Chapter 869 You Were the Ones Who Swapped the Child

Adeline's brow furrowed deeply.

She looked at Daisy, her voice slightly hoarse, "What are you getting at?"

"Are you saying... the one who dug up our child's grave... was Jasper?"

"Obviously," Daisy crossed her arms, her gaze indifferent. "Who else would be interested in your dead child?"

Adeline bit her lip, the memory of her frantically digging up her child's grave with her own hands at night flashing before her eyes.

Jasper, who was with her at the time, didn't seem as anxious. He even calmly instructed Ryan to fetch a shovel.

Back then, Adeline didn't think much of it. Now, it seemed Jasper's behavior was indeed strange.

Seeing Adeline deep in thought, Daisy knew she had taken the bait. She smirked and pulled up surveillance footage on her phone, showing Jasper visiting a lab late at night.

Of course, the timestamp had been altered by an expert to show it was the day after Adeline and Jasper buried their child.

In the footage, Jasper was seen going to the lab for a test. Daisy sneered, "What kind of test requires someone like Jasper to go in person in the middle of the night?"

Adeline bit her lip, staring intently at the video of Jasper. She watched him get out of the car at the lab, walk inside, and anxiously wait on the couch.

Daisy continued to add fuel to the fire, "Adeline, you think your relationship with Jasper is unbreakable just because you're from the Phoebe family and he's from the Foster family, and you can't be together. But in reality... are you really that important to Jasper?"

"He doesn't believe the child is his, and he doesn't believe you wouldn't kill. He even locked you up to prevent you from becoming the CEO of the Phoebe Group. Maybe that secretary who died was killed by someone he sent to frame you."

"His grandmother ruthlessly killed Wilford, who came to the Foster family to make peace. Why wouldn't Jasper send someone to kill the secretary to control you?"

She sighed, "I heard that the secretary, before she died, grabbed your neck and asked why you killed her. If the real killer hadn't told her it was you, why would she say that before she died?"

Daisy's words grew more intense, "Adeline, maybe you and Jasper were in love before. But ever since Jasper opposed the Phoebe family to avenge his grandmother, and you returned to the Phoebe family, Jasper has had a rift with you."

Adeline sat in her chair, her hands clenched into fists at her sides. Her rational mind told her not to believe Daisy, who was not a good person and wouldn't tell her the truth out of kindness.

But emotionally, Adeline couldn't control herself. She didn't understand why Jasper would dig up their child's body for a DNA test right after the child was buried.

She didn't understand why Jasper, who claimed to love her, would let the real killer go free and imprison her, knowing she wasn't the killer.

She didn't understand, she really didn't. Was loving someone supposed to mean treating her like a puppet, making all the decisions for her? Was this Jasper's idea of love?

Or was it as Daisy said, that Jasper's hatred for the Phoebe family had overshadowed his feelings for her, and he now treated her like an enemy?

Seeing Adeline on the verge of breaking down, Daisy sighed and dropped a bombshell, "But Adeline, don't blame Jasper for not trusting you."

She pulled out an official test certificate from her pocket and placed it on the table. "Look. The child you and Jasper buried wasn't his."

Adeline was stunned. She shakily picked up the DNA test certificate, which clearly stated there was no blood relation between the two samples. Her hands trembled.

She remembered the servant who, before dying, told her the child had been swapped. But the servant didn't have time to say who did it or where her real child was before being silenced.

Adeline bit her lip, her emotions in turmoil. On one hand, she was excited because there was a chance her child was still alive. Hope was better than despair.

On the other hand, she was anxious. What if her child was still alive? Where should she look? What if she found only a corpse in the end?

Thinking of this, her heart ached as if squeezed by an invisible hand.

"Adeline," Daisy said, a faint smile on her lips. "I should tell you my real purpose for coming today. You didn't think I came to fulfill my promise, did you? I never keep my word."

Adeline looked up, her eyes dazed from overthinking. "What's your real purpose?"

Daisy took a deep breath, "You might not know, but after I was kicked out of the Phoebe family, Brandon was also kicked out of the Torres family. We're both homeless and have no income."

She smirked, "But I know where your biological child is. So I want to make a deal with you. If Brandon and I find your child and return them to you, you give us a small company from the Phoebe Group to run."

She leaned back in her chair, "If you don't agree, that's fine. Once we find the child, we can make a deal with Jasper. Then we'll be part of the Foster Group."

She lowered her voice, her gaze fixed on Adeline, "Brandon and I have run the Phoebe Group and Torres Group for a long time. We know the internal structure and personnel well. If we join Jasper, it won't be good for you. Think about it, Adeline."

Her words made Adeline narrow her eyes. She knew about Daisy but hadn't expected Brandon to be kicked out of the Torres family.

"So you came to me today to get back into the Phoebe family?" She lowered her voice, "I'm curious. If the child was swapped, Jasper would investigate. If he couldn't find out, how can you and Brandon be so sure you can find the child and make a deal with me?"

"Unless... you were the ones who swapped the child."
