Chapter 184 Are You Looking For Me
The next morning, Adeline received a phone call from Jasper as soon as she got out of bed.
"Tom waited for you downstairs. We were going to spend a week in Las Vegas this time, so you needed to pack your luggage."
Adeline hung up the phone, feeling a bit annoyed. When she checked the time, it was only a little after 7 a.m. After he had kept her up so late last night, how could he be so energetic now?
After a quick wash, Adeline stepped out of the bedroom and saw Lauren and Bennett in the living room, along with their huge suitcases.
As they saw Adeline coming out, the two little kids smiled at her and said, "Have a pleasant business trip!"
Adeline couldn't help but laugh at their silly expressions. She walked over and opened the suitcases.
Inside were the clothes and daily necessities she would need for the next week, as well as a few unfinished drawings she had left.
Without even thinking, she knew it was Lauren who had packed everything for her.
Although Bennett was attentive, he was still a boy.
Adeline raised her hand and rubbed Lauren's head. "Thank you."
Lauren pouted unhappily, "I wanted to go with you originally, but Daddy said this trip was for something important, so he didn't let me and my brother come along."
After Lauren finished speaking, Bennett sighed and patted Adeline's shoulder, "I managed to convince Mr. Jasper to let Tim and Tom go with you."
"If there's anything, you can ask Tim and Tom for help." After saying that, Bennett sighed again and opened his mouth with a parental tone, "Mommy, this is your first time leaving us for a long trip, so you must take good care of yourself."
Adeline glanced at the two little kids in front of her, "You just need to take care of yourselves. Mommy is an adult now, and I will take care of myself."
Lauren rolled her eyes, "Adults can also worry people." Adeline felt a bit helpless.
She spoiled them too much on weekdays, which is why they didn't hesitate to belittle her in front of her. After repeatedly telling Bennett to take care of his sister, Adeline dragged the suitcase out of the door.
Downstairs, Tom saw her coming and immediately moved her luggage into the car while saying, "Mr. Foster said we'll drive directly to Las Vegas. It'll take about four or five hours on the road. Do you think you can handle it?"
Adeline shook her head and got into the car. Jasper's car had already left, and after Tom picked her up, they directly got on the highway.
On the way, Adeline felt bored, so she casually listened to Tom talking about his group of friends who had all come out of the mountains together. As she listened, she suddenly thought of the man Tom had mentioned before, the one who had grown up with Mia. "I know who you're talking about."
Tom sighed and said, "A few days ago, he suddenly said that his former employer gave him another task from six years ago so that he will be going back to Denver in a few days."
"I guess it's another life-or-death mission. I don't want to have any more contact with him..."
Adeline's heart sank slowly.
That person was the one who hit her with his car six years ago and ultimately threw her off the bridge into the sea.
Back then, he was hired by Molly and Jasper.
Now, Molly has been sent abroad to study and is isolated from the outside world.
But if it weren't Molly who called him back...
Then there's only Jasper left.
Thinking about Jasper announcing his divorce from Stella yesterday and leaving to find Evelyn today...
Adeline's heart began to feel cold.
Was Jasper planning to repeat his tricks and bring Stella to her death?
Although Stella had always been Adeline's enemy, it was undeniable that she was still using Adeline's identity.
Jasper wanted to kill Adeline once again.
Closing her eyes, Adeline could only feel her heart colder than the winter ice.
All the favor and gratitude she had accumulated for Jasper in recent times disappeared instantly.
All along, he has been that cold and heartless Jasper.
Six years ago, before his business trip, he could calmly tell her that when he returned, they would go to the hospital together.
Then, after his business trip, he cruelly killed her.
Six years later, he could claim to love his wife so much and at the same time divorce her and even kill her.
Her drowsiness was dispelled.
Adeline sat in the car, no longer hearing Tom's chattering.
In front of her eyes, all she could see was Jasper's cold face.
The four to five-hour drive should have been long.
But Adeline, who was in a complex emotional state, felt like this time was unusually short.
At noon, the car exited the highway and entered downtown Las Vegas.
This was where Adeline grew up.
Since marrying Jasper, she had yet to return to Las Vegas for many years.
Adeline returned to her hometown after so many years that her mood should have been excited.
But now, she couldn't feel even a hint of excitement.
When she got out of the car at the hotel entrance, she immediately saw Jasper standing there.
He was standing next to the intricately carved marble pillar, talking on the phone.
His profile, against the luxurious decoration of the hotel, looked particularly handsome and charming.
Even though they had been intimately close last night, Adeline felt that he was a stranger today.
Tom handed her the luggage.
Taking a deep breath, Adeline dragged her suitcase into the hotel.
When she walked up to Jasper, he had just hung up the phone. He grabbed her wrist firmly. Adeline stiffened. She raised her head and glanced at him, "Mr. Foster, what's up?"
Jasper furrowed his brow. He snatched the suitcase from her hand and handed it to Ryan beside him. "The Quinn family just called. They have prepared a banquet to welcome us."
Adeline nonchalantly shook off his hand. "The Quinn family's banquet should only invite you. I won't go with you."
With that, she walked into the hotel. Jasper frowned and caught up again. "Are you out of your mind?"
She was perfectly fine last night, so why did she seem so unwilling to have anything to do with him today?
Adeline shot him a cold glance and said, "Mr. Foster, I came here with you on a business trip. If it's not a business-related banquet, I can refuse to attend, can't I?"
Her attitude of wanting to draw a clear line with him made Jasper coldly chuckle.
"Do you think I would take you to a private banquet?"
"You overestimate your status."
Jasper let go of her hand and looked down at her. "The Quinn family has been developing in the jewelry industry these years. They are now the leaders in the Las Vegas jewelry industry."
"Why do you think I want to take you to the Quinn family's banquet?"
Adeline was stunned. After a moment, she took a deep breath and was about to say something, but a clear female voice interrupted her.
"Jasper?"
Stella stood at the hotel door, looking at Jasper in surprise. "You're in Las Vegas, too? Are you here to find me?"
