Chapter 280 Why Was Sebastian Here?

Adeline smiled. "It's pretty similar."

"But she doesn't seem to like it anymore," Jasper sighed. "People change. She's not who she used to be."

Adeline looked at him. "What about you? Are you the same?"

Jasper paused, then smiled. "You didn't know the old me."

Adeline smirked. "True." No one knew the old Jasper better than she did.

The restaurant fell silent again. As they finished their meal, the rain stopped outside, leaving a fresh scent of earth in the air.

Spending time with the kids today had relaxed Jasper. After dinner, he invited Adeline to the hotel rooftop to admire the moon.

In the rain-washed night sky, the moon was hidden, with only scattered stars visible. Jasper stood on the rooftop with a highball glass, gazing at the city lights.

Adeline stood beside him, silently looking at the sky, her mood gradually calming. It felt like their souls were being cleansed.

As Jasper finished his drink, he started talking to Adeline about the years she spent alone with Bennett and Lauren.

Today's interaction showed Jasper how Adeline opened up to the kids, making him realize he could never make up for the six years he missed in their lives. But he could still understand.

At first, Adeline resisted talking about the kids with Jasper because he was too perceptive; she feared one wrong move would reveal she actually had three children.

However, after consuming five or six glasses of wine, Jasper's speech became slurred, and Adeline grew more at ease, casually discussing the children's history.

"Bennett has always been responsible. Since Lauren's health was poor and I was busy, he even learned to cook for his sister."

"One time, I came home from work and smelled eggs. I found Bennett standing on a stool, frying eggs, covered in oil." Her eyes carried tenderness and love as she spoke.

Jasper watched her almost flawless profile, the light in her eyes, and his heart pounded.

With alcohol clouding his judgment, Jasper turned to her. "Adeline." She hesitated, then looked at him.

In that split second, Jasper's highball glass fell, and his kiss was sudden and irresistible.

After a moment of shock, Adeline tried to push away but ended up with her hands on Jasper's waist.

Adeline closed her eyes, feeling his gentle touch. She couldn't tell if she was accepting him for Blake's illness or something else.

Their encounter moved from the rooftop to Jasper's room. The night was long and filled with ambiguity.

In a room on the second floor, Stella, who had been caught in the rain, finished showering and blow-drying her hair. She defiantly put on a revealing nightgown, determined to win over Jasper.

Today was her mistake, giving Adeline the chance to hang out with Jasper and the kids. But tonight, Jasper was hers!

After changing, she put on a coat and went upstairs. She had already gotten Jasper's room key from Ryan and told him not to come up.

After all, she was still Jasper's wife, and Ryan had to obey.

Taking a deep breath, she confidently took out the key. Earlier, Ryan had told her Jasper had drunk quite a bit tonight. So...

"Adeline..." Stella inserted the key into the lock but hadn't turned it yet when she heard the mixed breathing of a man and a woman from the room.

The sound was too harsh; resentment flashed in Stella's eyes. She gripped the key tightly.

If she opened the door and caught them, Adeline and Jasper would never have a chance again! But if she did that, would Adeline reveal her true identity out of desperation?

Morris had been in prison for just over a month, and Stella hadn't gained much at the Foster Group.

If her identity were exposed now, she and the Quinn Family would lose everything! Thinking this, Stella swallowed her anger, put the key away, and entered the adjacent room.

The hotel had good soundproofing, so even though she sat next to Jasper's room, she couldn't hear anything. But not hearing didn't mean it wasn't happening.

Restless, Stella flipped through the news on her phone, planning to use the same trick again to move Adeline to this room.

Then, she came across a piece of news:

[Renowned artist Sebastian's residence is exposed today, and it turns out he has been living in Willowcrest Terrace.]

[Now Willowcrest Terrace has been surrounded by his art fans. It is reported that Sebastian didn't return home tonight. Where could he be?]

Stella narrowed her eyes, a plan forming in her mind.

A night of debauchery. The next morning, a sore Adeline woke up. She wasn't sure what had gotten into Jasper last night; he was quite restless.

If she hadn't passed out, she didn't know how wild he would have been. Thinking about this, Adeline rubbed her head and propped herself up to get out of bed.

As she reached out, she touched a man's arm. Adeline furrowed her brows, thinking it was Jasper.

However, when she shifted her gaze, her eyes widened in shock. The individual sleeping in her bed was not Jasper! It was Sebastian, clad only in his pajamas!

Adeline jerked her hand back as if burned, her voice laced with fear, "Sebastian, what are you doing here?"

Adeline's voice made Sebastian, still groggy, furrow his brows and slowly open his eyes.

When he saw Adeline messy and on the same bed, his face showed shock and confusion. Almost instinctively, Sebastian pulled the blanket over himself. "What happened?"

Adeline furrowed her brows. "Don't you know?"

"How could I know!" Sebastian rubbed his aching head. "Last night, many of my fans were gathered outside my house. I didn't dare to go home, so I found a hotel to stay in."

"But halfway through sleeping, the front desk called me, saying my fans had followed me to the hotel and I needed to escape from the back door."

"As soon as I ran out the back door, I was knocked out by someone."

After speaking, Sebastian looked around. "Where is this?"

Adeline narrowed her eyes, now calm. It was obvious that she and Sebastian had been set up.

Last night, Jasper had been drinking, but she hadn't touched a drop.

Adeline vividly remembered being with Jasper, being tossed around until three or four in the morning, and finally passing out.

And now, she was on the same bed with Sebastian, who was in his pajamas. The intentions of the other party were clear.

Taking a deep breath, she quickly calmed herself. "Sebastian, nothing happened between us last night."

Sebastian furrowed his brows, looking at Adeline's exposed skin with traces of kisses. "Really?"

"Of course." Adeline took a deep breath. "I can't explain it to you now."

"But you are an adult. You should understand what it means when a man and a woman who haven't done anything are placed on the same bed."

"Since no one is here yet, you should leave first."

Sebastian paused, nodding. "Alright." Even if something did happen between them, he couldn't stay here and ruin Adeline's reputation.

Thinking this, Sebastian quickly put on his shoes and got out of bed.

Adeline, with her back to him, heard Sebastian opening the door and let out a long sigh of relief.

"Mr. Carter, what are you doing here?" Suddenly, Jasper's cold voice came from outside the door.
