Chapter 276 How's Your Wound?
Stella never imagined she'd show up at Jasper's place dressed like this only to hear him say that!
Her face went pale for a moment, but she quickly forced a gentle smile. "Jasper." She walked around the desk and sat right on his lap, her fingers tracing the hard lines of his face. "With you here, I wouldn't feel cold even if I wore nothing at all."
Her moves were too tempting, and her expression was hard to resist. But Jasper frowned and lifted her off his lap.
He reached for the cup on the table, took a sip, and asked, "Weren't you here to apologize?"
Leaning back in his chair, he put some space between them. "For what, and to whom?"
Stella frowned but still tried to get closer. "After you went upstairs, I thought about it. Adeline never actually said 'like father, like daughter' to me."
She sighed. "Someone else said it. I remembered wrong."
Stella delicately retrieved the cup from Jasper's grasp, placed it back on the table, and enveloped her arms around his neck. With alluring crimson lips, she murmured, "Jasper, could you find it in your heart to forgive me?"
"You should be apologizing to Adeline, not me." Jasper rubbed his forehead, and just before her lips touched his, he raised his hand to stop her. "I have work to do."
Stella was determined to get physical with Jasper.
Biting her lip shyly, she said, "But Jasper, it's been half a month. I'm your wife. Can't you be more open with me?" Her voice was soft, her expression pleading, her face stunning, her figure perfect, and her nightgown barely covering her long legs and beautiful curves.
Jasper had to admit that the scene was captivating, but he sighed, "Stella." He cupped her face in his hands, his tone serious. "I said what Daniel did has nothing to do with you, but he's still your father."
"He almost went to jail for attempted murder today. Is it the right time for this now?"
Stella opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out.
Jasper had spoken. If she kept pushing, she'd only make him mad.
Feeling wronged, Stella reluctantly got up. "Jasper, I'm sorry, I..."
Jasper raised a hand, gently supporting his forehead. "It's late. Go rest."
Seeing him so weary, Stella bit her lip tightly.
Despite her reluctance, she drew in a deep breath, offered another apology, and turned to depart.
The study door was closed with a slam. Jasper supported his head with one hand and closed his eyes.
He knew Stella's needs were normal, but for some reason, even with her advances, he couldn't muster any interest.
Years of self-discipline had made him incredibly resistant to such situations, and Stella just now couldn't flip that switch to excite him.
Jasper furrowed his brow in confusion.
But back in Neon City, and even after returning, they could be pretty wild.
It could be because of what happened today.
Jasper sighed, stood up from his chair, and called Ryan. "Get the car ready. We're heading to the office."
Ryan's voice on the phone was full of surprise. "It's late. Why go to the office now?"
"Overtime." Jasper's car roared to life and sped off.
Stella, seething with pent-up anger, grabbed a vase from the table and smashed it onto the floor with a loud crash! The shattering sound gave her a twisted sense of relief.
Still fuming, she bit her lip and started hurling everything within reach to the ground!
After a while, the staff rushed up and stood outside the door, whispering among themselves, too scared to knock and intervene.
Hearing the murmurs, Stella stormed to the door and flung it open. "If anyone dares to tell Jasper about tonight, don't bother staying at Blue Bay!"
The staff exchanged glances nervously, all lowering their heads in silence.
Finally, one brave soul stepped forward. "Mrs. Foster, I'm here to serve Lauren and Bennett. Bennett asked me to tell you they're going to the amusement park with Adeline tomorrow, so they need to rest well tonight. Please don't disturb them."
The staff's words made Stella's blood boil!
It had been a tough day for her, and those two kids were only worried about their sleep and their outing at the amusement park tomorrow!
Damn it!
Fuming, Stella glared at the staff member and slammed the door shut.
When Stella lay back on the bed, her anger and grievances only grew.
Finally, she made up her mind. Adeline wanted to take the kids out for a fun day? Dream on!
Early the next morning, Adeline got up promptly.
Violet, who was sleeping in the bed next to hers, watched her excitedly getting ready and couldn't help but smile. "Is this the last outing before Bennett and Lauren leave?"
Adeline chuckled and nodded. "Of course."
Most importantly, today was all about her and the kids spending time together without Jasper and definitely not Stella, which was a complete family outing of just the three of them.
Adeline was genuinely happy.
At seven in the morning, Adeline got a call from Ryan. "We're downstairs at the hospital. Do you want us to come up?"
Adeline laughed. "I'll come down myself!"
She put on her coat and headed downstairs with her bag, which was filled with snacks she had bought last night with Violet.
Had her shoulder not been injured, she would have personally cooked a meal for Bennett and Lauren.
But now, with her injury, she had to make do with packaged snacks for them.
With these thoughts in mind, Adeline made her way downstairs.
From a distance, she saw the RV parked at the hospital entrance. Adeline was somewhat surprised that it was just her and the kids going out, yet an RV had been arranged.
Excitedly, she walked over, her smile still on her face, only to see Stella, wearing a red dress, stepping out of the RV, who was smiling at Adeline, "Is your wound okay?"
"I already told Jasper that you're a patient. It's better if we take Bennett and Lauren out ourselves."
"But Jasper said your wound is fine, and you can fully take the kids out."
Looking at Adeline with concern, Stella added, "Are you really okay? We're going to the amusement park today. If your wound opens up, it wouldn't be good."
