Chapter 269 I'm Here to Find You
Adeline took a sharp breath and gripped her phone. "Didn't we agree they'd stay with me a few more days?"
Jasper went silent for a moment. "Nathan says he misses the kids."
Adeline paused.
In Neon City, Bennett and Lauren had always stayed at her place on Willowcrest Terrace.
Nathan, their grandfather, had yet to visit every week. And now, after just one day with her, had he missed them?
Jasper might accept that explanation, but Adeline didn't. She couldn't help but think of Stella storming off earlier.
Adeline closed her eyes. Maybe it wasn't Nathan missing the kids, but Stella wanted to use them against her.
It's partly Adeline's fault, as she should've kept her cool.
Thinking about what Stella had done lately, she'd been more patient, but Stella had pushed her, almost wrecking her career and Daniel's future.
After hanging up with Jasper, Adeline leaned back in her chair, letting out a long sigh.
"What's the matter?" Violet asked, frowning, noticing Adeline's somber expression.
Adeline sighed and told her about the call with Jasper.
"Damn!" Violet slammed the table. "Stella wastes no time getting revenge! "It hasn't been long, and she's already causing trouble!"
Adeline shrugged. "I am fine." But Bennett and Lauren were her weak spots, which Stella and Jasper could exploit.
That night, Adeline made a lavish dinner for Bennett and Lauren. "Remember, when you go back to Blue Bay tomorrow, ask Jasper to get you special bracelets so he can track you."
Bennett muttered while eating, "Doesn't that mean we won't be able to see you anymore?"
Lauren sighed. "Yeah, Mom, I don't want Dad to know what we're up to all the time!"
As Adeline served them, she sighed. "It's for your good."
"Stella's plan fails this time; she'll find another way to lash out."
Right now, having Jasper keep an eye on the kids was her only option.
Being too aggressive might make Jasper suspicious of their real relationship while being too lax, she feared Stella might take advantage.
If only there were a way to get Bennett and Lauren out of Blue Bay.
"I have a plan." After dinner, while washing dishes, Adeline's necklace pendant communicator activated, and Blake's voice, still childish but serious, came through. "Mom, I told you before, I'll help you."
Then, in a very serious tone, he announced some exhilarating news that made Adeline ecstatic: "There's a worldwide genius youth training camp in Euronia, recruiting talented kids from all over."
"I already signed up Lauren in advance, under her name."
"They've approved it."
"Lauren can go for training and can bring a companion."
Adeline was stunned for a moment, then almost jumped up excitedly. "So, Bennett and Lauren can both go to this training camp?"
"Yes." Blake's voice was much calmer than Adeline's excitement. "The idea of sending children to a training camp is irresistible for any parent."
"Whether it's Stella or Nathan, they can't argue against Lauren and Bennett getting such excellent training and education."
Adeline bit her lip and scrolled through the training camp info Blake had sent her. It was a legit camp, and the training was top-notch.
Adeline was so excited she almost cried. Bennett and Lauren had always been pawns for Stella because of their identities, and that had always worried her.
Now, if Jasper agreed to send them to the camp, Stella would lose her leverage!
Thinking about this, Adeline bit her lip. "Blake, thank you."
"Mom." Blake sighed on the other end. "I'm your son. Bennett and Lauren are my siblings."
"As a son and a big brother, I want to share your burden and want them to have some peace."
Adeline took a deep breath, trying to say something, but words failed her.
Blake's understanding was heartwarming. But it was so unfair that the most sensible child had to endure the hardest trials.
"Blake." Adeline clutched her necklace pendant. "I will cure you."
There was a long silence, then Blake's voice came with a smile. "Mom, I believe in you."
Adeline chatted with Blake for a while before reluctantly hanging up.
Back in the bedroom, Adeline explained her and Blake's plan to Bennett and Lauren.
"Blake's got it." Bennett stretched lazily. "I wonder if there are any pretty girls at the camp."
Lauren pouted at him and then hugged Adeline's arm. "Mom, I can go. But I don't want to leave you."
Adeline's heart warmed, and she pinched Lauren's little nose. "I promise, once I finish things here, I'll come get you right away, okay?"
Lauren was silent for a moment, then nodded earnestly. She leaned in, kissed Adeline's cheek, and said, "Mom, always remember, I love you!"
Bennett, rubbing the goosebumps on his arm, added, "Me too."
Adeline smiled and hugged them both tightly.
Before long, she heard their even breaths. Adeline looked at the moonlight outside and sighed.
According to Blake's plan, Lauren and Bennett should leave for the camp in two days. She had to convince Jasper within that time.
Fingers crossed!
Early the next morning, as Adeline was about to make breakfast for Bennett and Lauren, there was a knock on the door. Opening it, she found Jasper standing there with breakfast in hand.
Jasper glanced at Adeline, who was wearing an apron. "May I come in?" Adeline paused, then stepped aside to let him in. "Mr. Foster, you didn't have to come so early."
Adeline gracefully took off her apron and sat on the sofa opposite Jasper. "They're still asleep."
"I know." Jasper looked at her and smiled faintly. "I came to see you."
