Chapter 227 The Man Pulled Out of Which Trash Can
Linda was instantly stunned upon looking at the document.
Adeline couldn't help but feel burning anger. "Zavier, what do you mean?"
"Linda just encountered this unexpected situation and needs your comfort and understanding the most. What are you doing?
Zavier's expression was indifferent.
"Isn't it clear enough?" He glanced coldly at Adeline, then at Linda. "I am a traditional man.
"She had been slept with by other men before she was rescued, you must be aware of that, right?"
"Not just one!" Zavier gritted his teeth. "I am grateful that I never brought Linda home to meet my elders, otherwise, I would never hold my head up high for the rest of my life!"
After saying that, he coldly glared at Linda. "Sign!"
Adeline was furious that her breathing became erratic.
She clenched her fists tightly at her sides. "Zavier, do you have no heart?"
"Do I have no heart?" Zavier sneered, his gaze coldly sweeping over Adeline's face. "That's a question you should ask yourself!
"If Linda hadn't become friends with you, hadn't been helping you all along, would she have been retaliated against and gone through this?
"If she hadn't gone through this, would I be divorcing her?
"We were planning to have a child next year!
"Adeline, it's you who ruined Linda, ruined me, ruined the happy family we should have had!"
The man's words were extremely harsh, each word felt like a sharp needle, piercing Adeline's heart mercilessly.
She bit her lip tightly, unable to say a word.
She couldn't refute Zavier.
If it weren't for her, Linda wouldn't be in the state she was in now.
She had a responsibility to Linda.
She owed Linda.
"Is this your excuse for abandoning your wife?" David, who was standing aside, couldn't bear to watch any longer. He crossed his arms, his gaze icy as he looked at Zavier. "As a man, if you can't protect your wife properly, that's one thing.
"To abandon her at the first sign of trouble, are you even a man?"
Zavier frowned, only then did he notice that besides Lyndon and Adeline in the ward, there was another man.
He recognized David, the one who was caught by Gabriel.
From that day onward, David also became a hot topic among everyone.
Zavier knew he couldn't afford to provoke David.
So, he turned his head, glared at Linda in disdain. "Are you signing or not?"
Linda's face turned pale.
She timidly picked up the pen. "I...
"I'll sign."
Adeline was taken aback, quickly turning back to grab Linda's arm. "Linda, you..."
Linda smiled weakly at Adeline. "He has made up his mind, there's no point in me continuing to cling.
"Let's part ways amicably."
With that, she took the pen and earnestly signed her name on the divorce agreement.
As the final stroke fell, Zavier, as if afraid that Linda would regret it, directly snatched the agreement from her hand.
"I'm going back to pack now. The villa was bought by your family, the Phoebe family, I won't take advantage of you.
"But the car is mine, I'm driving away!"
With that, Zavier turned and left in large strides.
Watching his merciless departure, Linda couldn't help but close her eyes.
Seeing her in this state, Adeline's heart ached even more.
She didn't even know what to say at this moment to make Linda feel less sad.
"What a man pulled out of which trash can." David, standing beside them, crossed his arms and laughed coldly.
Linda still kept her eyes closed and remained silent.
Adeline bit her lip, then finally turned to glance at David.
"She's already so sad, please don't say anything."
David chuckled, "She's not worth being sad over a scumbag. Why should she care about what others say?"
Adeline furrowed her brows.
She was very grateful to David for rescuing Linda.
However, the way this man spoke was really hard to hear.
"Adeline."
After a while, Linda still kept her eyes closed. "You two should leave first. I want to be alone for a while."
Adeline bit her lip. "But..."
"Just go."
Linda smiled bitterly. "I've been embarrassed and sad enough, can you give me some quiet space, please?"
Adeline took a deep breath, then walked to Linda's side, tucked her in with the blanket, and whispered, "I'm sorry."
After that, she turned around and left the ward in large strides.
Behind her, Linda's eyes welled up with tears again.
Coming out of the ward, Adeline was completely lost.
After ensuring Linda's safety earlier, Jasper had left with Ryan, saying there was something he needed to take care of.
On the bench in the corridor, only Stella remained.
Seeing Adeline coming out, Stella quickly smiled and approached. "Adeline, is Linda okay?"
Adeline nodded.
"I just saw Zavier coming out with the divorce agreement."
Stella helped Adeline sit on the bench, a hint of satisfaction in her eyes, but her voice was full of regret. "They were quite a match, why divorce over such a trivial matter?"
Adeline closed her eyes. "I'm not in a good mood right now, I don't want to argue with you.
"Ms. Foster, I know you want to gloat, but you better stay away from me right now."
Stella laughed out loud, "What's wrong? Linda is getting divorced, not you, why are you in a bad mood?"
"I think you should be happy now.
"If Jasper hadn't saved you last night, you would be in the same situation as Linda now."
Adeline gave her a cold glance.
Stella not only didn't back down, but instead pushed further. "If it were you being forced today, Linda wouldn't be getting divorced from Zavier.
"Besides, you were single too, you've slept with someone else's husband before.
"For you, this kind of thing is probably a piece of cake, right?
"Jasper shouldn't have saved you yesterday, he should have saved Linda today."
With that, Stella sighed lightly, "Linda is really unfortunate.
"If she didn't know your true identity, at most she would have been my follower, just scolding and following you around.
"But you had to tell her the truth, her relationship with you improved, but what's the result?
"Adeline, admit it, you're a disaster, you're the one who ruined Linda."
Her repeated provocations finally made Adeline lose her temper.
She lifted her head, glaring angrily at Stella.
Stella, however, remained smug. "What? Did I hit a nerve? Are you angry?
"If you dare, hit me."
"Forget that last time you hit me, you..."
Before Stella could finish her sentence, Adeline clenched her teeth and slapped her hard which left Stella stunned for a moment.
The next second, she stood up angrily. "Alright, you dare to hit me!"
Stella raised her hand and slapped back hard.
Perhaps due to excessive sadness, Adeline's reaction was a bit slow.
Although she tried to dodge, she couldn't completely avoid it and took the hit squarely.
Seeing her unable to dodge, Stella snorted coldly and raised her hand again.
"Let it go."
Just as Stella's second slap was about to land, a large hand gently grabbed her wrist.
