Chapter 573 The First Person Who Came to Mind Was Actually Jasper
Jasper got rushed to the ER and ended up staying in the hospital for three days straight. When he finally woke up, his phone rang. It was Lauren.
"Daddy, do you know what tomorrow is?" Her sweet voice chimed through the phone.
Jasper leaned back against the hospital bed, glancing at the clock, his eyes narrowing a bit.
"Your mommy's birthday."
He never forgot Adeline's birthday. Back when they were together, he always wanted to make it special. But when the day came, he'd feel like his plans were too mushy, so he'd just hand her a gift casually.
But truth be told, he picked out every gift with care.
Seeing her light up and call him "honey" made him happy inside, even if he never showed it. He was too hung up on his pride, thinking falling for her so easily was a weakness.
So, he never really celebrated her birthday properly.
After Adeline's accident six years ago, he wanted to say "Happy Birthday," but she wasn't there to hear it.
This year, though, he had already picked out her gift.
"Daddy, you remembered!"
Lauren sounded excited that Jasper hadn't forgotten Adeline's birthday. "So, have you got Mommy a gift?"
Jasper nodded. "Yeah, I did."
"Blake and I got something too!"
Lauren took a deep breath. "Mommy's had it rough these past few years, taking care of us all by herself."
She sighed. "When we were abroad, Brandon always celebrated Mommy's birthday, but she never wanted a big party because of Blake's illness."
"This year, Blake and I are finally healthy. Even though Bennett isn't back yet, we have news about him. I think Mommy deserves a proper, happy birthday this year!"
Jasper smiled, getting what she meant.
"You want to throw a big birthday party for your mommy?"
Lauren's voice got all excited. "Yes! At the garden party, Mommy was really happy. Turns out she likes lively events."
She went on. "Daddy, if you can, Blake and I need some money. We'll pay you back when we grow up!"
Jasper couldn't help but smile at Lauren's serious tone about borrowing money. "Alright, tell me your plans."
Seeing that Jasper didn't say no, Lauren cheered.
"Blake and I wrote down a bunch of ideas! I'll have Blake send them to you now!"
A minute later, Jasper got an email from Blake. He skimmed through it and could see how much effort the kids had put in.
A lot of the kids' ideas seemed simple to them but were actually pretty tough to pull off.
Seeing Jasper seriously jotting down notes, Ryan frowned. "Mr. Foster, are you really planning to throw a birthday party for Ms. Wilson?"
Jasper nodded without looking up. "What happened a few days ago really upset her. This can be my way of apologizing and making things right."
He closed his laptop. "Get the doctor to give me a cortisone shot. I need to get out of here."
Ryan's eyes widened. "No way! The doctor said you need to rest. You can't risk any more complications."
Ryan paused for a moment. "How about you handle the planning, and I'll take care of the arrangements?"
Jasper, looking pale, leaned against the headboard with a faint smile. "I know best what Adeline likes and dislikes."
He smiled again. "She's been through so much because of me lately. I have to personally prepare this birthday party for her."
With that, he sat up and started to get out of bed.
Seeing his pale face and bloodless lips, Ryan gritted his teeth. "I'll get the doctor!"
The next evening.
Exhausted from a day of shopping with Violet, Adeline finally got home.
Violet had insisted none of her clothes fit and that she needed new ones.
Adeline thought she'd just tag along for the morning, but Violet ended up buying clothes for all four seasons.
By the time Adeline was worn out, Violet excitedly dragged her into a maternity store.
They shopped from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Having not eaten all day and with sore feet, Adeline threw her bags on the floor and collapsed on the couch as soon as she got home.
After catching her breath, she noticed the villa was eerily quiet.
Lauren didn't come out to greet her, and Blake wasn't in the living room with his laptop. There wasn't even the sound of Alice cooking.
Adeline felt something was off. She sat up and started calling out, "Alice, Lauren, Blake?"
No one answered. Adeline felt a sense of dread and hurried upstairs to look. The kids' room and study were empty.
She quickly called Blake and Alice, but their phones rang inside the villa. Adeline was frantic.
She was about to call Violet when she saw a note on Blake's bed: [Come to the beach outside the city.]
Adeline rushed downstairs, flagged a taxi, and headed to the beach.
Sitting in the car, anxiously watching out the window, she took out her phone and dialed Jasper's number.
Before the call could connect, she suddenly realized and quickly hung up. The first person who came to her mind was Jasper.
