Chapter 271 Dad Wants to Talk to You

Lauren discreetly rolled her eyes. It was Adeline, her real mom!

"Lauren's got a great relationship with her mom, too," Bennett chuckled before the little girl could say anything. "Nothing beats blood ties."

Bennett glanced at Jasper. "Mr. Foster, don't you think since Stella loves us so much, she'd let us go to the training camp?"

"All parents desire success for their children. Once Lauren and I achieve great success, Stella won't need to envy Adeline any longer." Bennett said thoughtfully.

Jasper narrowed his eyes and looked at Bennett, whose cute smile was hard to resist.

Jasper sighed. Even though he wanted Bennett and Lauren to spend more time with family, Stella's current condition wasn't ideal. A little distance might help.

The family of four finished breakfast, each lost in their thoughts.

After breakfast, Jasper coaxed Lauren and Bennett into the car, heading back to Blue Bay.

As the car drove away, Adeline's smile faded. She turned to Jasper. "Keep your promise and let Lauren and Bennett go to the training camp."

She turned and walked toward the road. Jasper grabbed her wrist. "Where are you going?"

Adeline frowned, not even turning her head. "Company."

Jasper's voice was calm. "Get in the car." Adeline shook off his hand. "I'd rather take a taxi." She walked briskly to the main road and hopped into a taxi.

Only when Adeline's car disappeared did Jasper furrow his brow and get into his car.

"Mr. Foster," Ryan, sitting in the driver's seat, sighed. "Why is Adeline doing this to herself?"

"She told me once that Bennett and Lauren have been with her since birth."

"If they go so far away, she must be more upset than you and Mrs. Foster."

Jasper snorted but stayed silent. Whose fault was it? If Adeline weren't always suspicious, thinking Stella would threaten the kids' safety, they wouldn't have to take such drastic measures.

Ryan sighed. "Adeline's been working hard for the company."

"She just reunited with Bennett and Lauren two days ago, and now they have to leave again."

"I wonder what she's thinking."

Jasper closed his eyes. Ryan had a point. As an employee, Adeline was outstanding.

Jasper had promised her that if she did her job well, he'd give her a day off to spend with Lauren and Bennett.

Now it seemed...

Suddenly, Jasper opened his eyes. "Does the company have an amusement park opening tomorrow?"

Ryan was taken aback and quickly checked his phone. "Yes."

"Delay the opening by a day. I need it tomorrow," Jasper said.

He would keep his word.

As soon as Adeline walked into the design department, someone stopped her.

The person blocking her was none other than Daniel, who had just been released from the police station last night.

In just one day, he looked much more worn than when Adeline last saw him. "Miss Wilson, I need to talk to you," he said.

Adeline furrowed her brow, bypassed him, and entered the office. "I have nothing to say to you."

Daniel hurriedly caught up, blocking her path again. In a voice only they could hear, he said, "Honey, Dad wants to talk to you."

At the mention of "Honey," her body froze, her breath stopped, and her blood ran cold.

Adeline raised her head, suppressing the doubts and shock in her heart, and looked at Daniel with a cold gaze. "Mr. Collins, what are you talking about?"

Just a day ago, when she saw Daniel at the police station, his attitude suggested he wanted to finish her off. How could he become such a different man today? Was he calling himself her dad? What was he up to?

"Honey," Daniel furrowed his brow, lowered his voice, and leaned in. "Why are you still calling me Mr. Collins? I'm your dad! I know everything."

He then lowered his voice even more, unable to help but chuckle. "Honey, you should have told me earlier; I would have taken you in long ago. Why make things so awkward between us? You are my daughter."

"I've reserved a spot at the cafe downstairs. Let's have a good chat between father and daughter?"

Adeline stepped back, her voice icy. "Mr. Collins, have you lost your mind after a few days in jail?"

Although she didn't know what Daniel was up to, she understood Daniel and Helen very well—they couldn't keep secrets. If they found out who she was, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Moreover, even if Daniel did find out her identity, how did he do that? First, Daniel couldn't uncover things that even Jasper couldn't. Second, Stella wouldn't tell them the truth. If Stella did tell them, it would be like handing over her biggest weakness to Daniel.

All along, Stella had only been using the Collins family, and she wouldn't do something so foolish. Therefore, Adeline had reason to believe that Daniel was deliberately testing her or simply trying to disgust her.

Seeing that Adeline wasn't listening to him at all, Daniel could only smirk and lean in. "Honey, if you're so reluctant to acknowledge me, should I go to Jasper for help in persuading you?"

At the mention of Daniel wanting to find Jasper, Adeline's brows furrowed sharply, and she looked cautious. "What are you trying to do?"

Although she was sure that Daniel probably didn't know the truth, Jasper was a suspicious person. Adeline had spent so much effort before to make Jasper give up his suspicions about her identity.

If Daniel really approached Jasper, even if it was just a passing comment, knowing Jasper's nature, he would surely investigate thoroughly. The relationship between her and Daniel only needed a DNA test report to clarify everything.

Even if Daniel was testing her, she couldn't afford to let him mention it in front of Jasper.

Seeing her hesitation, Daniel smirked and was about to say something when Jasper's cold voice came from behind them. "Daniel."

Jasper's gaze seemed to penetrate the soul. "What do you want me to persuade her about?"
