Chapter 529 I Don't Want Daddy Anymore!
Adeline bit her lip, quickly dropped to the floor, and pressed the paper ball under her. She turned her head and flashed a sweet smile at the nurse. "Fun, that's fun!"
She twisted her body like she was really losing it and gave the nurse another smile.
The nurse, clearly used to patients acting up late at night, just frowned a bit and shut the door. "Get some sleep!"
As the nurse's footsteps faded, Adeline let out a long sigh of relief and wiped the sweat from her forehead. Finally, she pulled out the paper ball from under her.
She opened it up and read: [Hang in there. I'm trying to contact your friends to rescue you. I'll also figure something out. Here's a communicator I made. If it works, contact me anytime. Liam.]
Seeing the note, Adeline couldn't hold back her tears.
It was Bennett! Her Bennett! He had come to find her, to save her!
Adeline hugged the paper ball and cried her heart out.
Bennett still cared about her. Even if he had lost his memory, he still believed she wasn't really sick and was trying to rescue her.
After crying for a bit, Adeline opened the small communicator hidden in the paper ball and put it in her ear. All she heard was static.
She closed her eyes and sighed. There must be signal jammers in the mental hospital.
Before losing his memory, every time Bennett tried to make a communicator like Blake, he couldn't get past the signal jammers. Even now, the stuff Bennett made was still as ineffective as before.
Adeline turned off the communicator, sat on the ground, hugged the blanket, and looked at the moonlight outside the window.
The moonlight was cool and soothing. Under such moonlight, she wondered what Bennett, Blake, and Lauren were doing right now.
Outside the mental hospital.
Bennett sat in the passenger seat, annoyed. He took off the communicator that wasn't picking up any signal and tossed it onto the seat. "Why doesn't it work? Sebastian, didn't you say this was much better than before? Why can't I hear anything?"
Sebastian, sitting in the driver's seat, quickly lowered his head. "I said it looked much better."
Sebastian now seemed like a not-so-bright, slow-witted driver and bodyguard. Even before, he was just an artist who could only draw! How would he know how to make a communicator that could bypass signal jammers?
Bennett sighed and pulled out his laptop. "Something's still not right. I need to ask Blake."
Hearing him mention "Blake," Sebastian frowned and looked at him through the rearview mirror. "Who are you talking about?"
Bennett said, "An online friend named Blake."
He kept typing on the laptop without looking up. "Last time, I embedded a virus in a video. This Blake tried to crack the video and became my friend. He's really good at this. I'll ask him."
Bennett typed away, sending a message to the account named "Silent."
[Blake, Blake, help!]
[Why can't the communicator you taught me to make bypass the signal jammers!]
After sending two messages, there was no response.
In Emerald Crest Estate, Blake's computer kept pinging with notifications.
But Blake wasn't about to check them.
Right now, Blake and Lauren were staging a protest against Jasper by refusing to eat or drink.
All day, they couldn't get in touch with Adeline.
At first, they thought she was just sleeping in, so they didn't worry.
But later, no matter how many times they called, they couldn't reach her, and eventually, her phone was turned off.
Then Blake contacted Violet.
When Violet and Ethan got to Blue Bay, they didn't see Adeline. Instead, they saw Jasper and Luna coming out of the villa, followed by an elderly man with gray hair and gold-rimmed glasses.
After that, no one could contact Adeline.
Blake and Lauren used all their connections to find her but came up empty.
Lauren was crying, while Blake was sure their mom's disappearance had something to do with Jasper and Luna.
So, they decided to protest by not eating or drinking, demanding Jasper reveal where Adeline was!
Lily brought desserts and tried to feed Blake and Lauren, but neither of them took a bite.
Especially Lauren, who usually loved sweets, now clenched her teeth tightly. Even when Lily put a cream cake to her lips, Lauren turned her head away and refused to eat.
Lily snapped, "Jasper, why on earth did you hide Adeline?"
Seeing the two kids being so stubborn, Lily threw the desserts on the dining table and turned to Jasper, fuming. "You know better than anyone how important she is to Blake and Lauren! Why did you hide Adeline?"
Jasper frowned, glanced at the stubborn Blake, then at the pouting Lauren, and finally sighed deeply.
He walked over and gently picked Lauren up. "Lauren, your mommy is sick. Daddy just sent her to get treatment. Not telling you where she is, is to prevent you from disturbing her treatment."
Before Lauren could speak, Blake snorted. "What illness could our mommy have? She's perfectly healthy and was planning to take me and Lauren abroad to find Brandon."
Hearing Blake mention Brandon, Jasper's brows furrowed deeply.
Jasper gave Blake a cold look. "Didn't you say your mom has a mental illness and often abuses you?"
Blake fearlessly met Jasper's gaze. "I never said that!"
Jasper clearly didn't believe him.
He squinted his eyes. "You've really been corrupted by Adeline. At such a young age, you can deny your own words."
Blake glared at him angrily. "I mean it!"
After saying that, he plopped down on the sofa. "Jasper, if you insist on not telling me where my mommy is, I can find her myself! I don't believe that if I check all the city's surveillance, I won't see where she went!"
"But," he looked up, his eyes coldly fixed on Jasper, "if I find out that my mommy got hurt or suffered any grievance while we couldn't find her, Lauren and I will no longer consider you our dad!"
After Blake said this, the entire villa fell silent.
Jasper looked at the six-year-old Blake, whose eyes were sharp and serious. Just as he was about to say something, Lauren broke free from his arms.
Lauren ran to Blake and quickly grabbed his hand. "I'm with Blake. If mommy gets hurt, I won't want Daddy anymore!"
