Chapter 243 Feeding Her

Adeline woke up to find herself already in the hospital.

Next to her, with a face full of worry, was Violet.

"What are you doing here?"

Rubbing her aching temples, Adeline tried to sit up.

Violet quickly helped her lean against the headboard. "Ethan and I just got back from our trip this morning. I hadn't even made it home when I got a call from Jasper saying you had fainted."

"I rushed over here immediately."

After saying that, she gave Adeline a reproachful look. "It was just a business trip to Las Vegas. How did you end up like this?"

Adeline gave a bitter smile. "It has nothing to do with the business trip."

Violet sighed. "I know everything."

She glanced towards the door to make sure no one was outside, then lowered her voice, "The doctor told me in secret that you didn't rest well last night, overexerted yourself, and didn't eat breakfast this morning. That's why you fainted."

"Who was it? Jasper?"

Adeline paused and could only nod.

Violet rolled her eyes. "But he still let you go to work today?"

"When I arrived, Lucia from your company said you had been working since early morning without any rest!"

Adeline reached out to rub her aching temples. "He got drunk last night and didn't remember anything when he woke up. He blamed me for not resting properly and delaying work."

"In a fit of anger…"

"In a fit of anger, you decided to play with your health?"

Violet looked at her helplessly and held her hand. "Adeline, no matter what, you have to take care of your health."

"Don't forget why you came back."

Adeline nodded.

She hadn't forgotten.

She came back to get pregnant with Jasper's child and then returned to treat Blake's illness.

So, she had to take care of her body. Otherwise, having another sick child would only make things worse.

Thinking of this, Adeline took a deep breath. "It won't happen again."

Maybe she was really agitated by Stella and Jasper's affection this morning, which made her do something stubborn and irrational.

Violet sighed again.

After a while, as if suddenly remembering something, Violet pulled out a photo from her phone. "Didn't someone come to our hospital to investigate Evelyn's information before?"

"Well, guess what? During my trip a couple of days ago, I ran into a former colleague who had left the hospital. We casually talked about Evelyn, and it turns out Evelyn really had cosmetic surgery at our hospital two years ago!"

She handed the photo to Adeline. "Evelyn had a minor surgery at our hospital, which was very successful. My colleague even took a photo!"

Adeline frowned, about to tell Violet about Evelyn's death, but her eyes caught sight of the photo.

She instantly widened her eyes.

Adeline took Violet's phone in shock, her voice full of disbelief. "Are you sure this is Evelyn?"

Violet rolled her eyes. "Of course."

"My former colleague remembered clearly. When Evelyn had the surgery, she talked about the Quinn Family in Las Vegas. How could it not be her?"

Taking another look at the photo, Violet remarked, "I think this Evelyn in the photo looks a bit like Stella."

Then, she quickly added, "I mean, she looks a bit like you used to."

Adeline held the phone, unable to speak for a while.

The woman in the photo still resembled the Evelyn from six years ago in her memory.

Her features and contours had changed significantly, looking a bit like her and a bit like the current Stella.

But, she didn't resemble Evelyn, who had died.

Adeline bit her lip, her hand trembling slightly as she held the phone.

Even though she knew cosmetic surgery could change a person's appearance.

But this Evelyn from two years ago looked nothing like the Evelyn she saw a few days ago.

Adeline had also undergone cosmetic surgery, and she knew very well how much effort and time it took to change someone's appearance completely.

So…

If the woman in the photo was Evelyn, then the Evelyn who died must have been a fake.

She bit her lip, recalling what Jasper had said to her in the car in Las Vegas.

"This Evelyn might not be the real Evelyn."

"The dead Evelyn is just a puppet; the real Evelyn is someone else."

"After all, the Evelyn I met this time is very different from the one I remembered over the years."

Thinking of this, Adeline broke out in a cold sweat.

If the dead Evelyn wasn't the real Evelyn, then she wouldn't have committed suicide out of humiliation from leaving Las Vegas.

Then what was the cause of her death?

And why did the Quinn Family use a puppet to impersonate Evelyn? Where did the real Evelyn go?

Adeline thought about everything related to Evelyn in Las Vegas.

If Evelyn was fake, then Morris's hatred towards her should also be fake.

That night, Gabriel kidnapped her and everything about Linda.

The more Adeline thought about it, the more terrified she became.

Fear, confusion, and doubt.

All these emotions filled her mind.

Adeline's face turned pale.

"Still feeling unwell?"

Seeing her face getting worse, Violet frowned and asked with concern.

Adeline bit her lip and looked up at Violet. "Why would someone have another person impersonate her, make their whole family go along with it, and then kill the puppet?"

Violet shrugged. "Because she had already taken on another identity, I guess. Why are you asking this?"

Closing her eyes, Adeline sighed, wanting to say something but ultimately saying nothing.

Some things would only harm her , such as telling Violet.

Handing the phone back to Violet, Adeline took a deep breath. "Delete this photo and act like you never saw it."

Violet frowned, about to say something, when the hospital room door opened.

At the door stood a tall, imposing man.

"Are you awake?"

Jasper glanced at her indifferently, walked in, placed fruit and a meal on the table, and then looked at Violet. "What did the doctor say?"

Violet paused, then smiled. "The doctor said she's too tired. She didn't get enough rest last night, didn't eat breakfast, and worked too hard, so she fainted."

Jasper sneered, "Too tired?"

Violet snorted. "Of course!"

"Mr. Foster, you should know what made her so tired, right?"

Jasper found it amusing.

Whether in Las Vegas or Denver, he couldn't recall her having any physically demanding work.

But he didn't bother arguing with Violet.

Jasper sat down in a nearby chair, opened the meal box, and handed the soup to Violet. "Feed her."

Violet frowned. "Mr. Foster, shouldn't you be the one feeding her?"
