Chapter 272 I Also Know Another Secret of Yours
Jasper's words made Adeline and Daniel freeze.
Adeline felt her whole body tense up and turned around slowly.
Jasper, tall and elegant, leaned against the door with a playful look in his eyes. "Well, I've got some time now. What do you want me to say to Adeline?"
Daniel's face went pale. He glanced stiffly at Jasper, then forced a smile. "Of course, I want you to persuade Adeline to stop meddling in other people's relationships."
Jasper entered, pulled out a chair, and seated himself. "Would you care to elaborate on how Adeline is managing that?" "Adeline's"
Daniel's expression soured even more.
Jasper waved behind him. Tim and Tom each escorted two men into the room.
Upon seeing the four men bound, Daniel instinctively took a step back, his expression grim.
Jasper leaned back in his chair, crossing his legs. "Security just informed me they saw some suspicious individuals downstairs."
"After checking the surveillance footage, it turns out you brought them here." Jasper tapped the desk with his fingers. "These guys might be able to hit women, but they're no match for Foster Group security."
Daniel's face changed rapidly.
Adeline was stunned for a moment before she figured it out. She looked at Daniel in disbelief. "Did you actually arrange for people to attack me?"
With the plan exposed, Daniel dropped the act, glaring coldly at Adeline. "Did you really think I came here to take you in as my daughter?"
"Stella was right. You've been dreaming of joining the Collins family."
"Even your name is the same as Stella's before she changed it!"
Daniel's mocking tone grew sharper. "When I said I was your dad, you hesitated. Did you think you hit the jackpot and could stand proudly with my daughter?"
"Let me tell you, Adeline, it's impossible! Never in your life!"
Daniel sighed with regret. "Too bad. Today was supposed to be a success."
Adeline clenched her fists. She looked at the man in front of her, who seemed like a lunatic, who was her father.
Just two days ago, locked up in the police station, he had begged her for mercy, looking pitiful. Now, he had a completely different demeanor.
He came here calling her honey, saying she was his daughter; everything he did was to humiliate her!
Adeline closed her eyes. If it weren't for Jasper, she might have been tricked into going downstairs for "coffee."
Once she did, she would have been ambushed and beaten by his men.
It was the father she had always tried to defend!
After a while, Adeline looked up, her eyes filled with hatred. "Daniel, if I had known you were like this, I wouldn't have pleaded for you. I shouldn't have let you go."
"You should have rotted in prison!"
Daniel laughed. "You did that for me? The reason I got out of the police station is that my son-in-law Jasper went to see Brian himself and convinced him to take the blame!"
Daniel snorted, looking at Adeline with disdain. "Adeline, who do you think you are? Just someone desperate to be my daughter and steal my son-in-law."
"Daniel!" Adeline gritted her teeth, her fists cracking as she clenched them. "Since you walked free from the plagiarism incident, do you think you're safe now?"
"There are no secrets that stay hidden forever."
She looked up, her gaze cold. "Don't forget, I know another one of your secrets."
Daniel frowned, sneering. "What can you do to me?"
"You don't know me well." Adeline smiled, pulling a chair beside her and sitting down. Crossing her legs elegantly, she spoke softly, "My greatest strength isn't just designing jewelry; it's my memory."
"I remember things from years ago."
"For example, over twenty years ago, there was an orphanage in the east of Neon City."
Daniel chuckled. "An orphanage from over twenty years ago? How does that relate to me..."
Before he could finish, his eyes widened.
The orphanage in the east over twenty years ago! That was where he had switched Molly with the second daughter he had with Helen!
Daniel stared at Adeline in shock. "How did you..."
How did she know?
That orphanage had been demolished long ago!
How did Adeline find out?
"I even remember who the director of that orphanage was," Adeline added.
Daniel took a step back. When he was at the police station, trying to gain Adeline's forgiveness, he told her everything about switching the children.
It had only been two days, and she had already found the orphanage and the director.
Adeline had such remarkable abilities! Cold sweat formed on Daniel's forehead.
If she knew this much, sooner or later, she would find evidence of him switching the children!
The child he had switched was from a prestigious family abroad. If they pursued this, he would not only lose Molly, his beloved daughter, but could also end up in prison, which would be much worse than leaking Foster Group's secrets!
Realizing this, Daniel narrowed his eyes. "Adeline, you shouldn't push it too far."
Adeline laughed. "Mr. Collins, am I the one pushing it too far?"
"Even though I overlooked the plagiarism incident, what is the reason for you coming to me today?"
She pointed at the four men Tim and Tom had brought in, bound and tied up. "If I had gone downstairs with you, would I have been beaten?"
"So, am I?"
Adeline glared at Daniel, her voice breaking from excitement. "Your whole family has repeatedly plotted against me, insulted me!"
"I overlooked this out of respect for your and Helen's age and the sake of your daughter!"
"But you just won't let it go!"
"Since you show no remorse and still want to hurt me, I have no reason to show you any mercy."
Adeline turned to Tim. "Call the police, have them arrested!"
