Chapter 196 Are You Saying It was Stella Who Did It?
Jasper's appearance startled Adeline, who was negotiating with Lyndon in the room.
After calming herself, she smiled faintly. "It's okay. Someone installed pinhole cameras in my room, Lyndon helped me remove them."
She pointed to the dozen or so cameras on the coffee table. "They're all here."
Jasper glanced down.
He walked over, picked up a few cameras from the dozen or so and held them in his hand. "With so many cameras, the peeping person must have gone to great lengths."
Indeed, there have been many news reports online about people installing pinhole cameras in hotel rooms.
However, most of these people do it to capture some erotic scenes to sell for money.
Therefore, even if there were pinhole cameras, they would only be placed directly facing the bed, sofa, and maybe a few in the bathroom.
But in Adeline's room, there were over a dozen.
Obviously, the other party wanted to have a clear view of everything happening in every corner of Adeline's room.
"Did you call the police?"
Adeline smiled at Jasper. "I canceled it."
Jasper raised an eyebrow, canceled it?
"I promised to compensate Ms. Wilson with a hefty sum, and she let it go."
Lyndon sighed, stood up. "Ms. Wilson, I've done what I needed to do, the money has been transferred to your account. If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."
Without waiting for Adeline's response, he turned and left.
"What's all the fuss about!? Go back to sleep!"
As he left, Lyndon gave Linda and Zavier a cold glance.
Linda and Zavier exchanged a look before silently leaving.
Stella peeked through the door crack at Adeline and Jasper in the room.
Seeing that they didn't look at her, she frowned and blinked at Lyndon.
He shook his head at her, turned, and walked away.
As his figure disappeared at the end of the corridor, Stella received a message from him: [Stella, this woman Adeline is not simple. Not only did she not capture anything from her bath, she even threatened me... The surveillance videos I gave you before, you should delete them. Even if you don't delete them, don't spread them anymore. Otherwise, it will involve the entire Evelyn's Family.]
Stella narrowed her eyes, looking at the message on her phone, a hint of coldness at the corner of her lips.
Involving the entire Evelyn's Family?
Just because of a small Adeline.
Even if the video was leaked, what could Adeline do to her?
Deleting the message on her phone, Stella put away her phone and elegantly walked to Adeline's door, leaning against the door frame with a smile. "Jasper, is Ms. Wilson okay?"
Jasper furrowed his brows. "She's fine."
Seeing Stella, Adeline stretched lazily, collected all the pinhole cameras on the table into a small box, then looked at Jasper indifferently. "Mr. Foster, it's late, you should go rest. Ms. Foster is waiting for you."
Her way of addressing him as Mr. Foster and Ms. Foster made Jasper instinctively uncomfortable.
Jasper furrowed his brows, suppressed his displeasure, and gave her a deep look. "Is this matter really settled like this?"
Adeline smiled faintly. "There wasn't anything valuable captured."
Jasper sighed and then turned to leave.
As he reached the door, Stella smiled and took hold of the man's arm, "Jasper, it's so scary, could there be such things in our room too?"
Jasper narrowed his eyes slightly. "No."
It wasn't his first business trip.
Every time he stayed in a hotel outside, Ryan would have already checked for such things in advance.
This time, in his haste, Ryan probably only checked his room, hence overlooking Adeline's.
Upon returning to the room, Stella subconsciously took Jasper's hand and headed toward the bedroom.
But he pulled his hand away. "You go to sleep first."
Stella frowned. "Jasper, it's past ten, you should rest too. Is work that important?"
Jasper acknowledged and then turned to the study.
Stella stood in place, watching him enter the study and close the door firmly, biting her lip hard.
She had been by his side for so long!
Jasper never slept with her!
Even if he mistook last night's Adeline for her, he still wouldn't sleep with her today!
Was this man's heart made of stone?
She had done so much for him, yet all she got was his cold treatment!
It must be...
It must be because of Adeline!
Only if Adeline was gone would he treat her well.
...
Sitting in the study, Jasper placed the few pinhole cameras he held on to the desk and called Ryan.
"Check the signal sources of these pinhole cameras and confirm where the recorded images have been transmitted."
"Yes." Ryan nodded and put away the cameras. "Jasper, where did you find these?"
Jasper furrowed his brows, a coldness at the corner of his lips. "And you dare to ask me? Why didn't you check Adeline's room before letting her move in?"
Ryan was puzzled. "What? These... were found in Adeline's room!?"
Jasper gave him a cold glance. "Yes."
Ryan was completely bewildered.
"No... that's impossible! I have checked Ms. Wilson's room thoroughly, you should be reassured! Every time you and the other executives go on business trips, I always handle this properly, never missed anything. You should trust me!"
After saying that, he glanced at the pinhole cameras in his hand. "With cameras of this caliber, if they were real, I wouldn't have missed them. Her room was checked, and there was nothing."
Jasper suddenly paused.
"When did you check?"
"It was yesterday when you and Ms. Wilson went to the Evelyn's Family. Should we... check the corridor surveillance?"
Jasper closed his eyes. "It's useless. Do you really think those pinhole cameras weren't set up by the hotel staff?
"If it was arranged by the hotel, even the corridor surveillance wouldn't give us any leverage. Instead of checking the surveillance, imagine if there were any strange people or events yesterday."
Strange people and events...
Ryan fell silent for a moment.
After a while, he quietly pursed his lips. "Yesterday... after checking your room, I went to check your room. When I left your room, I saw Stella standing at Ms. Wilson's door, holding the doorknob, not sure if she wanted to go in or had just come out. When she saw me, Stella told me she thought that room was yours..."
Jasper furrowed his brows, his eyes cold. "Are you saying it was Stella who did it?"
Ryan quickly shook his head. "I just found it strange at the time. Ms. Wilson's room is just a regular room, while yours is a suite, the sign on the door is clear.
"Every time you go on a business trip, you stay in the presidential suite. The former butler even told me that before Stella left, she always helped you book the hotels. Technically, she shouldn't..."
Jasper rubbed his temples with his hand. "Don't you think. Stella can't remember many things from the past."
Even tonight, when Linda and Zavier were arguing outside her door, she remained indifferent.
She even seemed to want to avoid it.
Even when she opened the door, she had no words of comfort for them, only anger.
Even if her personality changed drastically after the car accident six years ago, she shouldn't treat her former classmates and tablemates like this.
