Chapter 572 Don't Want Her to Worry
In the evening, Violet sat by the floor-to-ceiling window at the café, stirring her coffee and letting out a sigh as she glanced at Adeline across from her.
"So, are you just gonna wait for Molly to make the first move?"
She sighed again, took a sip of her coffee, and said, "Honestly, I think a fake marriage with Jasper isn't a bad idea."
She continued, "Even though Molly's been back in Radiance Springs for a while, she's still managed to stay hidden. Jasper and Mia's people have searched the place thoroughly, but they still can't find her."
She looked up at Adeline. "If you two got married, she might actually show herself."
Adeline curled her lips and gave Violet a helpless look.
"Jasper asked me to marry him, not a fake marriage. I'd refuse anything related to Jasper."
The time she spent with Jasper was a nightmare. What's more, she had finally managed to hate him, and she didn't want to get close to him again or feel his charm up close.
Seeing her insist on refusing, Violet sighed. "Then you'll just have to be more patient than Molly."
Adeline curled her lips. "I have a spy on her side."
Sebastian had said he'd contact her whenever he had the chance. Just as she finished speaking, Adeline's phone buzzed.
It was a text from an unknown number: [I'm waiting for you on Maple Avenue. Come quickly.]
Adeline's lips curved slightly.
The only person who could message her at this time was probably Sebastian.
Taking a deep breath, Adeline quickly replied: [On my way.]
After typing those words, she quickly stood up. "I have to go. My informant is looking for me."
Maple Avenue.
Seeing the reply on his phone, a man looked up at the person beside him. "She's taken the bait."
The person snorted coldly, extinguished his cigarette, and pulled out several fruit knives from his bag, handing them out to the men around him.
"When that woman arrives, we'll rush her and hack her to death to avenge Luna!"
"Yes!"
Adeline took a cab straight to Maple Avenue. Unexpectedly, she hit evening traffic.
By the time she reached the intersection near Maple Avenue, she was already ten minutes late.
Wearing high heels, she ran desperately into the alley.
She was afraid Sebastian would be discovered.
She ran quickly and urgently, ignoring her twisted ankle, just wanting to find Sebastian quickly and learn some news about Molly and Bennett.
When she finally got to the rust-smelling Maple Avenue, she saw Jasper sitting on a stone in the alley.
Behind him, Ryan was directing a few bodyguards to move stuff around.
The scene made Adeline pause for a moment.
Seeing her arrive, Jasper gave a light smile, sitting there all cool and collected, his gaze indifferent.
"It was me who messaged you."
Adeline's brows furrowed instantly. She looked at him, her voice tinged with coldness. "You could've just called me directly. Why go through all this trouble?"
She really thought it was Sebastian and had rushed over with a twisted ankle! And it turned out to be Jasper.
"It feels more formal."
There were no streetlights in the alley. Adeline couldn't see Jasper's expression clearly, but she could hear the amusement in his voice.
"I called you here just to ask if you've thought about marrying me."
Adeline took a deep breath.
"I've already told you, I won't marry you!" After saying that, she turned to leave.
After taking a few steps, she suddenly turned back as if she had recalled something.
"And don't do this again. I don't have time to waste with you."
She walked away in her high heels. The ankle she had twisted in her haste seemed to mock her foolishness.
After her figure completely disappeared from the alley, Jasper finally closed his eyes and released the hand that had been covering his abdomen.
"Mr. Foster, are you alright?"
Ryan quickly rushed over to support him. "The ambulance is already waiting at the alley entrance. I'll call them over now!"
Jasper closed his eyes, his voice weak.
He only knew that Luna's men were planning to ambush Adeline here, so he rushed over. But he didn't expect there to be so many of them.
Without enough people with him, he rushed into the alley as soon as he got out of the car, only to fall into their ambush.
When Adeline arrived, the knife wounds on his abdomen had made it impossible for him to stand. He was sitting there waiting for the ambulance.
"Mr. Foster, why did you do this?"
Sitting in the ambulance, Ryan sighed as he stayed by his side, "Ms. Wilson was very angry. She must think you were deliberately messing with her."
He added, "Why not tell her the truth?"
Jasper lay on the stretcher, silently closing his eyes with a bitter smile.
"I don't want her to worry. Nor do I want her to feel indebted to me."
Ryan was indignant. "If she feels she owes you too much and can't repay it, she might agree to marry you."
Jasper asked, "Do you think I'm so pathetic that I need a woman to marry me out of debt?"
