Chapter 371 "I'll take her to see them right now!"
Alice's shout made Adeline freeze instantly.
She didn't even have time to reply to Mia and rushed downstairs, leaving her phone behind.
Blake's health wasn't great, and any emotional agitation could easily trigger an episode!
When she ran downstairs barefoot, what she saw wasn't Blake having an episode. Instead, Blake was holding a small dining knife against Jasper's neck.
The blade had already cut Jasper's skin slightly, blood trickling down the wound.
Alice stood nearby, her face ashen, holding Lauren tightly to prevent her from witnessing the gruesome scene.
Although Blake wasn't having an episode, the sight still left Adeline speechless with shock.
She frowned and walked over. "What's going on?"
Blake glanced at her indifferently, his childish voice carrying a mature tone."Mommy, stay out of this. This is a man-to-man showdown"
Adeline didn't know what to say.
She only saw Blake unilaterally hurting Jasper.
Fortunately, Blake had held back; although Jasper's neck was bleeding, it wasn't serious based on the amount of blood.
Adeline sighed, turned around, and took the first aid kit from the shelf. She sat on the sofa with it, waiting for this "showdown" to end.
Jasper remained motionless, staring coldly at Blake.
Blake fearlessly met Jasper's gaze with fierce eyes.
They stared at each other for a long time before Blake finally exhaled and put the knife away. "You win."
He picked up the glass of milk on the table and drank it in one gulp. "A bet's a bet."
With that, he jumped off the chair and walked over to Alice, taking Lauren's hand. "Come upstairs with me."
Lauren nodded and followed her brother silently.
After they left, Jasper walked over and sat next to Adeline, glancing at the first aid kit. "Be gentle; I'm afraid of pain."
Adeline rolled her eyes at him and didn't open the first aid kit. "When did I say I was going to bandage you?"
He smiled. "If you're not going to, why did you take out the first aid kit?"
She had been sitting on the sofa with the first aid kit, waiting. If she wasn't worried about him, then what?
Thinking of this, he smirked and leaned closer. "Come on."
She frowned and instinctively moved back. "I took out the first aid kit, but not for you."
"Then who is it for?" He asked.
"For Blake," She said.
Adeline gave Jasper a cold look. "In case you went too far and hurt Blake, I could bandage him immediately."
Jasper laughed, leaning leisurely on the sofa."Even though you hate me now, you can't make things up."
"Do I look like someone who would hurt Blake?" He asked.
She paused. "Then what was the bet between you two?"
"Nothing." He shrugged. "We betted on whether Blake would really dare to attack me."
In fact, the bet was whether he dared to die for Adeline or not.
But he didn't want to tell her the truth.
"Ridiculous." She rolled her eyes at him and finally opened the first aid kit. "Come closer."
She took out the iodine and frowned at him. Jasper chuckled and was about to lean in when his phone rang.
From her angle, she could see his phone screen.
The contact name on the screen was Jones.
Jasper had two phones; one for business and one for personal use.
The phone ringing now was his personal phone.
Seeing the name Jones, she frowned in confusion.
Did Jasper know anyone with the last name Jones? Why didn't she know?
Originally, she planned to wait for Jasper to answer the call and then deduce who it was from their conversation.
But unexpectedly, his expression froze when he saw the caller.
He raised his hand and declined the call, standing up. "I have something to do, so I have to go."
Adeline was still holding the iodine. She looked at the thin trickle of blood seeping from his neck wound. "But you need to treat your wound, right?"
Just now, he insisted she admit she wanted to treat his wound. Now, after one phone call, he didn't care about the wound anymore?
"It's fine." He raised his hand and wiped his blood. "I have to go."
With that, he walked to the door, picked up the documents by the door, and left.
As he walked out, he gave her a deep look."Goodbye."
Adeline looked at him, puzzled.
It was a long time after he left before she remembered she hadn't replied to Mia.
She quickly went upstairs, took out her phone, and was about to reply when her phone rang. It was Mia.
She frowned and answered, "Mia?"
"Adeline, you really have some tricks up your sleeve." The voice on the other end wasn't Mia's, but Thomas's.
He seemed to gritted his teeth. "I originally wanted to let you and Mia go, but why didn't you give me a chance?"
He laughed arrogantly. "Adeline, you forced me to do this!"
Adeline gripped her phone tightly. "Thomas! Calm down."
"You and Mia aren't married yet. If you do anything to her now and she dies, you won't get a penny!"
"By then, the White family's fortune will go to distant relatives. Are you willing to let that happen?"
Her words made Thomas's arrogant aura weaken a bit on the other end of the line.
After a while, he sneered. "You think I don't know that?"
"All this time, I've treated her like a goddess, pleasing her every moment, making her think I'm the one who loves her most in this world."
"But what happened?"
"You were in a coma for over a month and have only been awake for a few days, yet she already trusts you over me and views me as her enemy!"
"Adeline, you're despicable!"
Hearing him, Adeline exhaled deeply in relief.
Although Thomas's voice was full of hatred, Adeline could tell he still wanted Mia's inheritance.
Since he wanted the money, he wouldn't harm her.
At least before their wedding, he wouldn't.
Thinking of this, Adeline calmed herself and tried to keep her voice steady. "Thomas, how is Mia now?"
"How is she? I knocked her out." He said.
On the other end, he was driving, glancing at the tightly-bound Mia in the back seat through the rearview mirror. His voice was cold. "Mia just wants to know where Mark and Grace are, right? I'm taking her to see them now."
