Chapter 562 Don't You Know?

Adeline stared at Vikram, totally floored.

Vikram let out a big sigh, plopped down in the chair next to her, grabbed a banana from the cabinet, and sighed again.

"I heard about the Smith couple and Luna. They're gone. I rushed back from abroad yesterday and found you in a hospital bed."

He cleared his throat. "I thought you were in a coma, not just exhausted. So, yeah, I cried by your bedside."

Adeline was speechless. A six-foot-tall guy like Vikram, crying by her bedside? Unreal.

"I told you I wanted to marry you. I said if I had found out Luna was faking her illness sooner, things would be different. I shouldn't have told you about Luna faking it."

He went on, "And Jasper heard everything from the doorway. So, he beat me up."

He added, "He said if I had told him the truth earlier, he might have believed me. You both almost died."

Vikram rubbed the bruises on his face. "Jasper really didn't hold back."

He said, "I came back to see you guys before Caroline's trial and then go home to see my family. I messed up Caroline's case. I can't avoid a year or so of punishment."

He pulled out his phone, looked at his reflection in the camera, and sighed. "I can't go home like this. If I do, my parents will definitely come after Jasper."

Adeline pursed her lips, looking at his battered face, and sighed. "I feel for you."

She knew even if Vikram had told Jasper earlier, Jasper wouldn't have believed him.

Jasper was head over heels for Luna and hung on her every word. He couldn't believe Vikram.

Now, beating up Vikram and blaming him was just Jasper making excuses for himself.

Thinking about it, she felt embarrassed for being shy when Jasper looked at her so lovingly.

Even though Jasper had pulled a trick on the cliff to save her and Blake, it didn't mean he was a guy worth forgiving or loving.

Taking a deep breath, Adeline glanced at Vikram. "Since you can't go back, stay in Radiance Springs."

"My kids and I just escaped danger; we should celebrate. Stay with us and help me out."

Vikram was stunned but quickly nodded. "Okay!"

Adeline rested on the bed a bit longer. After making sure she was fine, she called Violet and Mia to plan a small gathering at Blue Bay that evening.

They still had a tough battle ahead with Molly.

After calling Violet and the others, Adeline also rang up Linda in Neon City to let her know she was safe.

Linda was over the moon. "I'm coming to the party! I'll have David send a car right away! I'll definitely be there tonight!"

Hearing Linda's excitement, Adeline couldn't say no.

"Alright, if you come, I'll whip up a few of your favorite dishes."

"It's a deal!"

After hanging up, Adeline checked the time. It was only ten in the morning, so she had several hours to get ready.

Adeline took a deep breath and looked at Vikram. "Let's get moving!"

Vikram followed her, watching her back.

Just yesterday, she was out cold like a vegetable. Now she was up and ready to party with friends.

Sometimes he really thought Adeline was the one who was nineteen.

After a quick lunch near the hospital, Adeline and Vikram headed to the supermarket.

She picked out the best ingredients in the city.

With his face all bruised from Jasper's beating, Vikram wore a hat and mask, carrying bags and trailing behind her.

By three in the afternoon, Jasper was slumped in his office chair.

He'd been swamped with family stuff, and work had piled up. After making sure Adeline was okay in the morning, he finally got around to handling the documents.

It took him until the afternoon. After wrapping up all the work, he couldn't stop thinking about Adeline. Several hours had passed; she should be feeling much better by now.

He wasn't sure if she kicked him out because she was shy or because she hated him.

Sighing, he pulled out his phone and called the hospital.

"How is she?"

The nurse on the other end paused for a moment.

"Mr. Foster, hasn't Adeline contacted you? She was discharged at ten this morning. Vikram handled the paperwork for her."

The nurse's words made Jasper frown deeply.

Just as he was about to find Vikram's number and call him, David's call came in.

"Jasper, we're in Radiance Springs. Linda said Adeline's phone is off. She asked me to check with you about the dinner party tonight."

David continued, "Should we wait at Blue Bay or come find you guys?"

Jasper's eyes narrowed. "What dinner party?"

"To celebrate Adeline and the kids' safety, Adeline invited all her friends. Don't you know?"
