Chapter 478 Jasper Isn't Worth It
The night was deep. Blue Bay was brightly lit.
Almost all the staff in the villa had been dismissed by Lauren and Alice.
Now, the villa housed only Adeline with Lauren and Blake, Vikram, and Alice stationed at the door.
"So." Sitting on the sofa, Adeline could hardly believe her ears and eyes. "Luna has evidence of you accidentally killing someone back then?"
Vikram sighed and nodded dejectedly. "Yes. Back then, Luna and I were the couple everyone envied at school. We were very happy together. The deceased Caroline Jude was Luna's roommate. Caroline had a happy family; her father was a businessman, and her mother was a dancer. So she always looked down on Luna, who was an orphan from the countryside"
As Vikram spoke, he couldn't help but cover his face with his hand."I didn't mean to kill Caroline.That day, Luna said Caroline bullied her, forcing her to drink foot wash water. So I was furious. Luna and I arranged to meet Caroline on the school rooftop. I bullied Caroline to vent Luna's anger, while Luna filmed Caroline's embarrassing state to use as leverage, so she wouldn't dare to insult Luna again."
Adeline pursed her lips. "So later, Luna filmed the moment you accidentally pushed Caroline off the roof?"
Vikram nodded vigorously.
Vikram said, "After Caroline fell from the top floor, she was rushed to the hospital but died despite the rescue efforts. Luna and I insisted that Caroline accidentally fell. Since there were no cameras on the rooftop, the police released us after a week due to insufficient evidence to charge us with murder. My mother was furious about this and forced me to break up with Luna. Since then, I never saw Luna again until she became Jasper's girlfriend."
Adeline closed her eyes. She hadn't expected Vikram to help Luna for this reason.
Vikram said, "I've seen that video. The filming angle is strange; it doesn't show that I accidentally pushed Caroline. It looks more like I premeditatedly pushed her while she was standing on the edge of the rooftop."
Vikram sighed, looking earnestly at Adeline."That's why I didn't dare to expose Luna's fake illness and had to follow her orders, providing her with money and support. But I never truly wanted to harm you with her."
Vikram's words made Adeline's heart skip a beat.
After a while, she sighed. "I misunderstood you."
Vikram asked, "So, Adeline, what are you planning to do now?"
When he revealed his long-hidden secret, Vikram felt much lighter. He even began to care about Adeline's next steps.
Adeline shrugged. "I plan to find a time to leave Radiance Springs with Blake and Lauren."
But before leaving, she had to meet Molly and find out the identity of the boy with her. Was he just a child who looked a lot like Bennett and Blake, or was he Bennett himself?
"But Mommy." After a long silence, Lauren, who had been quietly listening to the adults' conversation, pursed her lips."Lauren wants Daddy to know Luna's true colors."
Lauren's words made Adeline pause slightly.
Adeline walked over to Lauren and hugged her."Lauren, didn't we agree that your daddy's matters have nothing to do with us anymore?"
Lauren bit her lip and timidly gazed at Adeline with wide, blinking. She lowered her head. "But Mommy, Jasper is still Lauren's biological daddy. Since Lauren returned to the country, Daddy has been quite good to Lauren. Lauren wants to do one last thing for Daddy before leaving him."
She looked up at Adeline with a serious expression."After Lauren leaves Radiance Springs with Mommy, he won't be Lauren and Blake's daddy anymore; he'll be a stranger."
Lauren's words made Adeline pause.
After she finished speaking, the room fell silent.
Blake, sitting on the sofa with his laptop, quietly glanced at Adeline, then at Lauren. Then he finally turned his gaze to Vikram."Now, the person who most wants Luna's fake illness exposed should be you, right?"
Vikram was stunned, then he nodded and smiled awkwardly.
Vikram said, "After all, I've suffered a lot because of it."
If Luna's fake illness wasn't exposed, he would have to keep her secret while being threatened by her.
Most importantly, Luna had spent millions of his dollars to win people over to deal with Adeline. He almost had to sell his sports car.
If Luna's fake illness was exposed, Jasper would definitely cut ties with her. Then Luna would have no leverage to compete with Adeline and she wouldn't continue to ask him for money or trouble him.
Adeline hugged Lauren and sighed deeply. "Lauren, Mommy knows you're a kind child."
Adeline looked seriously into Lauren's eyes."But Jasper isn't worth it."
Adeline's words made Lauren pause.
Lauren said, "But..."
Adeline said, "Enough."
Adeline raised her hand to rub Lauren's head, recalling the scene on the hospital rooftop where she saw Jasper leaving with Luna in his arms.
Adeline took a deep breath. "Jasper being deceived is his own business. If he wasn't always defending Luna and falling for her, he wouldn't have been deceived. Their matters have nothing to do with us. You and Blake should rest well these days. Once Mommy resolves things here, we'll leave."
After saying this, she didn't wait for Lauren's response and stood up. She glanced at Vikram."It's late; you should go back."
Vikram was stunned.
He thought that after telling Adeline all this and with Lauren wanting to help Jasper, she would at least consider how to help Jasper. But he didn't expect her to refuse outright.
Vikram paused. "You're really not going to help Jasper expose Luna's true colors?"
"I'm not." Adeline stood up and opened the villa door."Someone who is no longer related to me being deceived—if I help, it's my kindness; if I don't，this is as it should be. Goodbye!"
With that, Adeline closed the villa door.
Vikram stood outside, looking at the closed iron gate, and sighed helplessly.
He turned around and was about to get in his car, when a black car stopped in front of him.
The car window rolled down, revealing Jasper's chiseled face."Get in."
