Chapter 80 The Truth After Drinking

Perhaps surprised by how readily Jasper agreed, Lauren was stunned for a moment before she snapped out of it and walked into Jasper's room with her little legs.

The little girl sat on the windowsill in his room and looked at the intoxicated Adeline lying on the bed with concern. "Daddy, why is Auntie in your room?"

Jasper's gaze darkened. "She's drunk."

"Oh." Lauren pursed her lips. "Auntie must be very upset tonight."

Taking a sip from his glass, he asked, "Do you think she'll be very sad?"

"Yes," Lauren sat on the windowsill, her short legs swinging in the air. "Auntie said she feels that my stepmother treats me badly. She said she needs to resolve that issue before leaving Blue Bay, otherwise, she won't be able to leave with peace of mind."

After finishing her words, the little girl looked at Jasper with a touch of resentment. "But what about you, Daddy? You just let that mean stepmother go. Auntie worries about me and thinks you don't care about me at all. She must be very sad!"

Jasper's hand holding the glass trembled slightly.

Is it true?

He glanced back and silently looked at Adeline before emptying the glass. "Lauren, do you want to hear my explanation?"

The little girl hesitated for a moment before nodding. "I'll listen."

But no matter what he said, it couldn't change the fact that he didn't care about her or her mommy!

"I know that you and your mommy are not happy with the decision tonight, but..." He raised his head indifferently. "I'm waiting for someone to come back and handle this matter personally."

Lauren furrowed her brows. "Who?"

"Your mommy."

The little girl's eyes widened in surprise.

"I don't know if I should tell you this, but you are my daughter, and even though you are only six years old, you're very smart."

"I'm telling you this because I believe you'll understand..." The man sighed deeply, sat on the windowsill, and explained his plan to Lauren while having a drink.

"So..." By the time he had his third glass, Lauren finally understood his intention. "So, Daddy, you're planning to create a scandal to force my mommy to come and meet you?"

The man lowered his head, playing with his wine glass. "More or less."

After saying that, he gently rubbed the little girl's head with his hand. "Truly my daughter."

He had only said it once, and she instantly understood his meaning.

Lauren pursed her lips and pondered for a while.

After a moment, a bright idea flashed in her mind!

The little girl raised her immature hands and timidly tugged at Jasper's sleeve. "Daddy, don't you think... if you create a scandal, Mommy will be more likely to appear?"

Jasper furrowed his brow, seemingly not understanding her intention.

Lauren took a deep breath. "Daddy, you need to know that Mommy has always loved you, even though she hasn't been with you all these years. In fact, she's quite easily jealous. Every time she hears rumors about you and other women, she gets very angry."

"So..."

The little girl glanced at Adeline, who was still sleeping soundly on the bed. "Why don't you pursue Auntie and make Mommy jealous? If she gets jealous, she won't be able to resist showing up in front of you!"

Jasper furrowed his brows and turned to look at Adeline, then chuckled. "What does a child know?"

"But Daddy," Lauren stared into Jasper's face with her big, dark eyes, "how would you know if you don't give it a try?"

"Besides, you were willing to let go of that wicked aunt who wanted to kill me just to make Mommy come back. Pursuing Auntie shouldn't be difficult for you, right?" The little girl anxiously fixed her gaze on Jasper. "What do you think, Daddy?"

Lauren was well aware that Jasper's plan to use Molly as leverage to bring her mommy back was simply impractical. But if Jasper pursued Adeline, it would be different. Even if Mommy ultimately denied her identity, the two of them would have many opportunities to spark something special!

With these thoughts in mind, the little girl cautiously reached out and tugged at Jasper's sleeve. "Daddy, give it a try. Lauren can help you!"

Jasper helplessly shook his head, smiling. "No."

"Why not?" Lauren bit her lip, glared at him unhappily, and said, "Are you afraid that you'll actually fall for Auntie if you pretend to pursue her?"

"So, Daddy, your feelings for Mommy are not steadfast!"

"In that case, I won't help you convince Mommy to come back! After all, if you don't even believe you'll continue liking her, why should she come back?"

"You're not even willing to pretend with Auntie. You don't truly love Mommy! You don't truly want Lauren to reunite with Mommy!"

Faced with the unreasonable little girl, Jasper suddenly didn't know how to respond. The man let out a sigh, poured himself another glass of wine, and downed it in one go. "I'll think about it."

Lauren watched him drink the wine, feeling a bit uneasy. "Daddy, I won't harm you! Trust me, I promise you won't regret it!"

Looking at the little girl's eyes filled with anticipation, Jasper gave a faint frown. "I'll think about it."

If she had suggested him pursuing a woman unrelated to all this instead of Adeline, perhaps he wouldn't have hesitated at all. But it was Adeline...

One more glance at the woman on the bed, who had driven him almost mad several times, and a hint of helplessness curved Jasper's lips.

He didn't trust himself not to take the act too seriously.

Soon, a bottle of red wine was emptied.

What Lauren brought in was the strongest wine in the house.

Even someone with a high alcohol tolerance would not be able to handle drinking like this. Jasper knew that Lauren was intentionally trying to get him drunk. How could he, as a father, disappoint his daughter's expectations? After an entire bottle of wine, he finally couldn't hold on any longer. The man rubbed his throbbing head and leaned against the windowsill.

"Lauren, can we stop now?" His drunken state made it seem like he couldn't ask for anything more. The little girl pouted and glanced at the time on her smartwatch. "It's already late, Daddy, you should rest!" "You should rest too." Lost in his drunken haze, he had completely forgotten that Adeline, who was also drunk, was already lying on the bed.

Feeling his way onto the bed, he pulled the covers and held them close. "Lauren, you can go now, I won't walk you out." "Alright." The little girl shrugged and turned away. "Miss Lauren..." Outside the door, Ryan anxiously watched Lauren exit the room as he stood there with a ginger soup in his hands.

"Sir, he..." "He's drunk! Who said I couldn't get my daddy drunk?" The little girl asked contemptuously before she spun around and swiftly disappeared down the hallway. Ryan sighed and knocked lightly on the door. "Sir?" There was no response from inside the room. With a deep frown he contemplated what he should do and ultimately decided that he didn't dare to enter. As he reached the staircase, Ryan suddenly remembered. Wasn't Adeline still inside?
