Chapter 47 Will I Never Get Married?
After a full hour, Bennett finally emerged from Jasper's study.
He returned to his room and messaged Blake from under the covers. "Blake, restore the surveillance and recording devices."
"Okay, I'll do it now."
Blake controlled the system while replying to him. "Why did it take so long?"
Even if Jasper's files were large and numerous, it shouldn't have taken this long, right?
Bennett remained silent for a moment before picking up his phone to reply to Blake. "I found something on his computer. I copied it. I'll send it to you along with these files. It's related to mommy."
"Okay." Without sensing any change in his brother's emotions, Blake replied curtly, "I've restored the system. It must be late there, so rest first and send me those files tomorrow when you wake up."
"Okay!"
Bennett placed his phone under his pillow and lay on the bed with his hands crossed, staring at the pitch-black ceiling.
In the past, he had always been influenced by mother and thought of Jasper as a scumbag who cheated on her and abandoned her.
But the things he saw on his computer...
Bennett let out a long sigh.
He felt like he was unable to understand Jasper.
He seemed different from what Bennett had imagined.
Very different.
Early the next morning, Adeline had the house staff send Bennett back.
Violet stood outside the community, waiting.
After Bennett got out of the car, she rushed up angrily and grabbed his ear. "You're so bold! Sneaking out in the middle of the night while I'm asleep? Thankfully, you were with Adeline. If you had gone somewhere else, how would I have explained it to your mommy?"
She bit her lip in anger. "Bennett, promise me you won't do it again!"
Bennett looked at this woman, who had a messy bird's nest on her head. He knew that she was worried about him, so he could only comply. "I promise, I won't sneak out while you're asleep!"
"That's better!" Violet reached out and tugged at Bennett's sleeve. "Let's go. Let's go home and sleep a bit more."
Bennett sighed helplessly. He held Violet's hand and walked into the community.
"Sir." Inside the president's office, Ryan stood respectfully in front of Jasper. "Bennett has safely returned home."
Jasper lowered his head and replied softly, "Okay."
"I don't understand." After hesitating for a long time, Ryan finally couldn't hold back and said, "Bennett drugged you and caused you to be hospitalized. Why do you care about him and treat him so well?"
"Maybe it's because I like him." Jasper lifted his head and glanced at the files in Ryan's hand. "Anything else?"
Only then did Ryan come to his senses.
He cleared his throat and placed the documents in front of Jasper.
"The investigation results of the Ferris wheel incident have come out. The findings show that everything that day was planned by someone. Currently, none of the contacts have revealed who the planner is, but I believe we will soon find out."
Jasper took the documents and flipped through them. "What else?"
"There's more." Ryan placed another set of documents on the desk. "The journalists who secretly filmed you and Adeline shopping together have also been found. It's confirmed that they were also manipulated by someone. And according to our analysis, the mastermind behind these two incidents... is the same person."
Jasper furrowed his brows. He placed the two sets of documents together.
After a moment, he waved his hand. "You can leave now."
Ryan nodded and left the office.
The door to the office was closed.
Jasper squinted his eyes, looking at the two investigation documents in front of him. His clearly defined fingers tapped on the desk.
After a while, he let out a bitter smile.
Putting the two documents together revealed one name: Molly.
It was too obvious.
She wanted to harm Lauren!
The man closed his eyes.
Molly is Adeline's beloved sister.
Even if she left, she entrusted her sister to his care through a letter.
Then there are Adeline and his biological daughter.
"Adeline, you've really given me a big problem."
The Foster Family Mansion
Molly had been waiting in the living room for half an hour.
She held a beautifully packaged box in her hands.
"Is Grandma Foster still not awake?"
Seeing the leisurely servants inside the villa, she couldn't sit still.
A servant gave her a disdainful look. "She'll be up soon."
"Miss Collins, if you really don't want to wait, you can go back. Grandma Foster doesn't want to receive guests so early in the morning."
Molly bit her lip. She felt extremely unhappy, but she still maintained a smiling face. "I can wait. I can wait as long as it takes."
She had to wait for Grandma Foster today!
Another half an hour passed, and only then did Grandma Foster come downstairs, supported by the servant, elegant and arrogant.
After seeing Molly, Grandma Foster smiled and then sat proudly on the other end of the sofa. "Miss Collins, why are you here? Is there something you need?"
"Of course, there's something!" Molly jumped up from the sofa.
She hurriedly approached Grandma and presented the box in her hand to her. "Grandma Foster, I have something for you.
"This is a piece of jewelry personally designed by a well-known jewelry designer. His designs are one-of-a-kind. There are many counterfeit products on the market, so it took me a long time to find this. It was just shipped back from overseas this morning. I've brought it for you!"
Grandma Foster frowned and opened the box.
The jewelry lying inside the box instantly caught her eye!
After a moment, Grandma Foster regained her composed expression.
She looked up and observed Molly's face calmly. "You've gone through a lot of trouble for this."
Molly sighed and said, "I intended to give you this gift on your birthday, but unfortunately..."
Grandma Foster furrowed her brows. "Unfortunately, what?"
"Unfortunately, on the day of your birthday banquet, Jasper plans to announce the cancellation of our engagement."
Grandma Foster frowned. "Cancellation of the engagement?"
"Yes." Molly sighed, her voice filled with disappointment and helplessness. A tear rolled down from the corner of her eye. "I have been Jasper's fiancée for five years. Our relationship was well-known. Suddenly, Jasper just doesn't want me anymore. I don't know how I will face others. After all, I am a public figure."
As she spoke, she pitifully wiped away her tears. "Grandma, do you think I won't be able to get married in the future?"
