, and come back to Radiance Springs with me."
The air outside the station fell silent.
Howard glared at Jasper, furious.
"You're delusional!"
"Adeline just became the CEO of the Phoebe Group today and gave her inaugural speech. How can she step down tomorrow?"
"Cut ties with the Phoebe family and go with you? That's impossible!"
"She's my daughter. I'll never let her go with you!"
"Then there's nothing to discuss."
Jasper sneered, dropped his cigarette, and crushed it with his handmade shoes.
He calmly adjusted his shirt cuffs.
"Honestly, I'd rather see Adeline in jail than have her as the Phoebe Group's CEO opposing me."
"At least in jail, I won't see her being forced to stand against me."
He turned and walked towards Ryan.
"Looks like I'll have a good talk with Giselle's parents tomorrow."
"Make sure they don't relent and push this case to the end."
