Chapter 379 Luna's Boyfriend Jasper
The next morning, Adeline woke up early and carefully prepared breakfast for Blake and Lauren. She then packed her things and left with the proposal she had worked on overnight.
"Mommy." Blake called.
Adeline was just about to open the door when she heard Blake calling.
She turned around. On the stairs behind her, Blake was holding Lauren's little hand, standing there.
Seeing her turn around, he grasped Lauren's hand and strode toward her.
"Work hard, okay!" He looked up seriously at her face. "You need to make good money for me and Lauren!"
His serious demeanor made Adeline involuntarily smile.
She squatted down, gently rubbing his face. "I will."
"When you two grow up, you have to make money for me, okay!"
He nodded earnestly. "I will! When I get better, not only will I take care of Mommy and Lauren, but I'll also work hard to find Bennett."
Hearing Blake mention Bennett, Adeline's eyes slightly darkened. However, she couldn't bear to shatter Blake's fantasy.
She nodded. "Okay!"
After saying that, she kissed Blake on the forehead and let him go.
Seeing her release Blake, Lauren, who had been silent beside him, hesitated for a moment before finally hugging Adeline gently.
"Good luck." Lauren's voice was small and weak, but Adeline heard it clearly.
A trace of comfort flashed through her heart.
Lauren's depression and autism were most evident in her reluctance to communicate with people.
Now that she was willing to talk to her and cheer her on, it showed that there was hope for recovery in the short term!
Thinking of this, a warm feeling rose in Adeline's heart. Both Blake and Lauren were moving in a positive direction.
If she could work hard to cure their illnesses, Bennett might forgive her mistakes.
Thinking of this, shee took a deep breath and hugged Lauren tightly once more. She reminded Alice to take good care of them before leaving.
Standing at the door, Lauren watched Adeline's departing figure, turned her head in confusion, and looked at Blake. "Daddy really won't cover our medical expenses?"
Blake squinted. "Maybe it's not that he won't. He just doesn't want Mama to continue being sad."
Only by having a real goal to strive for and keeping busy would she have no time to dwell on things that made her sad.
Lauren nodded, half understanding.
After a while, she turned to Blake. "Does Daddy really have a new lover?"
He shrugged. "I don't know."
He was just a six-year-old child; how could he understand every adult's thoughts?
Full of energy, Adeline arrived at Foster Group. The first thing she did was not go to the design department but to Jasper's CEO office.
Last night, she had carefully calculated that Blake's surgery and post-operative recovery, along with Lauren's psychological treatment, would cost about a million dollars.
She currently had only four hundred thousand dollars in her account.
In other words, she needed to acquire six hundred thousand in half a month.
Although Jasper's salary for her was already astronomical, it was still far from enough.
So, she had worked overnight to come up with a proposal to discuss a business deal with Jasper.
Standing at his office door for the first time in over a month, she took a deep breath, composed herself, and was about to knock when she heard Luna's voice from inside.
"Jasper, it's okay. You go ahead with your work. Skipping breakfast is no big deal." Luna said gently and sweetly, tinged with slight coquettishness.
Adeline's hand, poised to knock, froze in mid-air.
This voice reminded her of seeing Luna at the mall two days ago.
This voice must've been Luna's, right?
"Drink your milk. Right now, your health is the most important to me." Jasper said with deep voice.
Luna's voice followed. "Skipping one meal is no big deal; I'm really not hungry."
Adeline bit her lip hard and silently withdrew her hand.
Their conversation inside the room reminded her. Since getting up this morning, although she had made breakfast for Blake and Lauren, she hadn't eaten anything herself.
"Adeline?" Just as Adeline was hesitating whether to knock and interrupt Luna and Jasper, Jason's shocked voice came from behind.
Adeline frowned and turned around.
Standing behind her, Jason looked at her with wide eyes.
She clearly heard that when he called her, Luna and Jasper's voices inside the room vanished.
After a moment of awkwardness, Adeline smiled at Jason.
"Why are you here?" He frowned and walked over, his eyes catching the folder in her arms. "Are you back to work?"
She nodded and smiled. "After all, I'm an employee here. I took more than a month off due to illness; I can't keep doing that."
Her mental resilience was indeed strong.
She had seen Jasper and Luna together just yesterday and was heartbroken, yet today she appeared at Jasper's office door, looking radiant and claiming she was back to work.
As they were talking, the office door behind Adeline opened from the inside.
The one who opened it was Luna, dressed in a white cotton-linen dress.
Upon seeing that the visitor was Adeline, she acted shocked as she gazed at her face.
"Were you at Emerald Crest Estate yesterday? I saw you when my boyfriend Jasper and I were entering," Luna said.
Her gentle voice made Adeline's eyes narrow slightly.
Luna could naturally regard Jasper as her boyfriend, indicating their relationship was almost fully established.
As an adult, Adeline knew the quickest way for two people to develop a relationship in less than two days.
Thinking of Jasper placing Luna at Emerald Crest Estate and her earlier words, Adeline smiled mockingly. "Yes, we met yesterday."
"I'm the design director of the Foster Group's jewelry design department. My name is Adeline."
She extended her hand to Luna gracefully and gently, "Hello, future Mrs. Foster."
Luna was surprised attitude, then quickly responded, extending her hand to shake Adeline'ss. She shyly said, "My name is Luna. For now, I'm just Jasper's girlfriend."
She blushed. "The title of Mrs. Foster is still a long way off."
