Chapter 754 He Is Here to Admit His Mistake
Adeline's pregnancy was eventually discovered by the Phoebe family.
In the middle of the night, the Phoebe family threw a full-blown family meeting.
Adeline sat quietly in a corner, clutching a pillow the doctor had given her to help with her nausea, watching Howard and Oliver argue.
"This kid is Jasper's. It has to go!" Howard shouted.
He vividly remembered Jasper apologizing to Adeline with three kids in tow at the banquet hall entrance earlier that evening. Jasper was clearly trying to use the children to force Adeline into submission.
Adeline was his and Zara's daughter. Just as Zara cherished her own children, Adeline would undoubtedly feel the same way. She might have been able to harden her heart against the three children, but adding a fourth might sway her.
Thinking of this, Howard squinted his eyes. "Where's the doctor? Let's get the abortion done now!"
Daisy, standing nearby, frowned and quietly poured coffee for Zara. "Dad, Adeline's pregnancy is less than two months along. One pill can solve this. Why bother the doctor?"
She pulled a pill from her pocket and placed it on the table, a faint smile on her lips. "If this kid really can't stay, then Adeline just needs to take this pill."
Oliver sneered, stepping in front of Adeline protectively, his gaze icy as he looked at Daisy. "Daisy, why do you have this kind of pill? Didn't you say you were still a virgin?"
He glanced at the pill, clearly cut from a full blister pack, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Why is there only one? Where are the others?"
Daisy's face turned pale instantly. She bit her lip, her eyes reddening. "Oliver, what nonsense are you spouting? This pill isn't mine. I got it from the doctor just now."
She turned her head, leaning against Zara's arm, looking aggrieved. "Mom, look at Oliver. He's always saying things to make me look bad."
Zara sighed, gently patting Daisy's head. "Oliver likes to joke around. You know that."
She glanced at Oliver. "Daisy minds, so don't make such jokes anymore."
Adeline looked up, watching Zara's hand gently caress Daisy's head, but said nothing.
Sensing Adeline's gaze, Zara's hand paused. She turned and saw Adeline watching her, then subtly shifted her body, pushing Daisy's head away. "You're grown up now, don't act like a child."
Daisy noticed everything Zara did. She pouted and acted spoiled with Zara, but her eyes narrowed slightly.
Adeline had only just been reunited with the family, and Zara was already less affectionate with her. If Adeline stayed with the Phoebe family longer... what would happen to Daisy's status?
"Never mind where the pill came from. Adeline needs it now!" Howard squinted, picking up the pill and placing it in front of Adeline. "Adeline, listen to me. Take it."
"Now that you're back with the Phoebe family, you can't have Jasper's child."
Oliver frowned, coldly staring at Howard. "Why can't she have this baby? If Adeline wants it, she can have it. It's her choice!"
Howard's anger flared. "I'm not trying to take away her right to have children! But because this child is Jasper's, to reduce her ties with him, it can't stay! Our daughter has already given the Foster family three kids. That's enough! I won't allow her to have a fourth!"
Howard's firm stance made Oliver laugh coldly. "If a Phoebe daughter can't have a Foster child, then what about me, a Foster child born to a Phoebe mother? Why didn't you get rid of me back then?"
Oliver's words silenced the room. Howard glared at him. "What nonsense are you talking about? You're getting more and more out of line! You didn't inherit any of your mother's gentleness and wisdom!"
Oliver sneered. "Exactly. I didn't inherit any of my mother's good traits. I only got Mr. Phoebe's flaws. You should have expected this outcome. Why didn't you get rid of me back then?"
"You!" Howard's face turned red with anger, and he sat down, fuming. "You ungrateful brat!"
Zara, seeing Howard's state, couldn't help but feel a bit sympathetic. She sighed, giving Oliver a glance. "Oliver, there's no need to be so sharp-tongued. Your father means no harm."
"Adeline's child..." Zara lowered her head. "It really would be best to terminate it. Otherwise, the child will follow in your footsteps."
Oliver paused, understanding what Zara meant. He frowned, snorted, and sat on the couch without another word.
After a while, Howard looked at the untouched pill in front of Adeline. "Adeline, it's time to decide."
Adeline looked up, her gaze cold as she glanced at Howard and the pill. She picked it up, a cold smile on her lips. "Just one pill to kill the baby I've fought so hard to keep? I refuse."
She threw the pill into the trash. "This child was conceived before I returned to the Phoebe family. The Phoebe family has no right to decide its fate. Not even I, as the mother, have the right to decide its life or death. Only the child can decide that."
"If Mr. Phoebe thinks my pregnancy disgraces the family, you can kick me out. Even if Jasper doesn't want me, I don't have to come back here."
She glanced at Zara and Daisy. "I think Mrs. Phoebe, having Daisy, doesn't really miss me."
Zara's eyes widened. She quickly distanced herself from Daisy, her voice anxious. "Adeline, how can you say that?"
Adeline said nothing, heading upstairs. Just then, a servant entered. "Mr. Phoebe, Brandon from the Torres family is here."
"Why is he here now?"
The servant hesitated, then spoke quietly, "He says Ms. Adeline Phoebe is carrying his child, and he's here to take responsibility."
