Chapter 619 I'll Go Personally
Adeline was totally floored. And it wasn't just her—Mia's eyes were practically popping out of her head.
Never divorced?
So, Jasper was engaged to Molly, then Stella, and later became Luna's boyfriend. Was all of that cheating?
Seeing the confusion on their faces, Jason took a deep breath and said, "Adeline, as I said before, Jasper's only loved you for the past six years. After your accident, everyone thought you were dead, lost at sea. Jasper believed it too, but he couldn't accept it. So, he never got a death certificate for you, just saying you were missing. Your marriage has always been valid."
He sighed, "As for what happened next, his engagement with Molly was just to take care of her, like you wanted. They only got engaged. From the start, he told Molly they wouldn't get married, and once she found someone she liked, they'd break it off."
He continued, "Then there was Stella. You know, Stella used your identity, and he always thought Stella was you, so there was no need for a divorce. After Stella, he agreed to be Luna's boyfriend to get treatment for Blake. He never liked Luna, and he wasn't going to divorce you for her."
Jason looked straight at Adeline. "If I remember right, your marriage certificate with Jasper should still be in the safe at the back of his study. The password is your wedding anniversary. If you get the marriage certificate and go to the memorial service, they can't keep up their act."
Jason's words hit Mia like a ton of bricks. She grabbed Adeline's hand. "That's right! If your marriage with Jasper was never dissolved, then whether he's dead or alive, half of his assets are legally yours! If you take the marriage certificate and stop Nathan and Rex as Jasper's legal wife, they can't take his assets!"
Adeline bit her lip and nodded silently. She always thought Jasper would get a death certificate for her and end their marriage after the news of her death. But he hadn't done it all these years.
Jasper even kept their marriage certificate in the safe, with the password set to their wedding anniversary. Was it because, deep down, he didn't want to be separated from her?
Just thinking about it made Adeline's tears flow again. She wished the rescue team could find Jasper right now.
Adeline wanted to ask Jasper face to face what she meant to him, and who she was to him!
"Adeline!" Mia snapped, seeing her lost in thought. "Time's running out, we need to get to Blue Bay and grab that marriage certificate."
Jason glanced at Adeline and said softly, "If you don't want to, it's okay. After all, these are Jasper's assets and have nothing to do with you. And taking the marriage certificate to the news site could bring a lot of negative attention. You just got engaged to Rex a few days ago, and you'll be heavily criticized online."
Adeline said firmly, "I don't care."
She snapped back to reality, took a deep breath, and turned to leave with Mia. After walking a few steps, she looked back at Jason, "If you find Jasper, make sure he gets to the memorial service at the press conference right away. I don't want to handle this alone." With that, she strode off.
Mia quickly followed, and the two women sped away in a red Ferrari.
Jason stood there, watching the car disappear into the distance, his mind a whirlwind of emotions. No matter how much Adeline tried to hide it, it was clear she still cared about Jasper.
Just as he was lost in thought, a commotion came from the entrance of the underground warehouse. "Found them!"
Jason was stunned and quickly ran over. The rescue team had indeed pulled two people out of the rubble.
Jasper lay on a stretcher, covered in dust, but fortunately, he wasn't injured, just a bit dehydrated and oxygen-deprived from being underground for so long.
The rescue team handed him an oxygen bottle.
After taking a few deep breaths, Jasper exhaled deeply, his face full of exhaustion but his spirit still relatively good.
He put down the oxygen bottle, drank a few sips of water, and looked up at Jason, "Why are your eyes red, did you cry?"
Jason, both happy and angry, lightly punched him on the shoulder. "Yeah, I cried! I thought you were really dead!"
"Not that easy to die." Jasper managed a weak smile, "Bennett saved me."
Jason raised an eyebrow. "Bennett lost his memory and is now with Molly, yet he still saved you?"
Jasper smiled, "I was surprised too."
Originally, he was following the sound with Ryan to find Blake and Lauren. But as he approached, he ran into Bennett, who signaled them to stay quiet and led them to a hidden room.
Later, when the warehouse exploded, the small room they were in remained undamaged due to its location and structure. So Jasper and Ryan were unharmed.
Jason couldn't help but marvel, "Your kids are all so talented."
Jasper smiled, then turned to scan the scene. He didn't see the person he wanted to see.
Noticing his gaze, Jason frowned. "She went back to Blue Bay to get your marriage certificate and to disrupt Nathan's press conference, where he plans to transfer all Foster Group's assets to Rex."
Jasper frowned. "How dare they do that?"
Jason took a deep breath and handed Jasper the news. "Look, they want to finalize everything while you're still missing. If you're dead by then, all the better for them. If you're alive, you won't be able to reclaim it."
Jasper's eyes narrowed. He looked at his dusty, torn clothes, then at Jason's neat navy blue suit. "Give me your clothes."
Jason said, "What for?"
Jasper added, "Adeline doesn't need to disrupt that press conference. I'll go myself."
