Chapter 225 Linda's Trouble

Adeline slept through the night in a daze. In her dream, she was insulted by many men and left dead in the wilderness. She saw Jasper and Stella driving, running over her body, and happily returning to Dawn Vale. She woke up in terror from the dream.

"Nightmare?" Sebastian's gentle voice sounded as Adeline regained consciousness.

Adeline opened her eyes to a strange environment with white walls, a bed, and the smell of disinfectant. Rubbing her forehead, she asked, "Where am I?"

"The hospital," Sebastian replied calmly while pouring her a glass of warm water. "You were ambushed and kidnapped yesterday."

"You were rescued and brought to the hospital," he continued. "Do you remember anything?"

Adeline took the water, pondered for a moment, and said, "I have some recollection."

Last night after dropping off Linda at home, she fell asleep in the taxi.

Subconsciously, she lowered her head to check her body.

Sebastian gently held her arm, reassuring her, "You're fine. They just poured alcohol on you, but didn't harm you physically."

Adeline bit her lip. Last night, she was intoxicated. Despite the haze, she remembered some fragments.

"Did Jasper save me last night?" she asked.

Sebastian nodded. "Yes, it was him."

"But this isn't Dawn Vale. How could he confront the local gang?" she wondered.

"He sought the second largest gang," Sebastian chuckled. "He's a businessman, very clever.

"After confirming you were captured by Gabriel, he went straight to David, claiming he could help David catch Gabriel."

Sebastian sighed, "Jasper's tactics are indeed clever.

"On one hand, with David capturing Gabriel, the top gang loses its leader, and he can take over. On the other hand, the Evelyn's family owes a debt to Gabriel, relying on him to dominate.

"Now that Gabriel is down, the Evelyn's family has lost its support. Even without Jasper targeting them, they will decline gradually.

"In the end, David benefits from this. He owes Jasper a big favor, making him fearless of future encounters."

Sebastian marveled, "Jasper truly hits three birds with one stone."

"I almost suspect he planned it all out. Otherwise, his adaptability is too terrifying," he added.

Adeline closed her eyes. "Perhaps it was all part of his plan?"

Sebastian shrugged. "I doubt it. I was just speculating..."

Adeline, with a distant look, mentioned, "During the recent investigation, Jasper had a document outlining the acquisition plan for the jewelry brand under the Evelyn's family.

"I was wondering how the Evelyn's family's jewelry brand, thriving as it is, could be easily sold.

"But after last night's events, with the Evelyn's family's decline looming..."

She gazed at Sebastian, "Do you think, without Gabriel's protection, the Evelyn's family might sell the jewelry brand?"

Sebastian fell silent. He had merely speculated, how could he have guessed the Foster Group's business secrets?

Taking a deep breath, Sebastian said, "Jasper is a businessman. It's normal for you to think that way.

"But I don't believe he would do that.

"By doing so, he would make you a target.

"If something went wrong, your life might truly be in Gabriel's hands."
Adeline chuckled self-deprecatingly, "Even if I fell into Gabriel's hands, he wouldn't care."

Sebastian fell silent for a moment.

"I think Jasper may not be as indifferent to you as you imagine."

At least, when he saw Jasper and Stella vying to take care of Adeline yesterday, his concern seemed genuine.

"You don't understand him."

Adeline turned her head to look out the window, her voice indifferent. "He has never cared about my life or death."

Before breakfast, Sebastian took Adeline to the doctor for a thorough check-up. Once confirmed she was fine, he had breakfast with her and then sent her back to the hotel.

As they arrived at the hotel, they ran into Ryan.

"Adeline, I was just about to find you." Ryan smiled. "Jasper said things here are settled. Pack your bags and we'll leave for Dawn Vale at ten."

Adeline nodded, turned, and went into the room to pack.

Outside, Sebastian joked with Ryan, "Can I tag along? I'm heading back to Dawn Vale too."

Ryan's response was clearly displeased, "No!"

Adeline chuckled as she packed, feeling a sense of amusement.

After everything was packed, she felt like something was missing, but couldn't quite remember what it was.

"Could it be a souvenir from your friend?" Sebastian leaned against the door, arms crossed.
Adeline slapped her forehead, realizing she couldn't find the love letter Linda had given her

She opened all her luggage again, searched, but it was nowhere to be found.

It wasn't until Ryan urged her to get in the car that she remembered the letter.

It seemed like it was burned when Gabriel kidnapped her yesterday?

With a sigh, she boarded the return car full of regret.

Due to the events of last night, Jasper made sure Adeline sat in the front passenger seat on the return journey. He and Stella sat in the back.

As the car door closed, Stella complained, "There's another car available. Why do we have to squeeze together?"

"The driver of the luggage car behind us is also ours. He won't run off with Adeline," Jasper replied calmly.

Adeline sat in the front seat, calling Linda but to no avail.

She tried again, still no response.

She glanced at the time; it was already past noon.

Would Linda, even if hungover, still not be awake at this hour?

She dialed Zavier's number to inquire about Linda's condition.

However, the call was abruptly disconnected.

Adeline furrowed her brows, puzzled.

However, she dismissed it, attributing it to signal interference.

Taking a deep breath, she leaned back in the front seat, feeling drowsy.

As the car headed onto the highway toward Dawn Vale, Jasper's phone rang.

His expression darkened as he answered, and after a while, he hung up, his voice cold and serious, "Linda is in trouble."
