Chapter 720 I Still Need to Investigate

Jasper had been out cold for almost a week.

During that time, he could barely make out a little girl's voice near his ear.

"Daddy, what's wrong with him?"

"He's not sick, just really tired."

"But Daddy, why's he so tired?"

"Because he couldn't find happiness."

In his coma, Jasper kept hearing the man's voice echoing in his head.

Failed in his search for happiness, did he fail?

For his three kids, he couldn't fail!

This thought jolted Jasper awake. He sat up abruptly in bed, drenched in sweat.

As he woke up, he surveyed his surroundings.

He was in a traditional-looking house, sitting on a bed in a side room.

On the floor in front of him was a little girl in a uniform, her hair tied up.

The girl looked about Lauren's age, full of mischief.

Seeing Jasper awake, the girl quickly stood up and ran out, shouting, "Daddy! Joseph! The man who was sleeping is awake!"

Soon, a man entered the room.

Joseph, wearing a red hoodie and sucking on a lollipop, followed him in.

Jasper frowned, looking at the three people standing before him. "Who are you?"

"Mr. Foster." The man smiled gently, walking over to Jasper and sitting down to examine him.

He spoke calmly, "This is the private residence of Oliver Phoebe. I'm Oliver's friend, Dennis Gonzalez, a doctor. These two are my daughter, Nova Gonzalez, and Mr. Phoebe's son, Joseph Phoebe."

After Dennis finished speaking, Joseph pouted, pulled out a lollipop, unwrapped it, and stuck it in Jasper's mouth.

"Uncle Jasper, we've met before, at the Radiance Springs stock transfer party."

Jasper frowned, finally recognizing the boy in the red hoodie—the same kid who helped him identify his grandmother Lily's autopsy cloth at Radiance Springs.

He raised an eyebrow. "You're Oliver's son? And... you call me Uncle Jasper?"

Joseph nodded. "Of course. My dad's mom, you know her, Esther Forster."

Joseph's words left Jasper stunned.

Aunt Esther?

How could Oliver be Aunt Esther's child?

Seeing his shocked expression, Joseph pouted. "I'll go get Mr. Phoebe to explain."

Dennis nodded. "You've rested long enough; your body is indeed fine now."

Jasper's frown deepened. After the three left, he quickly grabbed his phone to check. He was stunned.

It had been half a month since he fell unconscious!

He hurriedly searched for news about the engagement ceremony.

Adeline and Brandon's engagement ceremony was unsuccessful because the bride was kidnapped.

Later, Brandon's side responded that Adeline had been found, but they needed time, so the engagement ceremony would be postponed.

No further details were given.

Jasper took a deep breath.

During his coma, Adeline hadn't ended up with Brandon.

He exhaled deeply and dialed Ryan's number.

"Mr. Foster! You're awake!" Ryan's voice on the other end was so emotional he was almost in tears. "Thank God you're awake! I didn't know what to do otherwise."

Jasper leaned against the headboard, closing his eyes. "The Phoebe family..."

Hearing him mention the Phoebe family, Ryan fell silent.

After a moment, he spoke hesitantly, "That night, I did my best to control the Phoebe family's stock prices, but we still failed. Don't worry, Mr. Foster, we didn't lose to Daisy. The one who stabilized the Phoebe family's situation was Oliver."

Oliver again?

Jasper's frown deepened.

Ryan continued, "After that night, the Torres family announced their alliance with the Phoebe family, fully supporting them. But...."

Ryan cleared his throat. "You don't need to worry about us being crushed by the Torres and Phoebe families. Remember, Ms. White is in Oceancrest City. She somehow got expert advice and understands financial operations. She knows the Oceancrest City market better than we do. During this time, our Foster Group hasn't been defeated in Oceancrest City; we've held our ground. All thanks to Ms. White."

Hearing Mia's name, Jasper couldn't help but picture her at the engagement ceremony the day he collapsed.

He pressed his lips together. "Did Mia tell you anything about Adeline?"

Ryan hesitated. "No, she didn't."

Jasper rubbed his forehead, about to ask more, when a cold voice came from the doorway.

"First thing you do when you wake up is check on that woman?"

Jasper looked up.

A man with a similar appearance to him walked in slowly and sat down at the small table beside him.

Oliver took a sip of coffee, glancing at Jasper. "Getting yourself into this state over a woman, how pathetic."

Jasper narrowed his eyes, his lips curling coldly. "Your son just said you have a connection to the Foster family?"

"Of course!" Oliver chuckled. "If my biological mother wasn't Esther, why would I risk angering my father to save the head of our rival family?"

Jasper stared at him deeply. He hadn't known about Esther and Oliver's relationship before.

Now that he did, he saw a resemblance between this man and Esther.

Not just Esther, even a bit like Adeline?

"Had enough staring?"

Oliver poured Jasper a cup of coffee and handed it to him. "If the Phoebe and Foster families weren't enemies, we might regard each other as brothers."

Jasper's eyes narrowed as he said, "Since you're Aunt Esther's son and know about the feud between the Phoebe and Foster families, why would you willingly stay with the Phoebe family? Don't you know how Aunt Esther died?"

Oliver laughed. "I only found out a year ago that Zara wasn't my biological mother. I still need to investigate what happened back then. Until I uncover the truth about my mother's death, you're all my family."

He looked up. "Including you and Adeline."

Hearing him mention Adeline, Jasper asked, "Do you know where she is?"

Oliver smirked, eyeing Jasper's scruffy face. "You plan to see her looking like that?"
