Chapter 370 I don't want to wait another day

Adeline sneered at Jasper's face. "Aren't I playing with fire every day?"

"Isn't Mr. Foster dangerous, too?"

Her words made Jasper's face instantly darken.

He squinted at her, his voice cold. "Do you really have to compare me to someone like Thomas?"

"Because you two are the same kind of people." She said.

She chuckled, her eyes filled with coldness. "Not only are you the same kind of people, but you're also in cahoots."

Jasper's brows furrowed tightly. He looked at her face and said each word deliberately, "Adeline, I've already told you, Thomas and I have nothing to do with each other."

Adeline smiled. "Who would believe that?"

"If you don't believe it, there's nothing I can do." He said.

He stared at her deeply, then went upstairs.

The sound of the study door opening came from upstairs.

Adeline stood still, looking in the direction Jasper had gone, silently biting her lip.

Actually, from the moment he rescued Lauren from Thomas, she already started wavering.

But she still couldn't be sure if they were just acting.

After all, Jasper used to be the best actor, with superb skills.

"Mommy, it's time to eat."  At the dining table in the distance, Blake was serving his sister while calling out to her.

Adeline responded and walked over, absentmindedly eating with the two children while listening to the sounds upstairs.

Jasper had been upstairs for a long time and showed no sign of coming down.

She paused, waved Alice over, and whispered a few words in her ear.

Alice nodded and was about to go upstairs when Jasper came out of the study and headed downstairs.

Standing on the stairs, he glanced at Adeline coldly. "You don't have to worry about me staying here."

"I'm leaving now." Jasper said.

With that, he tucked the documents he had found under his arm and turned to leave.

Just as his hand touched the doorknob, Lauren's small hand grabbed him.

He paused and instinctively looked down.

Dressed in a princess dress, she was holding onto his sleeve while her eyes were reluctant.

"Eat." She struggled to get the word out.

He squatted down, heart aching.

He gently hugged Lauren. "Daddy's not hungry; you guys eat."

Lauren used to be lively and cute, though not as mischievous as Bennett.

But after witnessing Bennett and Sebastian's room being bombed, she changed completely.

He sighed, gently patting her back. "You will get better."

She shook her head, stubbornly holding onto his sleeve. "Eat."

He paused, instinctively looking up at Adeline, who was eating at the dining table.

Adeline glanced at him indifferently.

Their eyes met. She frowned and avoided his gaze. "Then stay. There's enough breakfast that Alice made."

"Okay!" Jasper nodded.

Before he could respond, Lauren had already answered for him.

He sighed helplessly, put down the documents, and carried Lauren back to the dining table.

The atmosphere was subtle. As Jasper spread jam on Lauren's bread, Blake couldn't help but speak up, "This is Mommy's favorite. Lauren never eats it."

He then looked at Jasper seriously. "Give it to Mommy."

Jasper hesitated for a moment before gently placing it in Adeline's bowl.

Adeline frowned, feeling inexplicably blocked seeing Jasper's reluctant expression.

She put down her knife and fork. "I'm full."

With that, she stood up, instructing Alice to watch over the kids before going upstairs.

Sitting at the dining chair, Jasper watched her leave and couldn't help but sigh.

He silently looked at Lauren, his deep voice softening. "Did you see that? It's not that Daddy isn't trying. It's that I don't have a chance."

Jasper's actions were all seen by Blake across the table.

Blake frowned at him, his voice and tone mature beyond his age. "If there's no chance, make one."

"If you want something, you can't just rely on Lauren's efforts."

Jasper paused, looking up at him. "I know."

Lauren, however, widened her eyes in shock.

Didn't Blake, like Bennett, dislike Daddy and hate him?

Why was Blake talking to Daddy like this now?

Probably seeing through Lauren's thoughts, Blake coughed lightly and turned his face away, not daring to meet her eyes. "Because I think he's not bad."

Hearing Blake's answer, she was silent for a while before smiling with curved eyes.

Adeline returned to the bedroom, irritably lying on the big bed and staring blankly at the ceiling.

The moment she closed her eyes, Jasper's expression filled her mind.

Her brows furrowed. Was she really making things difficult for Jasper? Wasn't he always a great actor? Did he hate her so much that he didn't even want to act anymore?

Thinking of this made her feel even more flustered.

At this moment, her phone rang.

She irritably picked up the phone. It was a wedding photo from Mia.

In the photo, she was wearing a white wedding dress, her hair up, looking as beautiful and pure as a medieval princess.

But behind her stood Thomas.

Looking at the photo, Adeline felt a myriad of emotions.

Mia: [I haven't forgotten our plan from last night.]

Just as she was feeling emotional, Mia's message came through.

Mia: [I've secretly installed a tracking system on his phone.]

Mia: [He just told me he has to go to the east side of town this afternoon and can't accompany me.]

Mia: [I guess he's going to see Grace this afternoon.]

Mia: [Let's take action.]

On the other end, Mia sat in the dressing room of the bridal shop, looking at herself in the mirror with silent tears.

She sniffed, picked up her phone, and continued messaging Adeline.

Mia: [I don't want to wait any longer, and I don't want to be deceived anymore.]

Mia: [Thomas has been toying with me for over a decade, and I don't want to wait another day.]

She had her own dignity and pride; she had no desire to become a laughingstock in the eyes of others.

Adeline nodded and was about to reply to Mia when a loud noise came from downstairs!

With the loud noise, Alice's shocked scream followed. "Blake!"
