Chapter 736 I Am Called Adeline
Adeline's words made Oliver gasp.
He struggled to keep his anger in check, trying not to snap at Adeline. "The Phoebe family didn't just jump to conclusions about their biological daughter! It's not just the DNA. We looked into the orphanage that mixed you up with Daisy, and even your adoptive parents! All the evidence points to Molly being the Phoebe family's daughter. And when Molly came back to the Phoebe family, they had already been searching for you for a year. We were thrilled at the time. Who would've thought she was a fake?"
Oliver gave Adeline a hard look. "You know better than anyone what your relationship with Molly was like. Do you really think she couldn't have gotten your hair or nails to switch the test samples?"
Adeline was taken aback. She had just been angrily questioning him.
But after thinking it over, she realized he had a point.
Back then, it was Molly who told her about Daniel and Helen's daughter being switched with a wealthy family's child.
Molly clearly knew more about the truth from back then.
So, Molly might have already prepared all her DNA samples, waiting for the Phoebe family to check.
Moreover, Molly had Daisy helping her from the inside.
It wasn't impossible for the Phoebe family to believe Molly.
She turned to Oliver. "If the evidence is so clear that Molly is the Phoebe family's daughter, how do you know I'm the real one and she's the fake?"
Oliver closed his eyes and gave a bitter smile. "You'll understand when you see her. Mom, she's a good person."
Adeline remained seated, unmoved.
She couldn't believe that someone who made poisons and lived with them all her life could be a kind-hearted person!
Seeing she still refused to go upstairs, Oliver sighed. "Adeline, I really don't want to use force. If it weren't for Mom's current condition, I wouldn't have brought you here. I've known your identity for a while, but haven't I been helping you and Jasper all this time."
Oliver's words made Adeline raise an eyebrow. "Speaking of which, I've always wondered why you're willing to help Jasper? Aren't the Phoebe family and him sworn enemies?"
Oliver gave a bitter smile and took out a jade ring from his pocket.
"I heard you went to Lucky Restaurant that day to find the jade ring you lost at the Torres Mansion, right?"
He placed the jade ring in Adeline's hand. "Look at mine."
Adeline's eyes widened instantly.
This jade ring was completely different from the fake one Brandon made!
The patterns, the design; it was exactly like the one Leo had given her!
She remembered Leo's words. "This ring, Esther's son has one too."
Adeline stared at Oliver in shock. "You..."
"I'm Esther and Howard's son. You're my half-sister, and Jasper is my cousin. As your family, I naturally hope you both have a good outcome."
Oliver looked deeply at Adeline. "I know you don't want to go upstairs to see Mom because you don't want to end things with Jasper. But Adeline, Mom doesn't have much time left. As your brother, I'm not Zara's biological son either, but I know how good she's been to me all these years. You shouldn't doubt your biological mother's character. Come upstairs with me."
Oliver's words made Adeline's heart clench tightly.
She bit her lip hard, her eyes filled with sadness and despair.
Actually, she didn't completely doubt Oliver when he said she was the Phoebe family's daughter.
After all, Helen and Daniel's attitude towards her; it didn't really seem like they were treating their biological daughter.
But she didn't want to accept this outcome.
Jasper, despite being arrogant, not valuing her enough, and lying to protect his own pride, was still the man she had loved for so many years.
She understood his feelings for her and knew how much he hated the Phoebe family.
If she really returned to the Phoebe family and became their daughter, what would happen to their relationship, their marriage?
And would their child be caught in the same difficult situation like Oliver?
Their child would be caught in their conflict, not knowing which side to support, and thus feeling troubled.
She didn't want to choose, she just wanted to avoid it.
But Oliver wasn't giving her a chance to escape. The car was silent for a long time.
Finally, Oliver's phone rang. It was Dennis.
"Oliver, Mrs. Phoebe has woken up. She said you told her you were bringing her biological daughter. She's holding on just to see her. If you don't bring Adeline up, she might not wake up again if she passes out."
The car was small.
Adeline heard Dennis's words clearly.
She bit her lip hard, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.
Oliver looked at her again. "Alright, Adeline. I'll give you a choice. Tonight, just go up and see Mom. If you still choose Jasper and don't want to return to the Phoebe family. I promise, no one from the Phoebe family will trouble you, and we'll let you go."
Adeline closed her eyes and was silent for a long time before finally giving a bitter smile. "Okay."
Oliver had said so much, if she didn't go up to see her mother, it would be too heartless.
So, Adeline opened the car door and followed Oliver upstairs.
The hospital was heavily guarded.
Adeline followed Oliver through layers of security and finally entered Zara's room.
As soon as she walked in, the strong smell of medicine made Adeline frown.
On the bed, a middle-aged woman with a pale face was leaning against the headboard, lifting her head at the sound of the door opening.
The moment the woman lifted her head, Adeline looked at her face and covered her mouth in disbelief.
This face was exactly like hers before she had any cosmetic surgery!
She looked at the older version of herself, opened her mouth to say something, but no words came out.
"Mom, this is Adeline." Oliver walked over and spoke softly.
Zara stared at Adeline, tears streaming down her face.
"You... come here..."
Adeline bit her lip, and for some reason, tears started falling uncontrollably.
She slowly walked over and took the woman's hand. "Hello, my name is Adeline..."
A loud screech of brakes sounded, and a black Maserati stopped at the hospital entrance.
Jasper got out of the car and rushed into the hospital.
"Oliver!"
