Chapter 433 Ask Him What He Thinks?
Adeline had that thought for just a split second before she squashed it.
She shook her head, thinking, 'What am I even thinking? No way Luna's the one who matched with Blake. And even if she was, would she just give her bone marrow for free? Yeah, right.'
The day after Blake got out of the hospital, Adeline was back at the Foster Group.
Lucia threw a little welcome-back shindig for her.
As soon as Adeline walked into the office, everyone started handing her flowers.
Lucia grinned, "Welcome back, Adeline!"
Robert chimed in, "Congrats on your son's recovery, Adeline!"
Timothy added, "Hope your son stays healthy and happy, Adeline!"
Lucia, Robert, Timothy, and Anne, who was back after her burns healed, all gave her flowers.
But there were two people who didn't join in: Luna in the corner and Amelia next to her.
After everyone had given their flowers and said their piece, Amelia suddenly seemed to remember something and shoved the flowers Lucia had given her into Luna's hands. "Luna, I wish you good health too!"
Then she sneered and shot a look at Lucia. "We're all in the same office. Luna was sick and had surgery too. Why didn't anyone wish her well? Someone's son gets better, and everyone acts like it's their own dad who recovered."
Amelia's words killed the vibe in the office.
Lucia's eyebrows shot up in anger. "Adeline's son beat a terminal illness! What's wrong with me congratulating her?"
Lucia had originally planned to take the staff to visit Blake at Adeline's home. Blake had beaten his illness, and it was only right for everyone to show their support!
But Adeline had nixed that idea, not wanting to trouble everyone.
So Lucia came up with this plan to celebrate when Adeline got back to work.
And now Amelia was throwing shade and saying such nasty stuff?
"Amelia," Luna frowned, giving her a reproachful look, her voice still soft and weak. "What are you talking about? Ms. Wilson, head of design, took a week off to care for her seriously ill son. Now that she's back, it's only right for everyone to celebrate. You shouldn't talk like that."
Luna's words made Amelia frown deeply, her face full of defiance. "But Luna, you had surgery too, and no one wished you well!"
Luna sighed. "I haven't been here long, and everyone doesn't know me well. It's normal for them not to wish me well."
Timothy, standing nearby, frowned and looked coldly at Luna. "What do you mean by 'everyone doesn't want to wish you well'? If you had leukemia, were critically ill several times, and finally recovered after a bone marrow transplant, we'd wish you well too!"
Luna smiled lightly, looking at Timothy. "But Adeline wasn't the one who was sick."
"Exactly!" Amelia snorted, "If you wanna wish her son well, why not do it at her house? Using company time to wish a kid who doesn't even work here? Seriously?"
She then turned to Luna eagerly. "Luna, you gotta tell Mr. Foster about this!"
"Forget it," Luna said, lowering her head sheepishly. "Jasper already celebrated with me in his office during work hours. He wanted the whole company to join in, but I thought it’d be too much trouble for everyone."
She blushed, looking down. "Honestly, I don't care if others wish me well or not. Having Jasper is enough for me."
Luna's words made Adeline narrow her eyes slightly. She knew Luna was doing this on purpose. Luna was dropping Jasper's name, making it clear he celebrated with her alone, just to show off and provoke Adeline.
Adeline couldn't help but laugh. Even now, Luna saw her as competition and was flaunting her relationship with Jasper.
Adeline wasn't interested in playing this game. She held the large bouquet and smiled calmly. "Ms. Jones is indeed sensible."
Then she looked at Lucia. "Ms. Jones and Amelia are right; we shouldn't do this during work hours. But since it's already done, everyone should write a 500-word reflection."
Everyone groaned inwardly. They were just expressing their blessings, why did they have to write a reflection?
"Additionally," Adeline smiled, "To celebrate my son Blake's recovery, I invite everyone to dinner and karaoke tonight."
The office erupted in cheers. Adeline was personally inviting everyone to dinner and karaoke! A 500-word reflection was nothing compared to that!
Lucia smiled and quieted everyone down. "Calm down, or other departments will come snooping. Quickly write your reflections, 500 words will be done in no time. Tonight, we'll leave work on time and go to dinner and karaoke with Adeline!"
After everyone quieted down, Adeline held the bouquet and walked to Amelia with a smile. "The time they wasted for me was about two minutes. Do you think a 500-word reflection is enough?"
Amelia's face turned pale. "Why are you asking me? I'm not the one who makes the company rules."
Adeline smiled. "I wasn't asking you. By the way, Lucia is your direct supervisor, right? You just spoke rudely to Lucia. According to company rules, how should that be handled?"
Seeing Amelia being troubled by Adeline, Luna frowned. "Amelia just said a few things she shouldn't have; there's no need to be so serious, right?"
Adeline retorted, "Everyone just wasted two minutes of work time. But Ms. Jones and Amelia took it seriously and even wanted to report it to the CEO. Why shouldn't we take it seriously when Amelia used such harsh words to insult Lucia?"
She glanced indifferently at Amelia's pale face. "Why don't I tell Jasper what you just said and see how he reacts?"
