Chapter 797 Adeline, Look at My Child

"I... Adeline and I are half-siblings," Oliver stammered, forcing a nervous smile and avoiding Jasper's gaze. "Our kids look kinda alike... It's not impossible."

David, standing nearby, couldn't help but chuckle. "A baby less than a month old? They all look pretty much the same at that age," he said, patting Oliver on the shoulder. "Besides, Lauren's so young. How could she remember what she looked like as a baby?"

Oliver pressed his lips together and cleared his throat. "I'm not nervous," he insisted, though his expression betrayed him. Jasper noticed every detail, his brow furrowing slightly. Something about Oliver's demeanor made him suspect that he was hiding something.

Just then, a servant stepped out into the yard. "Gentlemen, Ms. Linda Phoebe says she hasn't seen Miss Wilson in a long time and would like to catch up with her. However, Miss Wilson becomes very emotional when she sees Mr. Foster, so..."

The servant paused. "Ms. Phoebe requests that all three of you leave."

The three men exchanged glances, momentarily at a loss for words. David smirked and opened the car door. "Looks like we're not welcome here. Come on, I'll take you guys to a great place."

Jasper and Oliver exchanged another look before following David into the car.

From the balcony on the second floor, Linda watched the car drive away and finally let out a sigh of relief. She turned to Adeline. "Alright, you can cry as much as you need to now."

Adeline sniffled and clung to Linda's shoulder, sobbing uncontrollably. The pain and helplessness of losing her child over the past few days poured out in the presence of her friend.

"Adeline, life goes on," Linda said, holding her close. "I'm sure your child wouldn't want you to be like this every day. Promise me you'll take care of yourself for the next month. After that, let's work on becoming a new Adeline, okay? I'll be with you."

Linda pulled out her phone and started a video call with Mia and Violet. "We're all here for you!"

Adeline wiped her tears and managed a smile. "Okay, I'll get through this."

With the support of Linda and Oliver, Adeline's physical and emotional wounds began to heal. Jasper and David would drive to a corner outside the yard every day, secretly watching the two women chat and walk.

David teased Jasper about neglecting his work for a woman, while Jasper retorted that David, despite having given up on her, still came along to watch.

Life continued smoothly.

Just as Adeline was starting to move past her pain, an unexpected visitor arrived at the yard.

One morning, as Linda was preparing breakfast for Adeline, a flashy RV pulled up at the gate. Two servants stepped out first. One opened a parasol, while the other fanned the air with one hand and extended the other into the RV to help a woman out.

Daisy, dressed in an opulent gown, gracefully stepped out holding a baby girl. She wrinkled her nose in disdain. "The air in this countryside is foul."

The servants, understanding her displeasure, quickly sprayed disinfectant and perfume suitable for babies, creating a fragrant and sanitized environment around Daisy and the baby. They even sprayed the gate, the guards, and the other servants.

Linda, placing the last breakfast dish under the parasol, frowned at the scene at the gate. She strode out, her eyes scanning Daisy and the baby with displeasure. "Who are you?"

Daisy looked Linda up and down, her lips curling into a disdainful smile. "Who I am is none of your business, servant."

Handing the baby to a servant, Daisy lifted her gown and walked past Linda into the yard. "Adeline, I'm here."

Adeline, dressed in a simple white gown, had just come downstairs after washing up. She saw Daisy standing in the yard. Daisy looked much healthier and more radiant than before, her clothes now genuine designer pieces.

Adeline's appearance, however, had changed drastically. She was much thinner and paler, her once-fitting gown now hanging loosely on her frame.

Seeing Adeline, Daisy's lips curled into a smile. She walked over and grabbed Adeline's hand, feigning warmth. "This place is so remote. It took twenty minutes to drive here. Brandon didn't want me to come, fearing Patty and I might get sick."

"But I thought our wedding and Patty's birthday are such big events, I should personally deliver the invitations to you and your mom."

She pulled out a few gold-embossed invitations from her pocket. "Adeline, it's at Crystal Heights Resort in three days. You must come."

Daisy winked at Adeline. "You remember Crystal Heights Resort, right? It's where you and Brandon almost got engaged."

She sighed dramatically. "I wanted to choose a different venue, but Brandon insisted on Crystal Heights Resort, the most luxurious hotel in Oceancrest City, to give me and Patty a grand entrance into the Torres family."

Daisy looked at Adeline seriously. "You don't mind, do you? After all, you and Brandon almost got engaged there..."

Adeline's lips curled into a cold smile as she pulled her hand away. "You know, Crystal Heights Resort is where Brandon and I almost got engaged? Aren't you worried it's bad luck? After all, our engagement didn't happen."

She tossed the invitations into the trash and sat under the parasol. "Ms. Phoebe, I've received your invitation. Since you find this place so unpleasant, you should leave soon. You wouldn't want your wedding to be ruined because you visited the countryside."

Daisy's eyes narrowed with malice. She bit her lip, then turned to the servant holding the baby. "Anna, bring Patty over to Adeline."

"Even though Adeline's child is gone, mine is still here. Adeline, look at my baby. If your child were alive, they'd be this big now."
