Chapter 688 My Plan Has Not Failed Yet

The messages on Alice's phone were all from Brandon.

[How far has she gotten with Jasper? I need updates.]

[Find a way to force her back.]

[Have you gained Jasper's trust? Why haven't you responded?]

[If necessary, proceed with Plan S.]

Reading these messages, Adeline felt like an invisible hand was squeezing her heart painfully.

It was clear that this phone was specifically used by Alice to communicate with Brandon.

The messages dated back to when Alice first arrived in Radiance Springs, and they had been consistent every day.

At first, when Adeline opened these messages, she thought Brandon was just trying to keep tabs on her situation.

But later Brandon's requests for information became more frequent and detailed.

Every detail was meticulously recorded: from updates about her work hours and meetings with Jasper, to the time spent with the kids and Jasper, and even the moments she entered Jasper's room for Blake, how long she stayed, what time she left in the morning, and her condition when she left. Brandon had Alice monitoring her every move.

There were times when even Alice felt it was too much and resisted. But Brandon would always bring up Alice's brother, who was still being taken care of by the Torres family.

So, Alice had no choice but to comply and report every detail of Adeline's situation.

However, the last message Alice sent to Brandon was half a month ago.

In that message, Alice mentioned the Phoebe family.

[Mr. Torres, the incident with Lily's poisoning is related to the Phoebe family. You have a good relationship with them, so you could help. Why...]

Brandon's reply was calm: [I only care about Adeline. The Foster family is none of my concern.]

Reading this message, Adeline felt a strange discomfort.

It wasn't because Brandon refused to help the Foster family.

But what bothered Adeline was that Brandon didn't deny having a good relationship with the Phoebe family, which meant it was true.

For the past six years, Adeline had been close to Brandon, her best friend.

Yet, she had never heard of the Phoebe family or any mention of them.

However, Alice, the girl she had saved and who now worked for the Torres family, could effortlessly obtain information about the Phoebe family.

In conversations with Alice, Brandon had hinted that there was a reason he saved Adeline and her children.

Adeline felt a chill down her spine. She suddenly realized how little she knew about Brandon.

Noticing Adeline's unease, Mia frowned and approached her. "What's wrong?"

Adeline quickly put her phone away and shook her head. "Nothing."

Maybe she was overthinking it. Brandon probably just said it casually.

He saved her by coincidence, not for any specific reason.

Besides, Brandon had gone to great lengths to help her with treatment and surgery, even defying his grandmother for her.

How could she doubt him?

As for the Phoebe family, it might just be a coincidence that Brandon never mentioned them to her.

She shouldn't doubt her savior, nor should she think he had ulterior motives for having Alice monitor her.

Maybe he was just overly concerned about her.

With that thought, Adeline took a deep breath and asked Mia to take her home.

On the way back to Emerald Crest Estate, Adeline, trying to distract herself from overthinking, pulled out her phone and opened the news from Radiance Springs.

The first news report she saw was the blazing fire at Blue Bay from the previous night.

Following the fire were photos of Molly and Alice.

The news anchor's professional tone filled the air.

"Reports indicate that the culprit behind this fire was Jasper's ex-fiancée, Molly. Unable to bear Jasper being with another woman after their breakup, she set the fire. Fortunately, aside from an employee named Alice, there were no casualties at Blue Bay."

Adeline's eyes welled up with tears as she looked at Alice's photo on the screen.

If it weren't for Alice, she couldn't imagine what the Foster family would be like now.

Alice always said Adeline saved her life, and she wanted to repay her.

But Adeline never expected anything in return; she just wanted Alice to live well.

Adeline muttered to herself, "Not repaying her, what does she want to do?"

Across the ocean, at the Torres family Mansion.

Fiona Torres, with her sharp features and cold eyes, smashed a cup on the ground.

The shards scattered, some embedding in the legs of the man standing before her.

Blood oozed out, but the man remained indifferent, still standing there.

"She will come back. I know her."

"You know her?" Fiona sneered, her icy gaze sweeping over Brandon's face. "You promised me that once she saved the child, she would return! And now? The child is saved, but where is she? Now even the person you placed by her side is dead. How can you guarantee she will come back?"

Seeing Fiona's anger, Randy Torres quickly stepped forward to calm her down.

"Grandma, don't get upset. It's bad for your health."

Fiona glared coldly at Brandon. "If I had known you were so soft-hearted, I wouldn't have sent you to Radiance Springs to find her! She was supposed to be our best tool to control the Phoebe family!"

Fiona's anger grew, and she smashed another cup on the ground.

"You told me that after her surgery, the Phoebe family wouldn't recognize her, and she would be a perfect pawn... And now? Now she's with Jasper! Is this your grand plan to elevate the Torres family? Or is it your plan to help the Phoebe family and the Foster family resolve their issues and unite against us?"

This time, the cup hit Brandon's face, turning his head to the side.

But he remained still, his expression calm and unchanging.

"Grandma, please be patient. My plan hasn't failed. I assure you Adeline will come back to me."
