Chapter 364 How About We Make a Bet?
Mia instinctively took a step back.
She frowned at Tim, her eyes wary. "When did you meet Adeline?"
"When did you start working for her?"
Tim was Thomas's friend, having grown up in the same village. Logically, Tim and Tom should be on Thomas's side.
Why were they helping Adeline when she splashed coffee on her?
They even spoke up for Adeline, saying everything was true?
"We didn't lie." Tim sighed, looking steadily at Mia's face. "We grew up in the same village."
"Have Tom and I ever lied?"
Mia bit her lip.
Indeed. Tim and Tom were adopted by the most honest family in the village.
They were simple and honest, always getting bullied by Thomas and other kids.
Mia had often been amused by their straightforwardness and honesty.
She bit her lip. "Just because you didn't lie when you were kids doesn't mean you won't lie now."
No matter what others said, she wouldn't believe that Thomas would betray her!
He had overcome so many obstacles to come back to her from abroad.
They were about to get married and be happy soon!
Mia's words made Adeline, who was wiping coffee stains off Tom with a tissue, pause slightly.
"So, you'd rather believe that honest people are lying than believe liars are deceiving you, right?" Adeline said.
Her words made Mia's face turn pale.
Mia bit her lip. "Shut up!"
"When I'm talking to Tim, do you have a say!?"
Although she had just inherited the White family's estate not long ago, she was now the sole heir of the family.
Did Adeline have the right to talk to her like that?
Tim frowned and glanced at Mia, sneering. "Wealth really changed you."
He took a deep breath, pulled out his phone, and placed a few photos in front of her. "Look."
The photos showed Thomas and Grace together.
Grace was shyly leaning on his shoulder, and he was holding her tightly. They looked like a sweet campus couple.
Mia's mind went blank instantly.
Tom quickly supported her, who was about to fall.
With a cold look, Tim continued to scroll and find more photos. The background of the photos was abroad.
In every photo, Thomas and Grace were present.
Occasionally, there was a cute little boy, Mark, who looked only two or three years old.
After a long time, Tim finished scrolling through the entire album and looked at Mia's face indifferently. He said, "These are the photos Thomas sent us over the past six years."
"He never planned to return or get back together with you, so he got married and had a child abroad."
Tim sighed. "Later, he heard you got a huge inheritance from your family's passing."
Mia staggered, instinctively taking a step back in disbelief. "Impossible!"
Thomas, who grew up alongside her, was the beacon of her life and faith!
He had said that he was forced to do hard labor abroad.
He also said that during those years, he nearly died several times, only surviving from thinking of her.
He said it was the thought of seeing her that kept him alive.
If what he said was true,, then how could Tim explain these photos?
Could they be photoshopped?
Mia bit her lip, grabbed the phone, and examined these photos carefully.
She was a journalist herself; she could tell if the photos were photoshopped.
However, she carefully examined all of them; there were no signs of photoshopping!
"The photos are real. No matter how much you look, you won't find anything." Adeline said.
Seeing Mia's intention, Adeline sighed with slight emotion.
Wasn't she like Mia once, unconditionally believing in Jasper?
'Women in love always think their partner is the best and most perfect.' She thought.
Mia looked up at Adeline with a pale face and red eyes.
However, she still held back her tears. "Impossible."
"You'll find out soon enough." Adeline took a deep breath and sat back in front of Mia. "Let's make a bet?"
Mia bit her lip and looked at her. "What shall we wager?"
"I bet I can make you see Thomas's true colors within three days." Adeline said.
"But from your recent actions, it seems that you no longer consider me a friend."
Her eyes were cold. "Since that's the case, I won't be polite to you, either."
"If the evidence I provide convinces you, you must agree to one condition."
Mia was silent for a while, then nodded heavily. "Okay."
She sat in front of Adeline, just about to ask about her condition when her phone rang. It was Thomas calling.
She glanced at Adeline and didn't avoid it, answering the call.
"Okay, I'll be right there," Mia said.
After hanging up, she took a deep breath and looked at Adeline. "Thomas is waiting for me at the mall. We agreed to get our ring sizes measured and order the rings today."
Adeline elegantly stood up. "I'll go with you."
Hearing that she was going to see Thomas, Tim and Tom exchanged glances and then stood on either side of her. "We'll protect you."
The reason they were willing to expose Thomas in front of Mia was because they already knew he had tried to harm Adeline several times.
Since they couldn't protect Bennett, they had to protect his family for him.
Adeline rolled her eyes at them. "If you go with me to see Thomas, won't he know you've betrayed him?"
The two exchanged a glance.
"Don't worry," She said.
She glanced at the two bodyguards standing far outside the café. "Someone is protecting me."
Those two were arranged by David at Linda's request to protect her.
Adeline trusted David's men.
Hearing this, Tim and Tom could only sigh and let her leave.
After Adeline and Mia left the café and got into the car to the mall, the two bodyguards outside followed in their car.
One of them in the passenger seat took out his phone and called Jasper. "Mr. Foster."
"Miss Wilson and Miss White have left together."
"They're going to the mall to meet Thomas and choose rings."
In the cold, empty office, Jasper listened to the voice on the other end of the phone, his eyes narrowing slightly.
Hadn't Adeline always said that Thomas was sent by him to harm her?
Why was she suddenly getting along so well with Mia and Thomas?
After hanging up, he hesitated for a moment, then stood up. "Cancel all of today's meetings."
"Ryan, prepare the car. We're going to the mall."
