Chapter 270 Do You Have A Good Relationship with Your Mommy?
Adeline was a bit taken aback. "Me?"
"Yeah." Jasper opened the breakfast bag and handed her a meal. "I want to apologize."
Adeline was stunned. Jasper, apologizing to her?
"About yesterday." Jasper's eyes darkened. "The way things were handled might've been wrong, but Stella is my wife. I don't want her to be embarrassed too much."
Adeline's hand, in the midst of opening the breakfast bag, came to a halt. She pulled her hand back and looked up at Jasper's stern face. "Is Mr. Foster apologizing for this?"
Jasper nodded.
Adeline smirked. "This has already been cleared up. It's all Scarlett's doing, who had deceived Stella."
With a hint of mockery, she looked at Jasper. "Since it's Scarlett's fault, why do you apologize to me, Mr. Foster?"
Jasper gave a bitter smile. "It still bothers you."
Taking a deep breath, Jasper looked earnestly at Adeline. "I know Scarlett, who is not that cunning."
Jasper stood up and walked to the window, looking at the trees below. "Stella is smart and meticulous, but her words were not flawless."
"I talked to Stella last night. She admitted she envies your talent and your relationship with the kids."
Watching Jasper's back, Adeline smiled wryly. "So, even if Stella admits she is behind all this, will you still defend her?"
She bit her lip, unable to hold back. "Jasper, do you really like Stella that much?"
Jasper paused. After a long while, he turned to face her, his gaze fixed on Adeline. "You've never been married, so maybe you don't understand. In marriage, besides emotions, there's also responsibility."
He recalled all that Adeline Collins had endured for him during that time.
Now that she had changed, could he give up on her because she made a mistake? No.
So, Jasper could only hope that through his help, he could make Stella be Adeline Collins again. "Stella is inherently kind-hearted; she's just currently consumed by jealousy."
Adeline couldn't help but laugh. When she was with Jasper before, he had never shown any emotions towards her, nor had he been this tolerant.
If she made even the slightest mistake, Jasper would sternly demand she not do it again.
But now, facing Stella's repeated schemes, he was talking about marriage responsibilities.
A man who had callously killed his wife six years ago for another woman dared to talk about responsibility in front of her.
"I know you're probably not satisfied with how I handle this." Jasper turned to her. "But I'll try to minimize your interactions."
"Stella won't work in the design department anymore; I'll transfer her to an easier position."
"By doing this, you won't have to worry about her not having a job and conflicting with Bennett and Lauren, and she won't disturb your work anymore."
"Besides," Jasper looked at Adeline intently. "I can agree to one condition as compensation."
"You name it as long as it's within my capability."
Adeline raised an eyebrow. "When it comes to conditions, I do have one."
She pulled out her laptop and opened the training camp info Blake had given her. "I want Lauren and Bennett to have a better learning environment."
Jasper furrowed his brow, quickly skimming through the details.
"No." He spoke decisively. "Bennett and Lauren have only been with me and Stella for a month. And now you want us to send them away for six months of training? No way."
Adeline closed the laptop, looking up at Jasper with a mocking gaze. "Mr. Foster, it seems your words don't hold much weight. You were just talking about responsibility. But you can't even stand by what you just said, can you?"
Jasper's gaze turned deep and unreadable. He looked at Adeline steadily. "I did agree to one request, but that doesn't give you the right to meddle in my family affairs."
"But you said I can name it as long as it's within your capability. Sending the kids to a training camp is easy for you."
Jasper narrowed his eyes but stayed silent.
Adeline shrugged, settled into a more comfortable position on the sofa, and then gracefully took out a voice recorder from her pocket.
Under Jasper's dangerous gaze, she pressed play.
Jasper's low, magnetic voice echoed in the quiet living room: "I can agree to one condition as compensation. You name it as long as it's within my capability."
Jasper's face turned livid.
Adeline laughed and played it over and over again.
When Jasper's words had played for the fifth time, his hand finally clenched into a fist. "I need to ask Lauren and Bennett's opinion."
As Jasper's voice fell, the door of the small bedroom next to them opened.
Lauren and Bennett walked out hand in hand. "We agree!"
Lauren ran over to Jasper, holding his sleeve. "Dad, I want to learn more and broaden my horizons. Maybe after the training camp, I'll be much better than I am now!"
Bennett crossed his arms, sitting on the sofa like a little adult. "Who knows, maybe after the camp, I'll become a little genius."
The kids' words made Jasper rub his forehead helplessly. He knew it. Adeline must have discussed this with them beforehand. He mentioned wanting their opinions because he had already noticed two pairs of big eyes peering through the slightly ajar door.
Jasper skillfully lifted Lauren into his arms. "Don't you want to build a relationship with me?"
Lauren affectionately kissed Jasper's cheek. "Our relationship is already good enough!"
Jasper pinched her little nose. "What about your relationship with your mom?"
Lauren's little face wrinkled slightly. She knew Jasper was referring to Stella, but she pretended not to understand and pointed to Adeline. "My relationship with Mom is very good, of course."
With Lauren in his arms, Jasper smiled gently. "I mean your biological mom."
