Chapter 340 Does she Truly Care For Sebastian that Deeply?
Adeline took a deep breath before answering. "I'm not sure yet, just a hunch."
"And if you are pregnant, are you thinking about an abortion?"
Adeline shook her head. "I want to keep it a secret from him and have the baby."
Chloe nodded, jotting down notes. "So, you want a blood test and a hormone panel? If you want to keep this quiet, we should run a few extra tests to make it look legit."
"Thanks," Adeline said, smiling gratefully.
Chloe smiled back. "Happy to help." She paused. "You're friends with Linda, right?"
Adeline nodded, a bit surprised by the change in topic.
"She's something else," Chloe chuckled. "Terminating the pregnancy is a risky choice for her, but she's determined."
She finished writing the order and handed it to Adeline. "Linda's lucky. David absolutely adores her."
Adeline managed a wry smile. "It's tough for her," she said, taking the slip.
"No woman has it easy," Chloe said, winking before leaving.
A nurse soon arrived to draw Adeline's blood and take her to the other tests.
The blood work came back quickly. By the time Adeline finished her last test, the nurse handed her the results.
Adeline took the papers and, making sure no one was watching, ducked into the restroom.
She sat on the toilet, hands trembling as she unfolded the results.
Positive.
The blood test confirmed her pregnancy, and her hormone levels matched early stages. She was almost three months along.
Adeline stared at the results, her heart pounding with shock, joy, and relief.
She remembered that night with Jasper at the hotel near the amusement park. The timing was perfect.
She had conceived Jasper's child that night.
Tears streamed down her face, a mix of relief and elation.
Finally, she could save Blake. Her precious son finally had a chance to survive.
Thinking of Blake, her sweet boy she hadn't seen in so long, brought more tears. If it weren't for his illness, if it weren't for needing a child to save him, she would never have left him alone overseas.
He might be mature for his age, but he was still just six.
But now, everything would be alright.
She was pregnant.
Her ordeal would soon be over. Once Linda's situation was resolved, she wouldn't have to deal with Jasper or Stella anymore.
Sebastian was now with Bennett and Lauren.
When the time was right, she'd have Brandon's people contact Sebastian, and they'd take both kids back.
Once Blake was cured, their family of four – no, by then, they'd be a family of five – could finally be whole.
She would cherish the child growing inside her, the child who would save his brother.
Still holding the test results, Adeline pulled out her phone. She wanted to share the good news with her kids, but given the time difference, they were probably asleep.
She thought about calling Violet but decided against it, not wanting to interrupt her date with Ethan.
Finally, she decided to tell Linda first.
Taking a deep breath, she left the restroom.
Her backpack and coat were still in the exam room, so she headed back to the clinic room.
Jasper had been pacing outside the room, talking on his phone when Adeline left for her tests. Now, over half an hour later, he was gone. Only Ryan was still there.
"Everything alright?" Ryan asked, standing up as Adeline approached.
"I'm fine," she replied, grabbing her stuff. "The doctor said the results will take a while."
She had already arranged with Chloe to stagger the release of her test results.
"Where's Jasper?" she asked, glancing at Ryan.
"Mrs. Foster called. It seemed urgent, so he went to see her," Ryan explained with a small smile.
Adeline's heart sank.
Of course.
Jasper might have seemed concerned earlier, even insistent on hearing her symptoms firsthand, but he wouldn't hesitate to leave if Stella called.
But something had shifted within Adeline. The news of her pregnancy had changed her perspective.
She smiled at Ryan. "I understand. Mr. Foster should prioritize Mrs. Foster. They're such a perfect match, destined to be together."
Ignoring Ryan's stunned expression, she stepped into the elevator. "I'm going to see Linda," she said lightly.
Ryan watched her go, bewildered. He shook his head and pulled out his phone.
"Mr. Foster, Adeline's back," he reported. "She's in a very... peculiar mood."
He hesitated, then added, "As per your instructions, I told her you went to see Mrs. Foster. She seemed pleased and even said that you and Mrs. Foster are a perfect match, destined to be together."
He couldn't help but ask, "Did something happen during her examination? She seems... different."
While it was true that Jasper and Stella were well-suited, Adeline's past behavior and attitude towards Stella suggested she would never say such things. She had always seen Stella as competition, even going so far as to engineer encounters with Jasper during this trip to Neon City.
What could have happened during a simple hospital visit to cause such a drastic change? She was now celebrating the very union she had once envied and resented.
Ryan was utterly perplexed.
"I understand," came Jasper's curt reply before he hung up.
"It seems the news of this child has brought her immense joy," he mused, a cold glint in his eyes.
David glanced at the computer screen in his office on the hospital's top floor. The electronic reports of Adeline's tests were displayed prominently.
She was pregnant.
The conception date was just a fortnight after Linda's.
He turned to Jasper. "Is it yours?" he asked pointedly.
Jasper clenched his fists, his silence speaking volumes.
It was Sebastian's.
He hadn't touched Adeline since she had become Sebastian's girlfriend.
The timing coincided with the night at the hotel near the amusement park, the night Bennett and Lauren had left.
He remembered it vividly. He and Adeline had been drinking, and one thing led to another... a stolen kiss, fueled by alcohol and a moment of weakness.
But when he woke up, it was Stella he held in his arms.
And Adeline? She was disheveled, lying beside Sebastian.
After that, she admitted to being in a relationship with him.
"The child isn't mine," Jasper said flatly.
"Not yours?" David echoed, eyebrows shooting up. "Then whose is it? Sebastian's?"
Jasper's gaze hardened. "Yes," he said, barely a whisper.
"Interesting," David mused. "If it were your child, I doubt she'd be so happy."
It was the fact that she was carrying Sebastian's child that brought her such uncharacteristic joy, even prompting her to bless Jasper and Stella's union.
'Does she truly care for Sebastian that deeply?' Jasper felt annoyed.
