Chapter 556 Do You Have Her in Your Heart or Not?
Adeline looked up and almost passed out from the shock of what she saw.
Blake, barefoot and tied to a big rock, was teetering on the edge of a cliff. Below him? Nothing but a terrifying drop.
Luna, meanwhile, was casually leaning against the rock, a sly smile on her face and a knife in her hand, its blade gleaming in the rain.
"I thought you'd take longer to catch up," Luna said, her voice dripping with mockery. She toyed with the knife, glancing down at it. "I made a bet with Blake here. I said, let's see how long it takes for you guys to show up. Every hour, I cut one of the ropes holding him."
She turned and counted the ropes binding Blake. "Eight ropes. I've already cut one; now there are seven left."
Then she turned to Jasper and laughed. "Jasper, look how considerate I am. I gave you eight hours to say goodbye to your son."
The sight of Luna's cruel smile and the whole horrifying scene made Adeline feel like she was going to collapse.
Adeline couldn't believe someone could be this evil. Luna was a total maniac!
Jasper held onto Adeline, his eyes cold as he stared at Luna. "What do you want?"
"Just his life," Luna said with a smirk, her eyes locking onto Jasper's. "You know exactly why I want Blake dead, don't you?"
Jasper's grip on Adeline tightened, his knuckles turning white. He knew all too well that the bone marrow Blake received had come from Luna.
Jasper gritted his teeth, glaring at Luna. "I'll give you whatever you want."
"Really?" Luna propped her chin on her hand, her eyes mocking. "You said that before. You promised to stay with me until I died, but you wanted to back out, didn't you?"
Jasper fought to keep his anger in check. "I said that because I thought you were dying and only had a year left!"
Luna's smirk widened. "Now that you know I'm not dying, you want to ditch me? Adeline was right; you're a fickle, ungrateful jerk. I used to think if I stayed by your side, I'd win your heart. Now I see how naive I was."
She played with the knife, pretending to cut another rope, making Adeline's heart race with fear.
As Luna's blade neared the rope, Adeline's voice broke with desperation. "Luna! If you have a problem, take it out on me!"
Adeline bit her lip, breaking free from Jasper's hold, and faced Luna with determination. "I'm the one who exposed the truth and the one who gathered evidence against you. Leave my son out of this."
She glanced at Blake, pale and tied to the rock, staring into the abyss. Despite his usual maturity, he looked terrified. He was just a six-year-old kid, after all.
Seeing Blake's nervous face, Adeline took a deep breath. "If you think Jasper or I wronged you, then tie me up and throw me off the cliff! My son is just a kid; don't make him suffer. I'm willing to trade myself for him!"
Adeline's plea made Luna burst into laughter.
Luna laughed and cut another rope binding Blake. "Trade yourself for Blake? Adeline, you wish. Sure, what you did pissed me off, but come on."
Luna raised an eyebrow and sneered. "You mean nothing to Jasper, but Blake? He's different. Blake is his biological son. Tying Blake here is like tying Jasper's heart here. Why would I trade someone so important for someone worthless to him?"
Luna's words hit Adeline hard.
After a moment, she bit her lip. Luna was right. Jasper didn't care about her. To him, she was nothing.
Seeing the light fade from Adeline's eyes, Luna felt a rush of satisfaction. This was exactly what she wanted!
In fact, Luna knew that if she hadn't come to find Blake today, she'd never have a chance to turn her life around.
That morning, she got a call from Vikram.
On the phone, Vikram told her he had found out about her framing Caroline and conspiring with Scott to set up Lucas.
Caroline and Lucas were both killed by Luna. Caroline's death was an accident, but it was still part of her plan. The day Caroline died was the day they planned to push Vikram off the rooftop. Luna had hidden a camera in the corner to catch Caroline pushing Vikram, planning to blackmail her later. It was a perfect plan, but Vikram was unpredictable. In the end, Caroline fell.
Luna was afraid Caroline would spill their plot to the police, so she took the camera to the hospital to threaten her. But instead, she caught Scott suffocating Caroline.
Later, Scott found out about her.
Because Caroline's father, Lucas, knew some secrets he shouldn't have, Luna and Scott planned his car accident together.
Luna thought no one would ever find out. But she didn't expect Scott to hide all the evidence in his office at the hospital. Vikram broke in the night before and took everything.
Luna knew that besides deceiving Jasper, her involvement in two murders would eventually come to light.
Since she couldn't escape punishment, she might as well take someone down with her and end it all before the police caught her! And if she could make Jasper and Adeline hate each other before she died, that would be a bonus.
Thinking of this, she smirked. "What, not convinced?"
She lowered her head, playing with the knife, and smirked. "So, Jasper, do you want to tell her yourself whether you care about her or not?"
