Chapter 704 Maybe It's Fake
Adeline lifted her head and locked eyes with Fiona. "I agree to marry Brandon."
"Adeline!"
Brandon, who had been slumped over the table, suddenly snapped to attention, his face contorted with anger. He reached out, wincing in pain, and grabbed Adeline's arm.
"Are you crazy? We'll have a huge engagement party, and Jasper will find out! If he finds out, your relationship will fall apart."
Adeline bit her lip and yanked her arm free from Brandon's grasp. She took a step back, just out of his reach.
"Brandon, it's one thing for you to worry about me, but why are you worrying about Jasper too? You've done so much for others; it's time you thought about yourself."
She took a deep breath and turned to Fiona.
"Mrs. Torres, you decide how big and grand tomorrow's engagement party will be. I won't run away or back out this time."
Adeline glanced at Brandon, who was covered in blood. "I'll keep my promise and take good care of him."
With that, she walked over to Brandon, instructing a servant to find a doctor while helping others lift Brandon back into his wheelchair.
As she pushed Brandon to the entrance of the side courtyard, Adeline paused.
"I have also agreed to your demands. But please, don't make things difficult for him anymore. He's already lost the use of his legs and is no longer the head of the Torres family."
Then she pushed Brandon through the main gate of the side courtyard.
Watching the door close, Randy and Fiona exchanged a glance, a strange smile playing on their lips.
The sky was beginning to lighten.
In a five-star hotel in Oceancrest City, Jasper hadn't slept all night again. He remembered his promise to Adeline to bring her home in a week. Today was the last day.
While planning with Ryan to take down the Phoebe family, he had accounted for the roles Oliver and his son could play. But he had underestimated Oliver's capabilities.
Oliver had been claiming he was stepping down from the Phoebe family to travel with his son, but during his so-called travels, he had done a lot for the Phoebe family.
Last night, Oliver returned to the country with Joseph, bringing contracts and funds that gave the Phoebe family a chance despite being besieged.
Jasper knew that with his abilities, he could eliminate this new obstacle in just a few days. But Adeline couldn't wait any longer.
He had promised her, and he couldn't break his word. He had hurt her and owed her too much already. So even without sleep, he was determined to bring the Phoebe family to its knees and get Adeline back today.
Seeing the Phoebe family's stock prices plummet on the computer screen, Ryan, who had been working with Jasper all night, finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Mr. Foster, don't worry. The stock prices have tanked so badly that the Phoebe family won't bounce back in the next ten hours. You haven't slept properly in days. Get some rest now so you'll be in good shape when you see Mrs. Foster later."
Jasper frowned, glanced at Ryan, then headed to the bedroom. Ryan quickly followed, making the bed for him.
"Yeah, get some sleep. You need to be full of energy when Mrs. Foster sees you. She'll be worried if you look all worn out."
Jasper gave a faint nod, turned, and lay down on the bed. Soon, his breathing became steady and rhythmic.
"He fell asleep so fast."
Ryan sighed, covering Jasper with a light blanket. Since arriving in Oceancrest City, Jasper had been relentless, sparing no expense or effort to take down the Phoebe Group. All to rescue Adeline from the Phoebe family.
Ryan had tried everything to get him to eat and sleep, but nothing worked. Only when Adeline was mentioned did Jasper seem to follow orders to eat and sleep, fearing she would worry about him.
Closing Jasper's bedroom door, Ryan lay down on the sofa, casually scrolling through Oceancrest City news before sleeping.
"This morning, the Torres Group announced that former head Brandon Torres will hold a grand engagement ceremony tonight at Crystal Heights Resort. The bride-to-be is Adeline, the designer he rescued from Radiance Springs years ago. She returned to Oceancrest City over a week ago to fulfill her promise to marry Brandon as a token of gratitude for saving her life."
The sudden news broadcast made Ryan's eyes widen in shock. He stared at the news on his phone, recognizing the woman pushing the wheelchair.
Wasn't this the Adeline Jasper had been searching for all week, attacking the Phoebe family to find?
Ryan almost thought he was seeing things. He rubbed his eyes. No mistake—the woman standing behind Brandon, holding his hand and declaring she would marry him, was Adeline.
Ryan replayed the news, stunned. How could this be? Wasn't Adeline in love with Jasper?
How could she suddenly announce she was marrying Brandon? Wasn't she captured by the Phoebe family and held in their dungeon? How did she end up with the Torres family?
He instinctively turned to the closed bedroom door. Jasper was still resting. Should he tell him this news?
As Ryan hesitated, the bedroom door was kicked open from the inside. Jasper, in his pajamas, looking exhausted and unshaven, stood in the doorway, his eyes cold as he stared at Ryan.
"Give me the phone."
Ryan hesitated and quickly hid it behind his back.
"Mr. Foster! Calm down. This news might be fake! Mrs. Foster wouldn't, she couldn't..."
"Give it to me!"
Jasper stared at him. "Give me the phone!"
Ryan bit his lip, exhaled deeply, and handed the phone, still playing the engagement news, to Jasper.
