Chapter 729 Not Afraid of Truly Being Ruined

Adeline had just sat down and hadn't even taken a sip of her drink before she was ready to leave. This situation was completely unexpected for Brandon.

His team hadn't even had the chance to plant the tracker on her!

Brandon quickly spoke up, "Adeline, I know I might've been a bit impulsive, but I really missed you."

He wheeled himself over to Adeline, reaching out to grab her wrist, his eyes filled with longing and regret. "Since you're already here, could you stay and have this meal with me? I miss you so much. I know you can't go out easily, so I had to come up with this plan."

Brandon's voice was full of humble pleading.

Adeline frowned, glancing at Brandon's face. Although she still felt discontented by his deceit, the emotion in his eyes made her soften a bit. Brandon took a deep breath, gripping her wrist tighter, planning to use a sympathy ploy. He signaled to someone behind Adeline.

A man approached and, seeing Brandon in the way, kicked his wheelchair. "Move it, you cripple!"

The force of the kick sent Brandon's wheelchair toppling over, and he fell to the ground.

Adeline panicked and instinctively moved to help Brandon, but a pair of small hands steadied the wheelchair.

It was Joseph, wearing a red hoodie.

"Careful there."

As Joseph righted the wheelchair, he noticed a small object attached to Adeline's backpack. He squinted, instantly understanding.

The man who kicked Brandon's wheelchair was one of Brandon's own. He had kicked Brandon and, while Adeline was distracted, planted the tracker on her bag.

"Thanks."

Brandon, his sympathy ploy interrupted, reluctantly thanked Joseph and forced a smile. "What are you doing here?"

Joseph nudged Adeline back into the booth, discreetly removing the tracker and slipping it into his own pocket. "I came here for some chicken legs. Mr. Torres, did you know? Lucky Restaurant's chicken legs are amazing!"

He licked his lips and turned to Adeline with an innocent look. "Could you buy me a chicken leg?"

Adeline looked at him, frowning silently.

Joseph had just left Magnolia Estate with Oliver and Jasper.

If he was here, then were Oliver and Jasper here as well?

"Miss, don't you want to buy me a chicken leg?"

Seeing Adeline looking around, Joseph tugged on her sleeve and asked softly.

Adeline snapped back to reality. "I'll buy it for you."

Brandon smiled and picked up the menu.

Joseph's appearance had been a huge help!

If he hadn't shown up, Adeline might have already left.

His team had just placed a device on Adeline to disable the previously installed signal jammer. The real tracker still needed to be planted.

If Adeline left, their plan for the night would be half ruined!

"Thanks, Mr. Torres!"

Joseph grinned, sipping the lemon water Brandon had prepared for Adeline, and complimented insincerely, "Mr. Torres and you are so kind, a perfect match!"

Joseph's words made Jasper, watching from a nearby private room, frown.

He turned and gave Oliver a cold look. "Did you tell him to say that?"

Oliver rolled his eyes. "Do you think your son listens to you?"

Jasper thought for a moment. "He does. They never call me Mr. Foster."

Oliver rolled his eyes again. "I don't care."

Soon, the chicken legs were served.

Brandon's people accidentally bumped into Adeline, using the opportunity to plant various trackers on her.

Joseph, eating his chicken leg, rudely splattered grease on Adeline. He then wiped it off with a napkin, slipping the trackers into his own pouch.

Brandon watched Joseph's clumsy attempts to clean Adeline's clothes, frowning.

"Joseph, didn't your father teach you any table manners?"

The Phoebe family was a prestigious household, and Oliver, as a member, should have raised his son better.

"Nope." Joseph shrugged, still munching on his chicken leg. "Mr. Phoebe's parenting skills..."

He looked up at Brandon. "Are just like yours, useless!"

In the private room, Oliver's face darkened.

Brandon's face in front of Joseph was even worse.

Adeline, thinking it was just a child's innocent words, smiled gently and wiped Joseph's mouth with a napkin. "You shouldn't talk like that. It can hurt others' feelings."

Joseph pretended not to understand. "Did I hurt Mr. Torres?"

Brandon's face darkened further. He took a sip of his coffee. "No, I'm not that petty."

Joseph grinned. "I knew it. Mr. Torres, you're smart enough to know I was just talking about your legs, not anything else!"

Brandon put down his coffee cup, unable to drink anymore.

Noticing Joseph's words getting more outrageous, Adeline awkwardly laughed. "Alright, Brandon. We've finished eating. Let's call it a day and meet again next time."

She stood up, pulling Joseph along. "How are you getting home?"

"There's a driver waiting for me outside." Joseph replied.

Brandon watched from his wheelchair as Adeline and Joseph left, his hands clenched into fists.

Joseph dared to speak to him like that because of Oliver's backing.

One day, he would make Oliver his defeated foe!

Fuming, Brandon picked up his phone and dialed a number.

"Is the tracker working?"

The voice on the other end of the line responded, "The signal is normal, showing Miss Wilson's location."

"Stay close. If anything goes wrong, you're all fired!" He hung up and closed his eyes.

Outside, he heard the sound of several cars starting.

He exhaled, knowing his people were following Adeline.

After some time, he heard footsteps and someone sat across from him.

Brandon frowned and opened his eyes.

Jasper, dressed in black, was sipping the juice Adeline had left behind. He looked at Brandon.

"Those legs of yours have been in that wheelchair for almost a month now. Aren't you worried they'll really become useless?"
