Chapter 566 I Once Taught Bennett
Adeline stared at the card in her hand, feeling a shiver run down her spine. She knew that handwriting all too well.
Molly used to have the worst handwriting, thanks to her lack of education.
Adeline had convinced her that only beautiful handwriting would match her looks.
With Adeline's help, Molly's handwriting had become elegant. And now, that same elegant handwriting was staring back at her.
"What's up?" Jasper asked, frowning as he walked over and noticed the handwriting on the card.
He pulled out his phone. "Ryan, find out which flower shop just delivered flowers to Adeline and who ordered them."
"No need," Adeline cut him off before he could finish. She pointed at the handwriting on the card.
"Don't you recognize this handwriting?"
Jasper glanced at it, looking confused.
Adeline squinted. "Mr. Foster, you really don't recognize it?"
Jasper stayed silent, but he had a pretty good idea who was behind the flowers and the card.
Adeline sneered. "Mr. Foster, you've been engaged to her for five years, and you don't even recognize her handwriting."
Jasper gave her a long look. "I've told you, I got engaged to her because of you. I have no feelings for her. It's not surprising I don't recognize her handwriting."
Adeline sneered and put down the bouquet, keeping the card.
"Mr. Foster, do you always cut ties so cleanly after a breakup? Does that mean you never liked Luna either?"
Jasper's body stiffened slightly. He squinted his eyes. "I never liked Luna."
Being with her, treating her well, protecting her—it was all for Blake.
Adeline laughed out loud. She didn't know how Jasper and Molly had interacted during the six years she was away.
But she had seen how much Jasper had pampered and loved Luna.
Now that Luna was dead, he could completely deny his past feelings for her.
Thinking of this, Adeline felt a bit fortunate that she had never received Jasper's affection and favoritism.
Otherwise, she would be even more heartbroken.
Seeing Adeline still looking unconvinced, Jasper sighed. "Adeline, there's something I've been hiding from you. My relationship with Luna wasn't because I liked her."
"Stop," Adeline interrupted him. "Mr. Foster."
She sneered at him. "Have you forgotten that Luna almost killed my son?"
She continued. "My dinner tonight is to celebrate that my son and I didn't die at Luna's hands."
"Do you think I want to hear about your past with Luna right now?" she asked.
Adeline's words stopped Jasper from revealing that Luna had donated her bone marrow to Blake.
Jasper stayed quiet for a moment, then finally gave a bitter smile. "Yeah, now's not the right time. I'll tell you when I get a chance."
He turned around, picked up a sleeping Lauren, and headed towards the villa. "I'll crash in the guest room tonight, so don't worry."
He paused. "I'm staying because I miss the kids too much."
With that, he walked away. It had been over two months since he asked Adeline to move out with the kids to recuperate.
He hadn't been close to Lauren and Blake for over two months.
Adeline watched Jasper carefully carry Lauren into the villa, her lips pressed tightly together.
She admitted she couldn't figure Jasper out. When he was cold and unfeeling, just thinking about him sent chills down her spine.
But sometimes, he seemed like a deeply emotional person.
When he left Blue Bay back then, he wasn't even willing to cover Blake and Lauren's medical expenses.
Now, he was carrying Lauren as if she were the world's only treasure.
Adeline didn't know which version of him was real, and maybe she never would.
"Mommy."
After Jasper carried Lauren inside, Blake, who had been sitting in the corner working on his laptop, finally walked over to Adeline.
He silently held her hand.
"I checked. The bouquet was from a nearby flower shop. The clerk first went to a hotel downtown to pick up the card and then delivered the flowers."
He added, "After the clerk took the card, the room was checked out. I tried to trace the person's number based on their call with the flower shop and finally found their location."
He scratched his head in frustration. "The location is in Aestrale."
Adeline was stunned for a moment, then laughed. She squatted down and ruffled Blake's hair.
"So the person knew you'd investigate and deliberately changed the phone's location, right?"
Blake nodded, his small face full of frustration.
"But Mommy, my tracking signal method is my own creation. It has always worked before. I don't know why it was discovered this time."
He sighed, his whole face scrunched up.
"I suspect the person is the same one who bound Luna's video with the virus I created last time."
He continued, "He knows me too well. He can always accurately figure out what I want to do and then use my methods to counter me."
Blake's words made Adeline curious. "So who else knows your methods and techniques besides you?"
Blake thought carefully and said, "I once taught Bennett."
