Chapter 275 Dressed Like This, Aren't You Cold?

Suicide!?

Jasper jumped up from his chair. "How is she now?" he asked, panic in his voice.

Ted's voice trembled. "She was stopped in time. The maid was cleaning upstairs when she heard a loud noise from the study. She found Mrs. Foster trying to hang herself from the beam."

"The bodyguards got her down, and things are under control now."

"But Mrs. Foster keeps crying, saying she might as well be dead."

Jasper's brow furrowed. "I'm heading back right now!" He ended the call abruptly and bolted for the door.

Just as he reached the doorway, he turned back to Adeline."Stella attempted suicide. I must go see how she is doing."

"I've arranged for Bennett and Lauren to go to the amusement park with you tomorrow. Consider it an early reward for the project. Don't be late."

With that, he rushed out.

Leaning against the bed, Adeline watched him leave, a bitter smile on her lips.

Stella really did have a special place in Jasper's heart, a very special one.

But still, Stella attempting suicide? Adeline chuckled coldly.

It might serve as a method for her to detach herself from the incident involving Daniel.

When Jasper got back to Blue Bay, Stella was still on the sofa, surrounded by household staff. She cried pitifully, "Let me die! What's the point of living? My father almost killed someone because of me!"

"It's all my fault!"

"If I hadn't been jealous of Jasper and Adeline's relationship, or I hadn't envied how the kids liked Adeline, my father wouldn't have done it!"

"My father almost became a murderer because of me..."

The staff tried to console her. "Mrs. Foster, don't blame yourself. Your father loves you, but he made a mistake!"

"Yes, Mrs. Foster, it's not your fault he almost killed someone. How is that on you?"

"Mrs. Foster, please don't give up. You still have Mr. Foster and the kids."

"Even for their sake, you can't give up."

Sniffling, Stella looked up and saw Jasper at the door. Tears started rolling down her cheeks again. "Jasper." Her tear-streaked face seemed so pitiful.

Jasper's brow furrowed slightly. In the past, seeing her like this would have broken his heart. But now, watching her cry, he didn't feel the same way.

Yet her face hadn't changed.

With a sigh, Jasper walked over. "Stella."

"Jasper, I really don't want to live anymore!" As he reached her, Stella threw herself at him.

Stella buried her head in his chest, her voice trembling. "I almost became a murderer's daughter!"

"And my father's actions were all because of me!"

"What's the point of living?" Her sobs echoed in the room.

Jasper sighed, gently patting her back. "This isn't your fault."

"You've been away from the Collins for years. What they did has nothing to do with you."

Lying in his arms, a glint of cunning flashed in Stella's eyes.

After a moment, she lifted her head, tears streaming down. "Is Adeline okay?"

"I visited her at the hospital this afternoon. She was extremely hostile, insisting that I must have instigated my father to harm her."

Stella wiped her tears, her voice hoarse. "I tried to apologize, but she wouldn't accept it. She even said..."

Jasper gently rubbed her back. "What did she say?"

"She said, 'like father, like daughter,' and that I would eventually..." Stella choked up, too emotional to continue.

Jasper's hand, which had been soothing her back, suddenly stopped. After a pause, he pulled his hand away. "Are you sure Adeline said that?"

Stella nodded vigorously, tears still streaming. "Of course."

"I was shocked, too; I can't believe Adeline would say such things."

Jasper furrowed his brow, a hint of coldness in his eyes. "Stella, even when you're upset, there should be a limit."

"We both know what kind of person Adeline is. She wouldn't say that to you."

With that, Jasper headed upstairs without looking back. "The incident with Daniel hurting Adeline is no longer your concern."

"You've cried yourself hoarse. Get some rest. I need to get back to work."

Stella's tears still clung to the corners of her eyes, her gaze fixed on Jasper's retreating figure. "Jasper, what do you mean?"

Jasper glanced back with a light smile. "You know exactly what I mean."

Although he hadn't known Adeline as long as he had known Stella, he knew Adeline well enough.

Despite all the unfairness and unexpected events she had faced before, Adeline had never uttered anything like that. It was unlikely she would say such things to Stella.

Regardless, he believed Adeline anyway.

Stella's expression shifted from aggrieved to shocked and finally to ashamed. "I..."

"Go rest, I'm tired too." With those cold words, Jasper turned and headed upstairs.

Stella stood in place, fists clenched tightly at her sides.

It couldn't continue this way! Jasper's attitude towards her had already deteriorated. And with what Adeline said at the hospital today...

Stella closed her eyes in silence for a long time, then turned her head and glanced at the staff behind her. "Go make a pot of coffee for me."

Twenty minutes later, the door to Jasper's study was knocked.

Wearing a seductive nightgown, Stella entered gracefully with a tray in hand. "Jasper."

Jasper, engrossed in work, didn't even look up. "Didn't I tell you to rest?"

"I can't sleep." Biting her lip, Stella walked over slowly, placed the tray on the table, and elegantly took the cup and coffee pot.

With alluring movements, she poured him coffee. "I made you coffee to apologize."

Jasper frowned and finally looked up. The Stella before him was indeed beautiful and enticing.

The fabric of her nightgown was scant as if he could tear it apart with a mere touch.

But Jasper glanced at the calendar. "It's getting cold. Don't you feel it dressed like that?"
