Chapter 473 Does He Look Like Bennett?

Jason's words made Adeline scrunch up her face.

She shot Jason a half-smirk. "Luna's got a terminal illness now?"

What kinda drama was Luna pulling this time? First, she said Adeline burned her. Now, a burn ain't enough, so they cooked up this terminal illness story?

Jason was like, "I'm not BS-ing you!"

He sighed. "Adeline, seriously, no point in lying to you now. Luna's really sick, like, super serious. Doc says she's got less than a year."

Jason took a deep breath. " Jasper always told me to keep it hush-hush, but you gotta know."

He looked at her dead serious. "You probably thought Jasper was spoiling Luna for no reason, but there's a story. From day one, Luna had this illness. She asked Jasper to stick around for her last days, and he couldn't say no."

Adeline gave a bitter smile. "Why couldn't he say no? Did Luna have a knife to his throat?"

Her icy question made Jason clam up. He almost spilled that Luna was Blake's bone marrow donor, but now wasn't the time.

They were smack in the middle of a jewelry design competition, with a huge crowd watching.

If he blurted out the bone marrow thing now, it’d be chaos!

Jason took another deep breath. "Jasper's sticking with Luna 'cause he likes her. What other reason could there be?"

He frowned. "Bottom line, I came up here to explain why Jasper wanted Luna on Adeline's design team for this competition. It's Luna's dying wish, and Jasper's just making it happen."

Jason went on, "Honestly, if it wasn't Jasper, anyone here, knowing Ms. Jones is about to die, wouldn't turn her down."

He gave Adeline a long look and then walked off.

The place went dead quiet again.

Finally, the host, Jerry, stepped up.

Jerry said, "Since Mr. Foster wanted to grant Ms. Jones's last wish by letting her join Adeline's team, it's understandable. Miss Wilson is truly a kind woman! Her design talent and character are top-notch in our industry! I announce that the winner of today's jewelry design competition is the Foster Group's team led by Adeline!"

After Jerry's speech, the room finally had some scattered applause.

Holding the trophy Richard handed her, Adeline felt all kinds of mixed up.

After Luna's drama, not just her, but everyone felt the competition was a joke. A total farce.

But even though Adeline wasn't thrilled, the celebration party had to go on.

After all, everyone had busted their butts for half a month, and they finally snagged an award. No way they weren't gonna celebrate.

Adeline booked a private room at one of Mia's hotels. After a quick meal with the crew, she bailed.

Timothy, Robert, and Lucia knew she was in a funk, so they let her go.

Standing by the roadside, Adeline stared at the LED screen on the building across the street. It showed her holding the trophy with a fake smile. She let out a bitter chuckle.

For some reason, she pictured Jasper holding Luna and walking away. She wondered how Luna was doing now. Would today's drama make her condition worse and turn her into a killer?

As her mind spun, unsure whether to hit the hospital or head home, a car pulled up in front of her.

The window rolled down, and there was Richard behind the wheel.

Richard grinned. "I knew you'd ditch the party. So I came to wait for you. Remember, you promised me dinner?"

Adeline couldn't help but laugh at his serious face.

She took a deep breath, shook her head, and hopped in his car.

Richard drove her to a chill café.

As soon as they sat down, Richard started gushing about her design for the competition.

Adeline was over his compliments, so she just nodded along, sipping her coffee and zoning out.

After a bit, Richard sighed. "If you keep brushing me off, I won't tell you who I saw at the airport when I got to Radiance Springs yesterday."

Adeline snapped back to reality.

She furrowed her brows and looked at Richard. "Who'd you see at the airport?"

Seeing she was genuinely curious, Richard smiled. "I saw a kid who looked exactly like your son Bennett."

Richard sighed and started scrolling through his phone. "They were like twins, but their vibes were different. This kid was kinda aloof and quiet, not like Bennett. And when I tried to say hi, he totally ignored me."

Richard continued, "At first, I thought it was Bennett's twin brother Blake. When you were my teacher, I only met the lively Bennett, never Blake. But then I thought, even if Blake's shy, he wouldn't be that rude. This kid had zero manners!"

Adeline shrugged, not taking him seriously. "People mix up faces all the time."

"It's different." Richard took a deep breath and finally found the photo. "I snapped a pic of the kid. He looks exactly like Bennett!"

Richard said, "But there was this stern woman with him. I wanted to talk to him, but she was too fierce and had bodyguards. I was alone, so I backed off. Look! Doesn't he look like Bennett? And they were headed to Radiance Springs. Could he be a relative's kid?"

Adeline furrowed her brows, but Richard's words had her hooked.

She took the phone and glanced at the photo. One look, and she froze.
