Chapter 559 She Doesn't Want to Face It!
Luna's knife got kicked by Jasper, flying a good fifteen feet away.
Hearing the knife hit the ground, Luna knew something was off.
As she was signing her name, she looked up to see Jasper's cold eyes just inches away.
In the next second, Jasper twisted her arm behind her back, pinning her.
Adeline froze for a moment, then quickly reacted.
She ran to the cliff's edge, hugged Blake, and carefully untied the ropes around him, bringing him down.
With only three ropes left, Blake had used up a lot of energy just to keep his balance and not fall off the cliff.
After Adeline rescued him, Blake collapsed into her arms, letting out a long sigh of relief. "Mommy, thank you."
Blake was too exhausted to walk on his own.
Adeline, knowing Blake's condition, held him tightly, her voice choked with emotion. "It's okay. Mommy can carry you; Mommy still can."
In the distance, Jasper had already pinned Luna to the ground.
"Jasper!" Luna's eyes were still on the half-signed agreement. She shouted hysterically, "You lied to me! You lied!"
Jasper had prepared this agreement not to protect her or take her home! It was just a trick to test her psychological defenses and control her when she signed it!
Luna yelled, "You are really despicable!"
"Likewise," Jasper sneered. "Luna, haven't you lied to me too?"
Luna lied about having a terminal illness and having less than a year to live. Jasper had believed it all. He thought a woman who would donate bone marrow to Blake for free wouldn't joke about her own life. But in reality, Jasper had overestimated her!
Jasper's words made Luna's body stiffen.
She bit her lip, saying nothing.
Adeline, holding Blake, turned to look at Jasper and Luna behind her.
Jasper frowned. "I can handle her. You take Blake down the mountain first."
Adeline glanced at Jasper's somewhat pale face. "Are you okay?"
Jasper nodded. He was almost out of energy.
He paid a visit to the mental hospital early in the morning, got doctors to evaluate Luna, and later went to Scott's accident scene. Jasper had been busy all day without a bite.
After learning that Luna had come after Blake, Jasper had rushed here with a convoy, carried Adeline through several miles of water, and climbed this steep mountain with her.
After more than ten hours of varying physical exertion without any replenishment, even a professional athlete would struggle. But Jasper knew that if Adeline didn't leave with Blake now and he couldn't control Luna later, she wouldn't stand a chance against Luna with a child who had no strength.
So Jasper forced himself to stay alert and looked at Adeline. "Go! Get Ryan and the others here."
Adeline paused, then quickly nodded.
Adeline had barely taken a few steps with Blake when a thunderclap lit up the sky, and she slipped, falling into a water pit with Blake.
"Adeline!" Jasper shouted, seeing them fall and not get up right away. "Are you okay?"
Adeline slowly climbed out of the water pit. "Yeah, we're fine."
She was just exhausted. She hadn't eaten anything for over ten hours either.
Adeline pulled the equally weak Blake out of the water pit, struggled to pick him up, and continued down the mountain.
The rain-soaked path was slippery, and she fell several times while carrying Blake. Each fall made Jasper's heart ache.
Luna, pinned beneath him, could also feel Jasper's emotional turmoil.
While Jasper was focused on Adeline, Luna used all her strength to break free. "I'll fight you to the death!"
Luna's hysterical voice came from behind.
Adeline paused and quickly turned around.
The scene before her made her mind go blank.
Luna was now holding the knife that Jasper had kicked away earlier, fighting desperately with him. She had cut Jasper's arm several times, his blood flowing freely. The once tall and strong Jasper was now covered in wounds; he was fighting hand-to-hand with the knife-wielding Luna!
Adeline bit her lip; she couldn't just stand by!
No matter how strong Jasper was, he couldn't come out unscathed against a sharp weapon!
Adeline bit her lip, placing Blake on the ground.
"Mommy, go." Blake looked at the scene in the distance, speaking seriously, "Daddy is like this because he was saving me. Be careful."
Adeline nodded, turning back the way she came.
At the mountaintop, the two were still entangled.
Luna screamed, "Jasper, you lied to me, didn't you?"
She slashed wildly at Jasper with the knife, sneering, "Then I'll take you down with me! Even if I can't take your son with me, I can drag you to hell! You'll never get rid of me, and you'll never be with Adeline!"
Though Jasper was almost out of energy, he could still subdue the frail Luna.
Just as Adeline arrived, Jasper had already twisted Luna's wrist. The knife fell to the ground again!
Luna bit her lip. She saw that she had lost her weapon, her strength was no match for Jasper's, and Adeline was back.
She couldn't fail; she couldn't! Jasper wouldn't protect her, let alone marry her.
If Luna was caught today, she would be extradited abroad to face the murders of Caroline and Lucas! She didn't want to face that! They died because of their own bad luck; she wouldn't take responsibility!
Thinking of this, Luna bit her lip hard, glancing at the cliff behind Jasper.
In their struggle, they had unknowingly moved to the edge of the cliff.
If they both took a step towards the cliff, Jasper would die with her, and they would never be separated!
A cold, gleeful smile flashed in Luna's eyes.
"Jasper." Luna looked up at his face, a wicked smile on her lips. "Let's go to hell together!"
With that, Luna used all her strength to charge at Jasper, and the two of them fell off the cliff together.
