Chapter 450 I Made This Coffee Especially for You

Adeline's words left Vikram totally speechless for a sec.

"Anyway, thanks for today," Adeline said. "But if this happens again, don't bother saving me. I really can't standbeing kissed in public."

Then she just walked into her office and shut the door behind her.

Vikram stood there, kinda stunned, then let out a helpless sigh.

Yeah, he had been a bit impulsive. Seeing her all strong and stoic made his heart ache and worry at the same time. So, without thinking, he rushed up and kissed her in public. Now that he had cooled down, he realized how out of line that was.

Vikram hesitated for a bit, but eventually, he pushed open Adeline's office door. "I wanna apologize."

Adeline, with her head down, sketching drafts, said, "No need to apologize, you were just trying to help."

Her words made Vikram feel even more embarrassed. He sighed deeply. "I know I messed up.. But I genuinely care about you. If you ever need anything, just hit me up. I'll do my best to help ."

Adeline's hand, holding the pencil, paused slightly. After a moment, she looked up. "I do have a question I need your help with."

Hearing this, Vikram immediately perked up. "What is it?"

Adeline said, "Since you knew Luna before, you should know about her past condition. Do you know what illness she had?"

Adeline had been wanting to ask this for a long time.

What kind of illness made Luna so frail that any slight emotional disturbance would land her in the hospital? Even after surgery, she still looked like she could faint at any moment. Robert and Timothy had looked into it but found nothing conclusive.

Probably not expecting Adeline to ask this out of the blue, Vikram was silent for a while, then gave an awkward smile. "I don't know."

Adeline shrugged. "Then I have no more questions."

Although she and Vikram were friends, they weren't super close; she had no reason to expect him to always be truthful with her.

Standing at the door, Vikram watched her working with her head down. Just as he was about to say something, the office door swung open.

It was Anne, who had just helped Amelia and sent her off.

Adeline asked, "You sent Amelia away?"

Seeing her enter, Vikram couldn't help but sneer, "You knew Amelia was giving Adeline a hard time, yet as Adeline's assistant, you still took the initiative to escort her away. You're really too kind!"

Anne's face turned pale from his sarcasm.

She bit her lip. "Amelia used to be nice and helped me many times. I just wanted to repay her kindness; I don't betray Adeline."

Seeing Anne's aggrieved look, Adeline frowned and spoke up, "You did nothing wrong, no need to explain."

Vikram shrugged, thinking Anne probably had something to say to Adeline, so he simply said goodbye and left.

After Vikram left, Anne carefully closed the office door, walked over to Adeline, and lowered her voice. "Adeline, Amelia told me a secret before she left."

Adeline looked up. "What is it?"

Anne took a deep breath. "Amelia said Ms. Jones wants to sabotage your design competition. Ms. Jones told Amelia that as long as she got into your team, she could achieve her goal."

"So," Anne bit her lip. "Please be super careful and make sure your design plans are always safe."

Adeline frowned. "I understand."

She had considered the possibility that Luna might try to sabotage her in the competition. However, she later thought Luna wouldn't do it.

Not because Adeline thought Luna was a good person, but because this time, her team was repping the Foster Group in the competition.

If things went south, it wouldn't just be her taking the hit; the Foster Group would feel it too.

As Jasper's girlfriend, Luna shouldn't make such a rookie mistake. But since Amelia had spilled the beans to Anne, Adeline had to stay on her toes.

After Amelia's heads-up, Adeline got super cautious prepping for the competition.

She even teamed up with Blake and Lauren to set up a system where team members kept their tasks and responsibilities on the down-low from each other.

Luna got stuck with the most basic design tasks.

At first, Luna probably thought she had all the time in the world and didn't rush.

But as time ticked by, she started to realize Adeline was icing her out. She'd been working with the team for over half a month and still had no clue what their competition entry looked like. She was totally cut off from the core, couldn't even sneak a peek at the design drafts.

With less than three days left before the big presentation, Luna started to freak out.

That day, while Adeline and the crew went out for lunch, Luna made a cup of coffee, pretending it was for Adeline, and slipped into her office.

The place was loaded with surveillance gear. Seeing the cameras blinking, Luna frowned a bit.

Adeline was definitely onto her. But if she didn't act now, Adeline would waltz into the competition without a scratch.

Luna knew this competition was Jasper's way of making Adeline shine, ensuring she'd be the star of the show.

Since this whole thing was set up for Adeline by Jasper, Luna had to find a way to stop her from competing!

With that in mind, she took a deep breath and sent a quick text: [Cut the power.]

In a flash, the lights went out, and all the equipment shut down.

Luna smirked. What good was all this surveillance if the power was out? It was all just for show now!

Feeling smug, Luna stepped closer to Adeline's competition design drafts, coffee in hand.

Suddenly, Adeline's cold voice cut through the silence from the doorway. "Ms. Jones, what are you doing?"

Luna froze, instinctively turning around.

Adeline stood there, arms crossed, eyes icy, with a cold smile on her lips. "Skipping lunch to snoop around my office, huh?"

As she finished, the lights flickered back on, and all the equipment whirred to life.

A flash of panic crossed Luna's face, but she quickly played it cool.

Luna smiled at Adeline, placing the coffee on her desk. "Ms. Wilson, you've been so swamped with work, I thought I'd surprise you with some coffee."

Luna then turned and smiled at Adeline. "Why'd you come back so soon?"

Adeline sneered. "If I hadn't come back early, were you planning to mess with my design drafts?" She stepped into the office. "Since you brought the coffee, now that it's here, why don't you leave? And if I want coffee, my assistant Anne will make it for me. No need for you to trouble yourself."

Adeline's words made Luna narrow her eyes. Adeline's guard was up, big time.

Suddenly, a cunning look flashed in Luna's eyes. She picked up the cup of coffee and brought it to Adeline. "Ms. Wilson, I made this coffee especially for you. Would you like to try it?"
