Chapter 690 This Is Not Something You Should Be Concerned About

Adeline's first instinct was to grab Mia when she saw her step forward.

As a friend, Adeline knew very well that Mia had no desire to recover the memories she had lost.

Otherwise, with Mia's current resources, it would have been impossible for her not to seek any doctors or specialists for treatment after all this time.

Because she knew they were bad memories, she didn't want to remember them.

And now, Mia was willing to step forward entirely for Adeline and Bennett.

Adeline held Mia's arm and silently shook her head. "Mia, let it go."

Even though Adeline desperately wanted Bennett to regain his memory, she didn't want her friend to make such a sacrifice for her.

Mia, however, gently pulled her hand away from Adeline's grip.

Taking a deep breath, Mia walked up to the group of specialists.

"My situation is very similar to Bennett's. Six years ago, I had nearly a year's worth of memories erased with drugs. I might be your perfect test subject."

The specialists exchanged glances and quickly rushed forward, eagerly shaking Mia's hand and asking her about her amnesia.

Though impatient, Mia recounted her experience of losing her memory.

Finally, she glanced at Adeline and exhaled deeply.

"I've always known that what I lost were bad memories, so I never wanted to get them back. But..."

She smiled faintly. "When Molly said I lost my memory after having a child, I started dreaming about a child. I need to find out what happened back then."

In fact, she had come to the hospital today for an evaluation.

The results showed that Mia had indeed given birth to a child.

After receiving the evaluation, Mia had been hesitant about whether to recover her memories.

Now she had made up her mind.

Ignoring Adeline and Jasper's objections, Mia signed the experimental agreement with the specialists to recover her memories.

Just as Sebastian had said, the specialists' method for memory recovery involved using electric shocks to stimulate the brain and unblock the nerves affected by the drugs.

Through the large glass window, Adeline watched Mia lying on the bed, electrodes attached to her head, writhing in pain from the electric shocks.

Adeline couldn't bear to watch any longer and turned away. Even with her back turned, she could still hear Mia's faint, anguished screams.

Jasper held her in his arms remianed silent.

Sebastian, standing nearby, listened to the sounds and felt a pang of guilt.

"If I hadn't deliberately thrown away the drugs Molly gave me, the one lying there for Bennett's experiment would be me."

Hearing his remorseful tone, Adeline pursed her lips. "Sebastian, don't say that."

If Sebastian hadn't avoided amnesia and contacted them in time, Bennett's return home might not have gone so smoothly.

Sebastian looked deeply at Adeline, his gaze finally resting on Jasper's hand on her shoulder.

Sensing Sebastian's gaze, Adeline stiffened and quickly pushed Jasper's hand away.

Sebastian noticed her actions and smiled wryly. "Why are you so nervous? If he didn't put his hand on your shoulder, I wouldn't have known you two patched things up."

Adeline's face blushed as she bit her lip. "Sebastian, I'm sorry."

"Why apologize?" Sebastian gave her a helpless look. "There's no right or wrong in feelings. I'm happy you two made up. But once Bennett's memory is restored, I'll be leaving."

He smiled bitterly. "I can't fail in love and family."

Adeline was about to say something, when a loud noise came from the treatment room.

The three of them quickly turned to follow the sound.

Inside the treatment room, the specialists were frantically adjusting the equipment.

On the bed, Mia lay motionless, her face deathly pale.

Adeline's eyes widened, and she burst into the room.

"What happened?"

The specialists, sweating profusely, were running tests. "There's no problem; she's still alive. It's just... we don't know why she suddenly stopped moving!"

Adeline looked down at Mia's tightly closed eyes and pale face, almost ready to curse.

"What kind of treatment are you giving her?"

"Adeline..."

As Adeline was about to lose her temper, Mia weakly opened her eyes.

"Don't blame the specialists... their treatment is effective, even if it's uncomfortable. I... I remember everything."

She smiled bitterly. "It's just... too painful."

Tears streamed down Mia's face and soaked her pillow.

"I really did have a child, a cute little boy with big, bright eyes. But I only saw him once before Thomas and someone named Daphne Stewart took him away..."

Mia climbed out of bed and collapsed into Adeline's arms, sobbing uncontrollably.

"My child! I never even got to hold him before he was taken away. Thomas used my child to get twenty thousand dollars to gamble, and he lost it all in one night. How could he be so heartless as to use my child for an exchange?"

As a mother herself, Adeline understood Mia's pain.

She held Mia's frail body tightly. "Don't cry. As long as your child is alive, we'll find him. If someone paid twenty thousand dollars to take your child, they wouldn't treat him badly. He must be healthy and well now!"

Adeline's words brought some comfort to Mia.

Once Mia calmed down, Jasper arranged with the specialists for Bennett's memory recovery treatment.

Adeline, following a tip from Violet, a local of Radiance Springs, learned about Daphne's identity.

She lived in the slums on the south side of town, dealing in shady business.

Violet provided detailed information, including a photo of Daphne.

When Adeline showed the photo to Mia, her eyes lit up.

"It's her! It's definitely her!"

With that, she grabbed Adeline and rushed out of the hospital, heading to the address in the information.

By the time the two women arrived at Daphne's house, it was already evening.

A black Cayenne was parked outside Daphne's door.

As Mia and Adeline entered the yard, they heard a man's cold voice from inside.

"I want all the information on that woman from six years ago!"

The deep voice made Mia freeze in her tracks.
