Chapter 48 Indeed, She Had the Face of a Witch
"Absurd!" Grandma Foster's anger rose with Molly's tears. She slammed the teacup onto the coffee table. "When Jasper wanted to get engaged to you, no one in the family agreed, but he did it anyway, claiming it was to respect Adeline's last wish!"
"Now, after five years, when the family has finally accepted you as the future daughter-in-law, he wants to cancel the engagement! Does he think marriage is a joke?"
Grandma Foster glanced at the jewelry on the table and then turned her head to look at Molly with kindness in her eyes.
"Molly, don't worry. I will definitely help you. Jasper must have been tempted by that maid and said those words about canceling the engagement in a moment of confusion. I won't let Jasper cancel the engagement with you."
Molly bit her lip, her face filled with grievances. "Grandma, with your words, I feel relieved. You're so kind to me."
As she spoke, she wiped away her tears. "Since you're so kind, Grandma, I can't be ungrateful. I remember that famous designer has also designed an elegant jewelry set. I will buy that set too as a birthday gift for you. What do you think?"
Upon hearing this, Grandma Foster smiled, her face wrinkling up. "Very well! Go ahead and find it. I will take care of this matter for you," she assured Molly.
"Thank you, Grandma!" Molly wiped away her tears with a happy smile, stood up, and bowed to Grandma Foster respectfully. "I won't disturb you any longer. Please take care." With these words, Molly turned and left.
"Butler, see Miss Collins out."
"Yes."
Five minutes later, the butler returned to Grandma Foster's side. "Didn't you always dislike Miss Collins?" he asked.
"Yes." Grandma Foster closed her eyes, picturing Adeline from years ago.
When Adeline married into the Foster family, she disliked that woman and often urged Jasper to divorce her. But who could have predicted that Jasper would treat her like a treasure?
When that woman disappeared, he had almost drunk himself to death because of her. Even though she didn't like Adeline, Grandma Foster had to admit that Adeline was a thousand times better than her own sister Molly.
At least Adeline never played such schemes.
However, now that things had come to this point, she had no choice but to help Molly. After all, even if Adeline's sister was inferior, she was still much stronger than a maid.
It was 5 PM.
Adeline, who had finished shopping at the market, was stopped by two bodyguards.
"Our madam wants to see you." Adeline was not unfamiliar with these bodyguards. They were Grandma Foster's personal guards. So it was Grandma Foster who wanted to see her!
The woman lightly pursed her lips and lifted the groceries in her hand. "Can I first put these in the car?"
The bodyguards nodded. They couldn't let her carry these things to meet Grandma Foster.
Adeline loaded the groceries into the trunk. She then walked to the driver's seat and said, "I have some things to take care of. You can go back now. I'll take a taxi later."
The driver frowned and glanced at the two bodyguards standing not far away. He lowered his voice and said, "Should I inform Mr. Foster?"
"No need," Adeline replied calmly, lightly curling her lips.
"It's a small matter," she said.
Adeline turned around and walked toward the two bodyguards. "Let's go."
Her elegant posture and indifferent attitude not only stunned the two bodyguards but also left the driver speechless for a while.
Is this woman really just a maid?
Why does she handle unexpected events so gracefully and calmly?
"Let's go."
While the two bodyguards were still stunned, Adeline had already bypassed them and walked to the car behind them. She opened the door and got in.
Only then did the two bodyguards come back to their senses. They hastily got into the car and drove off.
The driver watched the car disappear from his sight before making a phone call to Ryan.
"Ryan..."
Grandma Foster was waiting for Adeline in a restaurant.
The bodyguard pushed open the door. Adeline walked in with indifference and sat across from Grandma Foster. "Hello."
"Are you Adeline?"
Grandma Foster furrowed her brows slightly and looked at the delicate and exquisite face in front of her with a cold smile. "Indeed, you have a face that can seduce men."
No wonder Jasper was willing to break off his engagement with Molly for her.
This face is indeed stunningly beautiful.
Adeline smiled lightly. She lifted the teacup elegantly and took a sip. "Did you invite me here just to compliment my beauty?"
Her shameless words made Grandma Foster glower at her with malice. "Is that a compliment? I've never seen someone as shameless as you!"
Grandma Foster snorted coldly. "How much does Jasper pay you?"
Adeline shrugged. "Not much, just five thousand dollars."
"Five thousand dollars."
Grandma Foster sneered and slammed a check on the table. "There's one million dollars here. Take this money and resign immediately!"
Adeline laughed.
After all these years, Grandma Foster still didn't have any manners or decorum.
Adeline couldn't understand how she managed to marry Jasper's grandfather with her personality.
She picked up the check and examined it carefully. "I didn't realize I was so valuable." Her voice was filled with amusement.
"You're not valuable. It's my future daughter-in-law who is valuable!"
Grandma Foster glared at Adeline. "If it weren't for my daughter-in-law coming to me in tears, I wouldn't have known that the incident with the photo was true."
Adeline narrowed her eyes.
So, is Grandma Foster standing up for Molly?
How interesting!
When she was a daughter-in-law in the Foster family, Grandma Foster made things difficult for her. And now, she's defending Molly.
With this thought in mind, she lifted her head and looked at the necklace Grandma Foster was wearing around her neck. "Your necklace is quite beautiful."
She had noticed Grandma Foster's necklace as soon as she entered.
This necklace was unique. There was only one piece in the whole world, with many imitations.
However, there are very few who can imitate it to the point of being almost indistinguishable.
And the one Grandma Foster was wearing around her neck was one of them.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?"
Grandma Foster sneered coldly and lifted her head proudly. "This is a genuine piece. My future daughter-in-law spent a long time finding it for me. There is only one of its kind in the whole world!"
She glared at Adeline scornfully. "You're only fit to be a maid. You'll never be able to touch a necklace like this in your lifetime. Don't even dream of becoming my daughter-in-law. Take the money and get lost!"
