Chapter 487 We Will Find You

Listening to Jasper's voice while he held her and chatted with Luna on the phone, Adeline just closed her eyes, feeling a bit helpless.

Honestly, right then, Adeline really wanted to push Jasper away, tell Ryan to stop the car, and just storm out. But she couldn't do that.

Jasper had just spilled a bunch of stuff in front of her that he wouldn't normally say if she was sober.

If she got up now and he figured out she was faking being drunk, things would just get more awkward between them.

Jasper couldn't keep pretending he didn't care about her; she'd have to deal with his over-the-top affection. So, since she was playing the drunk card, she had to stick with it.

"Come back soon, okay?" Luna's voice was all sweet on the other end. "I made something yummy for you."

Jasper chuckled. "What did you make? I should be the one cooking for you."

Luna replied, "No, I want to do something for you before I die. Come back soon!"

Then she even kissed the phone, making a loud smooch sound.

Jasper frowned a bit.

Even though he and Luna were a thing, they'd never even kissed. Why was she acting all different today?

Jasper was puzzled but didn't think too much about it.

Luna was just a twenty-year-old girl. Maybe she thought it was normal because of her age?

But that kiss sound made Adeline, who was in Jasper's arms, roll her eyes silently.

Jasper had the nerve to criticize her for going on a joyride with Vikram, saying it wasn't very mature of her. But blowing kisses to little girls was mature, Jasper?

Soon, they arrived at Blue Bay.

After Ryan parked, Jasper scooped up Adeline and headed towards the villa.

Being held by Jasper, Adeline could smell his scent and feel his heartbeat.

In the end, she couldn't resist and, pretending to be drunk, said, "Jasper."

"Yeah." Jasper frowned, his deep voice soft. "I'm here."

Adeline's heart skipped a beat.

For some reason, Jasper always seemed extra gentle when she was drunk.

Adeline asked, "Have you ever liked me?"

Her question made Jasper pause for a moment.

After a bit, Jasper chuckled. "Whether I liked you or not, it doesn't matter anymore."

Then he tightened his hold on her and carried her into Blue Bay.

Blake and Lauren had promised Adeline they'd go to bed early and not wait up, so when Jasper brought her in, only Alice, who was on night duty, was in the living room.

Seeing Jasper carrying Adeline, Alice quickly came over. "Miss Wilson said she wouldn't drink, but she did. It's lucky Blake and Lauren are asleep, or they'd be worried again."

Alice muttered as she helped Jasper lay Adeline on the sofa.

After that, Alice took a deep breath. "When Miss Wilson wakes up, should I tell her you brought her back?"

Jasper looked down at Adeline, her face flushed. "No need. Just say a colleague brought her back."

Jasper took another long look at Adeline. "She'll have a headache from the drinking. Prepare some hangover soup for her."

After that, Jasper seemed to remember something and let out a deep sigh. "I'll do it myself."

He took off his tie, unbuttoned the top two buttons of his shirt, and headed to the kitchen.

Jasper had never made hangover soup for Adeline before.

When he made it for Luna, she had secretly recorded a video and sent it to Adeline to brag. Jasper had no idea how Adeline felt when she got that video.

That night, Jasper had actually thought about how Adeline would feel after drinking, so he made the hangover soup.

Originally, he wanted Ryan to deliver it to Adeline, but Luna saw him busy in the kitchen. So, the hangover soup meant for Adeline ended up being Luna's bragging tool.

Jasper sighed, tied on an apron, and got busy in the kitchen.

Adeline lay on the sofa, her eyes barely open, watching Jasper work.

For some reason, tonight's Jasper seemed like a stranger. The old Jasper wouldn't lift a finger for her, let alone make hangover soup.

If it weren't for Luna's call earlier, she might still be fooling herself into thinking Jasper liked her. But now, everything he did felt like a cruel joke.

Maybe Jason wasn't lying.

Jasper might have liked her once, but that was in the past.

Now, everything Jasper did was probably to ease his guilt, to make himself feel better about the harm he caused her. But a bowl of soup and a bit of care couldn't make up for what he owed her.

Half an hour later, Jasper finished the hangover soup and brought it to the dining table.

"Let her drink it in ten minutes; the temperature will be just right," he told Alice.

After giving his final instructions, Jasper put on his tie, grabbed his coat, and left.

Adeline watched his tall, straight figure disappear and sighed deeply. There was an indescribable feeling in her heart.

After the sound of the car faded away, Alice helped Adeline up and fed her the hangover soup.

Adeline pretended to have just woken up. She didn't ask Alice who brought her back or why the soup tasted different today.

She got up and went to her bedroom. Sitting at her desk, she covered her eyes with her hands, trying to hold back her tears.

Adeline knew that even if Jasper did all this for her, he was still a jerk; he was still a man who protected Luna. But she couldn't help feeling sad for his brief moment of gentleness.

Taking a deep breath, Adeline tried to push away the thoughts she shouldn't have and decided to play a video on her computer to lighten her mood.

But as soon as she turned on the computer, she received an anonymous email.

Like the previous two, this one was also from a string of gibberish.

After a month, she finally got another anonymous email. Adeline quickly opened it, pushing aside her melancholic feelings.

The email contained cryptic messages as before.
