Chapter 548 That's Really a Pity

Adeline's words made both Jasper and Gary look up at her at the same time.

Gary's face twisted with anger as he glared at Adeline. "What proof do you have? Don't forget, you're still a mental patient. No one will take your word seriously! If your words count as evidence, then so do the words of everyone else in this hospital. Who else but you would say your fingers weren't self-inflicted?"

Gary was sure he had the hospital under his thumb and didn't think Adeline could come up with any solid evidence.

Adeline smirked coldly.

She walked over to Jasper, her eyes scanning the room until she spotted a megaphone on a nearby table, used to call patients for meals.

Adeline pulled out a tiny recorder hidden in her ear and hooked it up to the megaphone.

Then, the recording from the day her fingers were smashed played loud and clear.

The recording captured the caretaker's arrogant cursing, Adeline's gut-wrenching screams, and the sinister laughter of the man who broke her fingers. "The boss said, one finger a day. How many fingers she has left depends on how long Mr. Foster wants her to stay here."

The cruel and heartless conversations in the recording made Jasper freeze.

Adeline's fingers were indeed smashed with a hammer.

She had endured such pain, and he hadn't even known. He had believed the lies, thinking she had broken her fingers during a mental breakdown!

Listening to Adeline's cries in the recording, Jasper couldn't hold back any longer.

He stood up and kicked the kneeling Gary over.

Jasper glared at him, his eyes blazing with fury. "Where is that man? Speak up!"

Gary's face went pale as he looked at the enraged Jasper.

Jasper, consumed by anger, had lost his usual calm and collected demeanor. He grabbed Gary by the collar. "Tell me who that person is, and I might let you live!"

Gary trembled and stammered out a name.

Jasper's eyes turned icy cold at the mention of the name. He knew it well. It was the bodyguard he had assigned to Luna after sending her to a hotel a few days ago because of the incident with Lily.

Jasper closed his eyes, his fists clenching at his sides. He immediately turned and walked out.

Seeing Jasper leave, Gary hurriedly asked, "Mr. Foster, where are you going?"

"To find Luna," Jasper said coldly, pausing slightly. "I don't think your hospital should stay open."

Jasper called out, "Ryan!"

Ryan, who had been standing guard at the door, quickly stepped forward. "Yes!"

Jasper said, "Help me smash all five of Gary's fingers with a hammer. Since Gary could treat Adeline this way, he should also feel the same pain."

With that, Jasper walked away under Gary's shocked gaze.

Gary called out, "Mr. Foster!"

Seeing Jasper leave without looking back, Gary quickly turned his gaze to Adeline, who was still in the room. "Miss Wilson."

Adeline frowned, stepping around Gary's prone body with a hint of disgust. "I'm a mentally ill patient. Jasper won't listen to what I say."

With that, she turned and walked away.

Jasper and Adeline left the mental hospital one after the other.

On the way to find Luna, Adeline called Scott to inform him about Evelyn's situation in the mental hospital.

"It must be you!" Scott's voice on the other end of the line was extremely agitated. "If it weren't for you, why would Evelyn be in a mental hospital and refuse to come out? I diagnosed you as mentally ill, and you made her stay there! You are truly vicious!"

Listening to Scott's hysterical voice on the phone, Adeline found it amusing. "Vicious? If I'm vicious, then what about you, who deliberately killed Evelyn's ex-husband and daughter just to be with her again? What should you be called? Utterly vicious?"

Scott was rendered speechless by Adeline's words, his teeth grinding audibly. "Just you wait! When I get Evelyn out, I won't let you off!"

Adeline couldn't be bothered with his threats and hung up the phone.

Putting down her phone, Adeline rubbed her temples, feeling a bit of a headache.

She was somewhat worried.

With Scott in this state, could Evelyn really persuade him?

Soon, the car arrived at the hotel where Luna was staying.

As soon as the car pulled over, Luna walked out of the hotel. Behind her was the bodyguard who had smashed Adeline's fingers.

As she saw the man behind Luna, Adeline's body instinctively stiffened for a moment. She bit her lip, her right hand clenching into a fist at her side.

Perceiving Adeline's tension and unease, Jasper furrowed his brows. Just as he was about to comfort her, Luna strode over with her bodyguards in tow.

"Jasper!" Luna smiled and greeted Jasper through the car window.

Adeline frowned, almost instinctively lying flat on the back seat to avoid being seen by Luna and the bodyguard.

Jasper noticed all of Luna's actions. He frowned and lowered the car window indifferently.

"Jasper, I heard you went to Neon City to catch Adeline?" Luna leaned on the lowered car window, smiling. "How did it go? Did you catch her?"

Jasper squinted his eyes, curling his lips into a light smile. "No."

"No?" A flash of joy appeared in Luna's eyes.

But it was fleeting. The next second, Luna's eyes were filled with regret. "That's really a pity. I thought you could bring Adeline back this time to clear Blake and Lauren's names. After all, the day Blake and Lauren kidnapped Evelyn was right after they saw Adeline. If you could find Adeline, you could tell the media that it is Adeline who instigated the kids. Otherwise, the kids would have to bear the label of kidnappers from a young age, which would have a negative impact on them."

Jasper watched her performance coldly.

When Luna finished, Jasper curled his lips faintly, his eyes lightly glancing at Luna. "Haven't you already told the media that?"
