Chapter 16 The Reason for Imitation
Not long after the nurse left, Molly was brought into Violet's office with the help of someone.
"Be careful when suturing, don't leave any scars on me!" After giving this cold order, Molly leaned back in the chair, took out her phone, and started watching videos.
Although Violet disliked her behavior. She was a doctor and was accustomed to a level of respect.
She lowered her head and began stitching up Molly with full concentration.
Just as Violet squatted down to prepare for the suturing, and Molly was engrossed in watching dramas, Bennett accidentally fell onto Violet, knocking her over.
His little finger happened to touch Molly's wound.
Seizing the opportunity, he smeared the salt from his finger onto the wound.
"Ah!" Molly instantly twisted her face in pain, almost jumping off the chair!
Violet was taken aback.
"I'm sorry!" Bennett quickly apologized with a sincere tone, bowing his head. "Pretty lady, I didn't mean to, I just... accidentally fell..."
Molly's features twisted with pain as she glared fiercely at Bennett, "That's all you have to say, just an 'accident'?"
"I truly didn't mean it," Bennett pursed his lips, looking at Molly with his pitifully big eyes. "Pretty lady, if you're really angry... then, why don't you fall too, but on me?"
Molly's eyes widened with anger.
As an adult, was she supposed to fall on this child!
"I'm sorry, this is my friend's child. Kids tend to be mischievous," Violet apologized in a low voice, disinfecting Molly's wound with alcohol. "It might sting a bit, just bear with it."
After saying that, the office instantly filled with Molly's intensified screams.
Violet finished disinfecting and began stitching up Molly's wound.
Molly still kept her head down, watching a drama.
Just at the crucial moment, her phone suddenly notified her that the Wi-Fi password was incorrect.
Molly frowned, "What's going on?"
Bennett cautiously approached her, "Pretty lady, let me handle it. Consider it an apology for what happened earlier."
Molly scrutinized him, thinking that this little guy shouldn't be lying, and handed him her phone.
Bennett took Molly's phone and quickly logged into her account with his spare phone, synchronizing all her messages.
After doing all that, he deleted the verification messages on Molly's phone and also connected her to the Wi-Fi whose password he had just changed.
Bennett's movements were swift, and with his young age, Molly had no defenses.
She took the phone he handed over, proudly curling her lips, "Alright, I forgive you!"
Bennett also looked at her, his eyes and brows curved with a smile, "You're really kind!"
Bennett managed to cheer Molly up, and she happily left.
Once she was gone, Violet quickly closed the door and cornered Bennett against the wall, demanding, "Why are you rubbing salt on her wounds? And what about last time at the restaurant, she couldn't leave the bathroom because of you, right? Do you have a grudge against her?"
Bennett shifted to a more comfortable position, leaning against the small bed.
"Why don't you take a guess?"
...
At night.
After soothing Lauren to sleep, Adeline secretly made a call to Bennett.
Bennett's voice on the other end was leisurely. "Okay, I know you're taking care of sister, so I didn't bother you. I'm doing fine at Aunt's place."
"You and Lauren..."
He remembered.
Previously, in Molly's phone, there was a conversation between her and her best friend.
The little one sighed and said, "Be careful over there. That mistress is not a good person."
Although he could already monitor the contents of Molly's phone clearly, she wouldn't treat her phone as everything. He couldn't control every single thing either.
"I know," Adeline sighed, "Stay obediently at Auntie's place, don't cause any trouble for her, understood?"
"Understood, I'm not a child anymore," Bennett rolled his eyes, "The nurses at Auntie's hospital all like me, so don't worry about me."
Adeline couldn't help but smile helplessly at his mature tone. After chatting a bit more, she hung up the phone and returned to the villa.
On the coffee table in the living room, there were pieces of Molly's torn wedding photos from earlier in the day.
The woman furrowed her brows and almost instinctively sat down on the couch, carefully piecing together those fragments.
Although she didn't want to admit it, they were indeed her once happiest memories, unfortunately.
"What are you doing?"
Just as Adeline was about to piece together one of the photos, a man's cold and indifferent voice sounded from the staircase.
She abruptly pulled back her hand and looked towards the direction of the voice.
Jasper was leaning coldly against the staircase, his dark eyes coldly fixed on her hand.
She quickly lowered her head, assuming an apologetic expression. "I'm sorry, I saw these fragments on the coffee table and guessed that you wanted to piece the photos together, so..."
The man furrowed his brows, walked up to her in large strides, and snatched the photo fragments from her hand. He reprimanded, "Don't touch my things in the future."
After speaking, he carefully placed the fragments on the table. "Don't think you can please me by doing this."
Adeline narrowed her eyes slightly and apologized, but there was a smugness at the corner of her lips.
She just wanted Jasper to think that she had ulterior motives towards him.
That way, he wouldn't suspect her true identity.
"Well, Mr. Foster, I'll go back now." After speaking, she turned around and prepared to go upstairs.
"What about Lauren?" Jasper sat down on the couch, elegantly reclining his body, "Is she okay today?"
The little girl asked him to display his and Adeline's wedding photos yesterday, and they were destroyed by Molly today. She must be sad.
"She's fine," Adeline had her back turned to Jasper, her lips slightly curled, "Mr. Foster dotes on his daughter so much."
The man furrowed his brows slightly, watching her back, waiting for her to continue.
She lightly smiled and said, "Previously, I noticed there wasn't a single photo of your ex-wife in the house, and suddenly so many were displayed. It must be because of Lauren, right?"
The woman's words made Jasper narrow his eyes slightly.
He coldly stared at her back and said, "It seems like you're very interested in me and my wife's affairs?"
"Of course," Adeline smiled. "The purpose of my visit here is to win the favor of Mr. Foster and naturally, I am curious about Mr. Foster's personal life."
Jasper snorted coldly. Just as he suspected! This woman came here as a maid because she had ulterior motives towards him.
He cast a cold glance at Adeline and said, "Remember, you're just a servant. Don't say or do anything you shouldn't. The position I have by my side is not easily replaceable."
