Chapter 861 A Good Choice

Jasper hadn't expected Oliver to confront him so directly.

He narrowed his eyes, his voice icy.

"I only trust the police investigation."

Oliver wiped the blood from his lip, courtesy of Briar's punch, and sneered.

"Yeah, I know we gotta wait for the cops."

"But I'm asking you."

"Jasper, you're Adeline's ex-husband and the father of her four kids."

"Do you really think Adeline would commit murder? Would she kill Giselle, who wasn't a threat to her in love or career?"

"What do you mean Giselle wasn't a threat to Adeline in love or career?"

Oliver's words were unacceptable to Giselle's parents.

Briar struggled to free her wrist from Jasper's grip, glaring furiously at Oliver.

"Adeline clearly felt she couldn't compete with my daughter Giselle for Mr. Foster's affection, so she resorted to murder!"

"How can you say she posed no threat?"

"You're talking nonsense!"

Seeing Briar about to break free and charge at Oliver, two police officers quickly stepped in, restraining her on either side.

"Nonsense?"

Oliver sneered.

"It's natural to defend your deceased daughter, but I hope you recognize the situation."

"My sister Adeline didn't want to go home with Jasper, which is why she stayed in Oceancrest City."

"She wanted to escape Jasper, so why would she compete with your daughter?"

"Should I play the recording of your daughter calling Adeline a prostitute in front of me?"

His cold gaze swept over Yosef and Briar's shocked faces.

"To parents, their children are always the best, but people need to be self-aware."

"Continuing this nonsense will only expose all the disgraceful things your daughter did while alive. I advise you to leave the deceased with some final dignity."

He then looked indifferently at Jasper.

"You don't want to speak, do you?"

He adjusted his cufflinks.

"Eight months ago, when my mother was stabbed in the heart, you were the prime suspect."

"Adeline's first reaction was disbelief."

"If it weren't for all the evidence pointing to you, she wouldn't have wavered."

"And you?"

"Now Giselle's death is suspicious, and the fingerprints on the weapon clearly show Adeline isn't the killer."

"But you ignore it."

Oliver took a deep breath, a slight smile on his lips.

"You don't deserve Adeline."

"She just told me she wants you to visit her. She wants to see you."

"Honestly, I think it doesn't matter. You can't do anything but make her sad."

With that, he turned and walked away.

Jasper stood there, watching his retreating figure, his eyes narrowed tightly.

"Mr. Foster."

Once Oliver's figure had completely disappeared from view, Yosef and Briar rushed to Jasper.

"That murderer Adeline wants to see you, surely to deceive you into thinking she's not the real killer!"

"Don't fall for it!"

"Don't go see her... for Giselle's sake, you mustn't..."

Jasper glanced indifferently at Yosef and Briar.

"I said I'd help investigate Giselle's death."

"But you have no right to interfere with my freedom."

He then walked over to a nearby police officer.

"Give me a visitation form."

Yosef and Briar exchanged a look, their eyes filled with frustration.

Their daughter had died attending a wedding with Jasper!

And Jasper, instead of taking responsibility, wanted to prevent them from confronting the killer's family!

But they knew they lacked the power and resources to go head-to-head with Jasper.

The couple could only support each other, watching quietly as Jasper filled out the form and headed to the visitation room at the end of the hallway.

"Excuse me."

A police officer approached them with a smile.

"If the victim's body is confirmed, you need to arrange for cremation soon. It's almost summer, and we can't store it for long."

The officer's words nearly made them faint.

Thinking of their daughter, they began to cry, supporting each other.

"Our poor daughter..."

"You died so tragically, and the killer isn't being punished..."

"Mom and Dad are sorry..."

The officer squinted, lowering his voice as he spoke.

"I feel for you two..."

"I have a friend who's a TV reporter. He can help you. Should I give you his contact information?"

The officer's words made Yosef and Briar's eyes light up!

They quickly nodded.

"Yes, thank you so much!"

If the law couldn't make Adeline pay immediately, they would use public opinion to make sure Adeline and the Phoebe family couldn't stay in Oceancrest City!

Visitation Room.

When Adeline was brought out by the female guard, Jasper was lazily leaning back in his chair, casually twisting a small Rubik's cube.

She immediately recognized the cube as Bennett's handiwork.

Bennett was different from other kids his age.

While other kids might enjoy solving Rubik's cubes, Bennett preferred the satisfaction of making toys himself.

Before they returned to Radiance Springs, Bennett loved making things in his room.

Every toy he made had a big "B" he designed himself, marking his creation.

So Adeline instantly recognized the cube in Jasper's hand as Bennett's work.

Seeing the cube, she narrowed her eyes.

It seemed Jasper's relationship with the three kids had improved over the past six months.

She walked over and sat down.

"Jasper."

He elegantly placed the cube on the table, pushing it towards her.

"The police have checked it, no contraband."

"A toy for you in prison."

Adeline sneered, taking the cube in her hand.

"So, you really don't plan to get me out, do you?"

"I know you don't want to be the CEO of the Phoebe Group."

"They forced you, pushed you, making you stand against me."

"I'm giving you a chance to rest in prison, away from the outside chaos. Isn't that a good choice for you?"
