Chapter 439 Congratulations on Escaping a Life of Pain

Adeline rolled down the car window and gave Jasper a cold, uninterested look. "I don't wanna talk to you."

She smirked. "Mr. Foster, you wanna thank me for bringing your precious Ms. Jones back? No need, I wasn't being nice. Just didn't want you coming after me if something happened to her."

With that, Adeline yawned. "It's late; I gotta get home. Can you and your buddies move your car outta my way?"

Her icy attitude made Jasper's face darken.

He took a deep breath. "Adeline, why you gotta actso heartless? If you didn't care, you wouldn't have swapped the liquor for a soft drink. If you still care , why won't you talk to me? Besides, I wanna talk about the competition."

"Really?" Adeline raised an eyebrow. "But Mr. Foster, work's over. Can't I choose not to talk business after hours? As for the drink, I found out later that Mia had someone switch it. If I'd known, I would've let you drink the real stuff."

She looked up and stared coldly into his eyes. "Don't get it twisted. I really wanted you dead."

Her words shattered Jasper's heart.

From the moment he drank the liquor, he knew she couldn't hurt him. He couldn't deny he was touched.

But since Ryan had already brought the medical team, he decided to play along and leave.

After leaving the room, the first thing he did was ask about the liquor.

The hotel staff said Mia arranged it and specifically told Adeline about the switch.

So there was no way Adeline didn't know.

But her current look and gaze made it clear. She hated him deeply.

Jasper squinted, wanting to say something, but in the end, he said nothing.

Finally, he sighed, turned, and signaled to Ryan and Jason to clear the way and let her go.

When the way was clear, Adeline rolled up the window without hesitation, leaned back in the seat, and drove off.

As she left Emerald Crest Estate, her phone lit up.

It was a message from Jasper.

Jasper: [Thanks.]

Looking at the message, Adeline sneered, tossed the phone aside, and closed her eyes, pretending to sleep.

But even with her eyes closed, a tear slipped down.

It wasn't that she felt wronged or heartbroken, she just had no one to talk to.

By the time Adeline got home, it was already eleven at night, and Lauren and Blake were asleep.

She first went to the kids' room to tuck in Lauren and Blake, then checked the nurse's notes for the day.

Finally, she went to her room, took a shower, and opened her laptop to record the day's work.

But as soon as she opened it, an unfamiliar email popped up.

The email was from an unknown address.

The content was brief, just one sentence.

[We are all fine now, don't worry.]

Adeline frowned at the message, confused.

Her email was encrypted by Blake, requiring specific passwords to send messages to her.

Wrongly sent emails couldn't get through at all. Spam and scam emails? Not a chance.

The only folks who knew her email were some people she corresponded with in Euronia and a few family and friends.

Adeline thought, 'Who sent me this email? Who are the "we" in the email?'

She couldn't figure it out, so she tentatively replied: "Who are you?"

But there was no response.

Adeline waited for over an hour, and just as she was about to fall asleep, her computer beeped again.

This time, the sender used a different email address.

[The person you think about day and night.]

Reading this, Adeline frowned deeply.

Adeline thought, 'The person I think about day and night? Who could that be? If I have to name someone, it would be Bennett. But Bennett was already dead.'

She closed her eyes, dismissed the email as a prank, deleted it, and shut down her computer.

Because of that email, she thought of Bennett again.

Adeline lay in bed staring at the ceiling, and whenever she closed her eyes, all she could see was Bennett's adorable face.

He looked exactly like Blake. But his eyes, tone of voice, and facial expressions were always different.

To outsiders, the twins were hard to tell apart, but she could distinguish Bennett from Blake with just one look.

Bennett was the little sunshine of the family, bringing light and laughter wherever he went. But now that light was gone. Blake, who was already quiet, became even more silent. Even the once lively and cheerful Lauren had become withdrawn.

Adeline closed her eyes, and tears silently fell. If only Bennett hadn't died, how wonderful it would be.

Early the next morning, the first thing Adeline did when she woke up was ask the villa's driver to take her to Bennett's grave.

Lately, she had been busy with work and Blake's surgery.

She thought that by keeping busy, she could forget the pain of losing her son, forget the hurt of Bennett leaving her.

But she was wrong. Some wounds were memorable and couldn't be forgotten just by staying busy.

Last night's email touched the pain deep in her heart.

She needed to talk to Bennett to ease her pain.

Adeline carried Bennett's favorite food, drinks, and a large bouquet of flowers into the cemetery.

The cemetery still looked the same as when she and Jasper last visited.

But when she saw the dried-up bouquet in front of the tombstone, her brows furrowed slightly.

Adeline thought, 'Who brought these flowers?'

She clearly remembered that it had rained heavily the last time she came, and she hadn't brought any flowers.

Moreover, the flowers were baby's breath.

Bennett had explicitly said he didn't like baby's breath because it wasn't eye-catching or dazzling, not fitting his personality.

Adeline squinted her eyes.

She hadn't been here recently, and Jasper was even less likely to remember Bennett. Who brought these flowers?

She frowned and walked over, finding a card in the bouquet.

The content on the card made Adeline freeze instantly.

The card read: [Congratulations on escaping a painful life, Molly.]
