Chapter 19 I Apologize to You

"Mummy! How romantic!"

Sitting in the cabin of the Ferris wheel, Lauren knelt on the chair, overlooking the panoramic view of the entire amusement park, clapping excitedly, "I had no idea the amusement park was this big!"

The little girl, experiencing her first ride on the Ferris wheel, danced with joy. "So when we go up high, everyone else in the park really does become smaller than ants!"

Adeline sat beside her, gently patting her back, feeling a mix of emotions. Over the past six years, these three children had endured a lot with her by their side. Especially Lauren. She was obedient and sensible, the kind of girl who would be adored by everyone if she were not born into their family. She wouldn't have to wait until she turned six to visit the amusement park for the first time. Nor would she have to face the likes of Molly.

Thinking about this, a pang of bitterness welled up in Adeline's heart. She took a deep breath, lifted Lauren into her arms, and buried her head in the back of the little girl's neck.

"I promise you, once this is over, I'll spend quality time with you all. How does that sound?"

Lauren turned her head, her clear eyes earnestly looking into Adeline's. "Will brother's illness get better too?"

Adeline nodded solemnly, "Yes."

"Mommy..." Lauren excitedly reached out and hugged Adeline.

As the two embraced, their cabin happened to reach the highest point of the Ferris wheel. With a piercing noise, the cabin started swaying.

"Ah!" Unable to hold onto anything, Lauren's small body was tossed around by the shaking.

Seeing her like that, Adeline's heart almost leaped out of her chest. Instinctively, she reached out her hand and tightly protected Lauren in her arms, and said, "Don't be afraid!"

Even though she held onto the handrail with all her might, the mother and daughter were still tossed back and forth by the swaying cabin.

After a while, the Ferris wheel finally stopped. However, the cabin was tilted.

Below the tilted cabin door, the door itself was also shaking, as if it could drop at any moment.

If the door were to fall, Adeline and Lauren would eventually lose their grips and fall from the tilted cabin!

Trembling in Adeline's embrace, Lauren was frightened, while Molly's eyes revealed a cold gleam.

So this was Molly's true intent today!

Adeline had thought that Molly at most wanted to harm Lauren, teach her a lesson, intentionally make her suffer.

But she had never expected that Molly wanted them both, Adeline and Lauren, to die together!

These thoughts tightened Adeline's heart mercilessly.

She gritted her teeth and, while the cabin door hadn't fallen yet, used the sturdiest backpack strap as a safety belt, tying Lauren to the window.

As for herself, she used her coat as a makeshift rope, fastening it around her wrist.

"Mommy!"

There was a hint of fear in the little girl's voice.

"Will we be okay? it's all my fault! I shouldn't have brought you, Mommy, on the Ferris wheel... Mommy, I'm scared..."

"It's alright," Adeline gently patted Lauren's back, her other hand trembling as she took out her phone.

No signal.

She tightened her grip on her phone, her fingertips turning pale.

Indeed, she had underestimated Molly's ruthlessness and Jasper's favoritism towards Molly.

With a loud noise, the carriage door beneath Adeline's feet directly snapped and fell.

From a height of over a hundred meters, the falling carriage only cast a small shadow.

"Mommy!" Lauren finally couldn't hold back her tears.

If Mommy hadn't just tied her up, she would have already fallen down by now!

Adeline took a deep breath, wanting to say something comforting to Lauren. She struggled to find the right words but couldn't say anything at all.

Her mind went blank.

Meanwhile, chaos broke out below in the amusement park.

"Someone is trapped up there!"

"The carriage door fell off! Won't they fall out?"

"If they fall from such a height, they'll turn into pancakes..."

Listening to the discussions of the people around her, Molly adjusted herself to a more comfortable position in her chair. She turned to the bodyguard beside her and said, "Call Jasper. Tell him that the maid called Adeline insisted on taking Lauren on the Ferris wheel, resulting in this accident."

The bodyguard hesitated.

However, Molly gave him a disdainful look, "What's the hesitation? Do you think that woman can survive this? Didn't we decide what to say? Besides, inform the amusement park staff to make a show of a rescue. After they fall and die, then repair the equipment."

"Yes!"

After the bodyguard left, Molly fanned herself while looking in the direction of the Ferris wheel, a cold smile on her lips.

"Adeline, oh Adeline, you thought bringing this little girl back would allow you to go against me?"

Not killing the child in your belly back then was a mistake to begin with.

Now that you have personally sent her back, don't blame me for not going easy on her!

...

"Mommy! Lauren!"

On the Ferris wheel, a calm boy's voice came from the necklace around Lauren's neck.

"Blake?" Adeline's eyes widened.

"It's me. I modified Lauren's necklace, the signal is stronger, and we can communicate through it in emergencies."

The voice of the young boy on the other end of the phone sounded steady, "I've hacked into the amusement park's surveillance system. I can see you now."

Across the vast ocean, a frail and pale young boy sat on a hospital bed, his gaze tightly fixed on the computer screens in front of him, split into several pieces.

"Bennett and I have been in contact. As soon as you had an accident, he went to the control room."

"It shouldn't take more than five minutes, and you'll be stable."

Biting her lip, feeling moved, Adeline said, "Darling, you've worked so hard."

Blake remained silent for a moment.

"Mummy, you both came back to America because of me. I've told you before that I don't care about living a few more years, yet you insisted on coming back. If something happens to you..."

Hearing her son's voice, Adeline felt a pang in her heart, "Don't say that."

"Blake!" Lauren was already crying, her voice weak. She was hanging on the window by the seatbelt, her tone unusually resolute. "It's all my fault, not mommy's. I regret not coming back to help Blake. I just regret bringing Mommy here."

"At this point, let's not blame each other, alright?" Bennett's voice came through the necklace, panting. "Blake, I've reached the control room. Which way controls the Ferris wheel?"

Upon hearing Bennett's voice, Blake quickly adjusted his tone and continued to calmly give instructions.

"Left. Two people inside are watching videos at a high volume, and the room is locked. You won't be able to enter. However, around the corner of the stairs, there are two security guards chatting. Got it!"

Bennett took a deep breath, put down the necklace, and pulled out a wad of cash from his pocket. He swiftly ran to the staircase.

"Gentlemen, want to make some money?"
